Dance Dance Revolution (ダンスダンスレボリューション, Dansu Dansu Reboryūshon), abbreviated DDR and also known as Dancing Stage in earlier games in Europe and Australasia, and some other games in Japan, is a music video game series produced by Konami. Introduced in Japan in 1998 as part of the Bemani series, and released in North America and Europe in 1999, Dance Dance Revolution is the pioneering series of the rhythm and dance genre in video games. Players stand on a "dance platform" or stage and hit colored arrows laid out in a cross with their feet to musical and visual cues. Players are judged by how well they time their dance to the patterns presented to them and are allowed to choose more music to play to if they receive a passing score.
Dance Dance Revolution has been given much critical acclaim for its originality and stamina in the video game market. There have been dozens of arcade-based releases across several countries and hundreds of home video game console releases, promoting a music library of original songs produced by Konami's in-house artists and an eclectic set of licensed music from many different genres. The DDR series has inspired similar games such as Pump It Up by Andamiro and In the Groove by Roxor.
Dancing Stage Max, or Max, was released on November 25, 2005 by Konami to the Europeean PlayStation 2 gaming audience. Dancing Stage Max was modeled after Dance Dance Revolution Extreme 2 in America and Dance Dance Revolution Strike in Japan, containing the new Dance Master Mode and improved EyeToy support. Max featured music by Natasha Bedingfield, Sugababes and Franz Ferdinand as well as new and old Konami Originals. Unlike the previous release, Dancing Stage Fusion, Max was not ported to the arcades.
Dancing Stage Fusion, abbreviated DS Fusion or simply Fusion, is a music video game released by Konami to the European PlayStation and PlayStation 2 gaming audience on 5 November 2004. In April of the following year, Dancing Stage Fusion was released as an arcade game. Fusion featured new gameplay features such as EyeToy support for the PlayStation 2 release as well as new music from hit pop artists. The arcade version of Fusion was the first arcade machine in Europe since Dancing Stage EuroMix 2 and set a milestone as the first Dance Dance Revolution arcade machine produced by Konami since Dance Dance Revolution Extreme in 2002. The arcade release marked a total game engine upgrade from the old PlayStation-based boards to a new system built on top of an off-the-shelf PlayStation 2. This hardware upgrade would be later featured in the global release of Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova in 2006.
The following three lists are playable songs in each respective version of Dancing Stage Fusion. They are ordered as they appear in game (much like a music album) and colour-coded according to colour-coding in game. Yellow represents licensed music, white represents Konami Originals (music developed within Konami by their own in-house artists), and blue represents Boss Songs (DDR terminology for the hardest songs available).

Trinity is a dance performance with high levels of real time interaction and close relationship between: dance, sound and visuals. The interactive link is done through a videocamera installed above the stage and under infrared lighting. Besides positional tracking the project is focus in measuring movement qualities as: forces and directions, accelerations, stage position, velocity and body area. The performance has been created and executed in live using the environment MAX/MSP/JITTER by Cycling74 and the computer vision library CV.JIT by Jean-Marc Pelletier. The piece has been presented by first time at Festival IDN in Mercat de les Flors (Barcelona) February 2013 and has been created with support from: NU2s, El Graner and Mercat de les Flors. http://electronicperformers.in/trinity...
„WHAT IS UP?“ is an architectural projection on „de Pakkerij“ - a typical Dutch dwelling house in the city center of Enschede / Netherland. It was performed during the International Festival of Arts “Grenswerk” on the 25th of September 2010. A house located in a dark street. A young man ambles along the sidewalk and returns home. He enters his own leisure area and sheltered home in order to withdraw from the outer world. In its surrealistic occurrence that space does not refer to any realistic scenario. The projection bypasses any extended borderline framing human intimacy - and gives a deep insight to our protagonist`s soul. By means of a precise fitting projection the whole house turns into a three-dimensional vast room hosting a human being of huge proportions. The conventional physi...

Welcome to our world of cables, curls and code. This is a clip from an early stage of the softwaredevelopment for the Recoil Performance Group production; "TimeMap # 3" This video is primarily intended for the openFrameworks coders ... it might be all mombo jumbo if you live in other dimensions. This modern dance performance was showing in Copenhagen from April 16th 2009, working with a.o. Tina Tarpgaard and Jonas Jongejan and our three magnificent dancers. We coded in openfameworks using the bullet physics library and openmp, interacting with isadora, qlab, grandMA and max msp via osc and midi. The lead-inspiration for the motion graphics and the video-mapping is the choreography, even though both maintain their self-contained aesthetical and spatial concept. Developing the graphics, the main focus lay on having a spatial interpretation discernable only through presence and movement of the dancers. This creates the appearance of a stage. “No Cover” is a project of dance and science inspired by the geometric form of a dodecahedron. Conceptually, it is based on the study of the temporal and spatial observations of phenomena under the laws of quantum mechanics. The work is composed of 6 different geometric costumes, which allow the development of 6 choreographies. The result is an experience that will be performed in front of an audience. The central idea revolves around the experiment of the performance itself, where failure in execution will be observed in relation to costume appropriation. The 18-month long research project comes to a close at the time and space of the Mise-en-scène. Here the audience will witness the entire process of the project; ranging from testing and exercising, to consuming the costumes. Credits Ar...
Rosas & graindelavoix | CESENA For Cesena Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Rosas worked closely with Björn Schmelzer and his graindelavoix ensemble. This new production might almost be called the counterpart to its predecessor, En Atendant. Whereas in that piece the twilight merged almost imperceptibly into night, this piece heralds the start of the day. The stage is shared by 19 dancers and singers who explore the limits of their ability. Dancers sing and singers dance, once again in dialogue with the wilful 14th-century scores of the Ars Subtilior. For the third time, Ann Veronica Janssens has collaborated with Rosas for the set design, providing a sculpture of passing time, of the constant transformation of what is around us and of what only becomes visible in the course of time. The sta...
For this performance art piece we design an environment where the stage performers are not bound to static expressions of sound and visuals. We are working with behavior-based approaches in reaction with interactive software settings for sound and visuals. These approaches and technologies affect the environment; adjusting the situations of appearance of shadows, their recognition as mirror effect and projections, their acceptance in the complex of the personality, change of the position of ego towards those elements. We want to achieve an emotional and physical sensation for the audience where the sound and visuals are in interaction with the dancer embodying the space we will create. This will be done with original visual and audio content, software and hardware interaction. This dynamic...
