An artist is a person engaged in creating art or practicing the arts.
Artist or artists or The Artist may also refer to:
The Art (sometimes stylised as THEART) are an Australian Alternative Rock band based in Sydney. They began performing under the name The Follow in 2004. Tasmanian band leader Azaria Byrne was known as an unsuccessful contestant on the reality television series Popstars.
Early highlights for the band's career have been supporting successful bands such as the Pixies, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Youth and Thirty Seconds to Mars as late as 2010, however this was marred by the crowd booing and calls to "get off the stage".
As band leader Azaria Byrne enters middle age success has so far eluded him despite media attention resulting from his being cuckolded by the even older fading celebrity Bill Corgan.
The other band members have all been described as "dull" but this could also be a result of the attention seeking behavior of their singer.
John Peter Berger (born 5 November 1926) is an English art critic, novelist, painter and poet. His novel G. won the 1972 Booker Prize, and his essay on art criticism Ways of Seeing, written as an accompaniment to a BBC series, is often used as a university text.
Born in Hackney,London, England, Berger was educated at St Edward's School, Oxford. His father, S.J.D. Berger, had been an infantry officer on the western front during the First World War and was awarded the Military Cross and an OBE. Berger served in the British Army from 1944 to 1946; he then enrolled in the Chelsea School of Art and the Central School of Art in London.
Berger began his career as a painter and exhibited work at a number of London galleries in the late 1940s. His art has been exhibited at the Wildenstein, Redfern and Leicester Galleries in London. Berger has continued to paint throughout his career.
While teaching drawing (from 1948 to 1955), Berger also became an art critic, publishing many essays and reviews in the New Statesman. His Marxist humanism and his strongly-stated opinions on modern art combined to make him a controversial figure early in his career. He titled an early collection of essays Permanent Red, as part as a statement of political commitment, and later wrote that before the Soviet Union achieved nuclear parity with the United States he had felt constrained not to criticize the former's policies; afterwards his attitude toward the Soviet state became considerably more critical.

Sparnaay is inspired by the Dutch painter Carel Willink. His examples in photorealism became Ralph Goings, Charles Bell and Richard Estes.
The oil paintings of Sparnaay are based on everyday objects. His subjects are items such as a breakfast, a crushed coca-cola can, a fried egg, a half eaten sandwich, cheeseburgers and desserts, a bag of chips with mayonnaise, a Dutch raw herring with a little flag, and a bunch of tulips still wrapped in cellophane. His paintings refer to the tradition of Dutch 17th century still-life, but are expanded to megaproportions using photorealistic techniques. His largest painting up to the year 2015 is called FoodScape and measures 120 x 300 cm.
David Keith Lynch (born January 20, 1946) is an American director, screenwriter, visual artist, musician, actor, and author. Known for his surrealist films, he has developed a unique cinematic style. The surreal and, in many cases, violent elements contained within his films have been known to "disturb, offend or mystify" audiences.
Born to a middle-class family in Missoula, Montana, Lynch spent his childhood traveling around the United States, before going on to study painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, where he first made the transition to producing short films. He moved to Los Angeles, where he produced his first motion picture, the surrealist horror film Eraserhead (1977). After Eraserhead became a cult classic on the midnight movie circuit, Lynch was employed to direct a biographical film about a deformed man, Joseph Merrick, titled The Elephant Man (1980), from which he gained mainstream success. He was then employed by the De Laurentiis Entertainment Group, and proceeded to make two films: the science-fiction epic Dune (1984), which proved to be a critical and commercial failure, and then a neo-noir crime film, Blue Velvet (1986), which was critically acclaimed.

Documentary about American artist and former Warhol superstar, Brigid Berlin.
I know that you're an artist,
but you're the hardest one to deal with.
Everything that you conceal
is revealed on your canvas.
You find all of your ugly meanings
in all of the things I find beautiful.
Do you see the fall is coming?
Come, I'm falling into you.
You perceive all of these things
I'd never have known.
Love, will you turn off the lights?
we're already home.
You painted me in pastel,
colors that don't tell of any boldness.
That's the way you'd love to see me:
so delicate, so weak, so little purpose.
But your eyes are drawn of charcoal
they're black, they're so cold, they're so imperfect.
Because they see a sleeping world,
where waking isn't worth it.
You perceive all of these things
that I'd never have known.
Love, will you turn off the lights?
