Colorado is situated in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, a land of remote valleys and high mountains.Denver is the state capital and is located on a sunny high plateau sixteen hundred metres above sea level where the local inhabitants enjoy more sunshine throughout the year than in California’s San Diego or even Honolulu. Skyscrapers between the prairie and the Rockies, a somewhat surreal city in which various power industry companies are to be found. The 16th Street Mall is the city’s pride and a splendid avenue that boasts the longest pedestrianised area in the USA plus a free bus service! It contains several shopping malls, restaurants and all kinds of shops with products from all over the world. The shining red rocks on the outskirts of Colorado Springs are a striking spectacle within the Garden Of The Gods. The huge red sandstone rock formations rise to a height of up to a hundred and fifty metres. The natural monuments are a reminder of the geological past of this extraordinary region situated at the foot of the Rocky Mountains Directly next to the caves at the foot of Pike’s Peak are the caves in which the Anasazi Indians once lived, the famous Cliff Dwellings where one can gain a fascinating insight into the culture of the native inhabitants of North America, how they lived, their culture and beliefs. The Indian Museum features Indian culture and work tools and is an impressive record of a long forgotten time and a people that almost became extinct. Sprague Lake is one of the region’s many glacial lakes and is ideal for walkers as well as anglers and boat enthusiasts, and several ranches offer accommodation. Colorado (
i/kɒləˈrædoʊ/, or /kɒləˈrɑːdoʊ/) (Spanish for "ruddy") is a state in the United States encompassing most of the Southern Rocky Mountains as well as the northeastern portion of the Colorado Plateau and the western edge of the Great Plains. Colorado is part of the Western United States, the Southwestern United States, and the Mountain States. Colorado is the 8th most extensive and the 22nd most populous of the 50 United States. The United States Census Bureau estimates that the population of Colorado was 5,456,574 on July 1, 2015, an increase of 8.50% since the 2010 United States Census.
The state was named for the Colorado River, which Spanish travelers named the Río Colorado for the ruddy (Spanish: colorado) silt the river carried from the mountains. The Territory of Colorado was organized on February 28, 1861, and on August 1, 1876, U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant signed Proclamation 230 admitting Colorado to the Union as the 38th state. Colorado is nicknamed the "Centennial State" because it became a state 28 days after the centennial of the United States Declaration of Independence.

Checkout our amazing 3 day trip to Colorado. We started off day 1 driving from Denver International Airport to Maroon Bells. This most photographed peak in all of North America has beautiful glacial valley while surrounded by 14,000 - foot peaks. Second day we hiked the challenging and breathtaking trail to Hanging Lake. As you step out from the trees and see this crystal-blue lake and bridal veil waterfalls, you will forget about that hike. Denver is the capital of the U.S. state of Colorado and is located at 1,600 metres above sea level, on a sunny high plateau on the edge of the Rocky Mountains. A number of brave pioneers once believed that Denver would be an ideal centre of trade and despite Indian hostilities and various other hazards, they decided to build a town in this region. The 16th Street Mall is the city's pride. Inaugurated in 1982, it is a splendid avenue that boasts the longest pedestrianised area in the U.S.A. Trees, fountains and sculptures adorn the street as well as horses and carriages. On Arapahoe Street, close to 16th Street ,is the Daniels And Fisher Tower. In 1911, William Cooke Daniels ordered the construction of a bell tower above his shop. It resembled the Campanile of Venice and was designed to create a good degree of southern charm. Denver became a boomtown when the railroad arrived in 1870. The Native Indians were forced to make way for those arriving by railroad and who were attracted by the possibility of making an easy buck. This once lively village has now developed into a modern city and the former trading arenas for fur, gold and silver have now been replaced by a skyline of glittering skyscrapers! -

"That's a terrible name," the creature stood back and with its bony arm flung a rock into the pond in front of them. The little girl watched the rock rhythmically skim the water as it bounced several times before plunging beneath the depths. She could hardly contain her amazement. "Are you a sorcerer?!" "A sorcerer?" The creature snapped back as it puffed up its chest and stood face to face with the little girl. "Do I look like a sorcerer?" "Of course not!" The little girl decided it best to give an answer that would induce the least amount of anger from the tempermental creature. "Really now? You think I don't look intimidating enough to be a sorcerer, do you?" The creature raised a fist to the little girl who took a few steps back. Finally, the creature lowered its fist and broke into laughter. "Tortoise tits I'm joking. I'm not a sorcerer. I'm just a girl. Just a simple, boring, girl like you." The creature tossed another rock into the pond that skipped five times before sinking beneath the water. "I am?" The little girl watched the creature -- or the other girl, rather -- skip a third rock across the pond. "Yes," the creature responded, "You are a girl. A very strange one at that." The little smiled at the idea that she might bare some fragment of resemblance to this fascinating creature that stood next to her in the swamp... Thanks for reading, guys! Checkout our amazing 3 day trip to Colorado. We started off day 1 driving from Denver International Airport to Maroon Bells. This most photographed peak in all of North America has beautiful glacial valley while surrounded by 14,000 - foot peaks. Second day we hiked the challenging and breathtaking trail to Hanging Lake. As you step out from the trees and see this crystal-blue lake and bridal veil waterfalls, you will forget about that hike. It contains several shopping malls, restaurants and all kinds of shops with products from all over the world. The shining red rocks on the outskirts of Colorado Springs are a striking spectacle within the Garden Of The Gods. The huge red sandstone rock formations rise to a height of up to a hundred and fifty metres. The natural monuments are a reminder of the geological past of this extraordinary region situated at the foot of the Rocky Mountains Directly next to the caves at the foot of Pike’s Peak are the caves in which the Anasazi Indians once lived, the famous Cliff Dwellings where one can gain a fascinating insight into the culture of the native inhabitants of North America, how they lived, their culture and beliefs. Checkout our amazing 3 day trip to Colorado. We started off day 1 driving from Denver International Airport to Maroon Bells. This most photographed peak in all of North America has beautiful glacial valley while surrounded by 14,000 - foot peaks. Second day we hiked the challenging and breathtaking trail to Hanging Lake. As you step out from the trees and see this crystal-blue lake and bridal veil waterfalls, you will forget about that hike. For the last day we took the Cog Railway to Pikes Peak, the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The trip becomes even more amazing because you have your friends with you.

Denver is the capital of the U.S. state of Colorado and is located at 1,600 metres above sea level, on a sunny high plateau on the edge of the Rocky Mountains.
A number of brave pioneers once believed that Denver would be an ideal centre of trade and despite Indian hostilities and various other hazards, they decided to build a town in this region.
The 16th Street Mall is the city's pride. Inaugurated in 1982, it is a splendid avenue that boasts the longest pedestrianised area in the U.S.A. Trees, fountains and sculptures adorn the street as well as horses and carriages.
On Arapahoe Street, close to 16th Street ,is the Daniels And Fisher Tower. In 1911, William Cooke Daniels ordered the construction of a bell tower above his shop. It resembled the Campanile of Venice and was designed to create a good degree of southern charm.
Denver became a boomtown when the railroad arrived in 1870. The Native Indians were forced to make way for those arriving by railroad and who were attracted by the possibility of making an easy buck.
This once lively village has now developed into a modern city and the former trading arenas for fur, gold and silver have now been replaced by a skyline of glittering skyscrapers!

We saw some pretty big grows as well as experienced a bit of the Colorado lifestyle on our trip! A HUGE shout out to Stanleigh Gram and Baked Kreations Glass for showing me up such hospitality on my trip!
On this trip I traveled with my Nikon D3300 and my 18-55mm lens as well as my GoPro Hero 4 Silver! I find these to be suitable for most of my needs while not carrying a ton of equipment with me!

The creature spoke sharply, its patience waning. "Stop lying. What do people call you?"
The little girl trembled, unsure how to satisfy the demanding creature's question.
"That's it. They call me evil. It's is the only thing anyone has ever called me,"
Though the little girl had only repeated her answer, it seemed to have calmed the creature's aggression... for that moment.
"That's a terrible name," the creature stood back and with its bony arm flung a rock into the pond in front of them. The little girl watched the rock rhythmically skim the water as it bounced several times before plunging beneath the depths. She could hardly contain her amazement.
"Are you a sorcerer?!"
"A sorcerer?" The creature snapped back as it puffed up its chest and stood face to face with the little girl. "Do I look like a sorcerer?"
"Of course not!" The little girl decided it best to give an answer that would induce the least amount of anger from the tempermental creature.
"Really now? You think I don't look intimidating enough to be a sorcerer, do you?" The creature raised a fist to the little girl who took a few steps back.
Finally, the creature lowered its fist and broke into laughter.
"Tortoise tits I'm joking. I'm not a sorcerer. I'm just a girl. Just a simple, boring, girl like you."
The creature tossed another rock into the pond that skipped five times before sinking beneath the water.
"I am?" The little girl watched the creature -- or the other girl, rather -- skip a third rock across the pond.
"Yes," the creature responded, "You are a girl. A very strange one at that."
The little smiled at the idea that she might bare some fragment of resemblance to this fascinating creature that stood next to her in the swamp...

The movie is one portion of a large outreach project in which scientifically accurate animations are created for outreach presentations.
A longer movie is in preparation that is designed for a more general audience. We will post that version as soon as it is finished.

The huge red sandstone rock formations rise to a height of up to a hundred and fifty metres. The natural monuments are a reminder of the geological past of this extraordinary region situated at the foot of the Rocky Mountains Directly next to the caves at the foot of Pike’s Peak are the caves in which the Anasazi Indians once lived, the famous Cliff Dwellings where one can gain a fascinating insight into the culture of the native inhabitants of North America, how they lived, their culture and beliefs. The Indian Museum features Indian culture and work tools and is an impressive record of a long forgotten time and a people that almost became extinct. Twenty years ago Andrew Michler bought a $60,000 solar shack in the Colorado mountains that “immediately fell apart” and inspired two decades of experiments in off-grid living. Today, he and his wife live in the reconfigured shack and he has turned a former shed on the property into an ultra low-consuming Passive House (Passivhaus).
“Passive House is an international building standard that focuses on how to reduce energy consumption in building by about 90% and they did it by physics really it wasn’t developed by builders it was developed by physicists,” explains Michler. “Everything how a building interacts with its environment, the thermal dynamics of how heat transfers through materials, the way that energy is produced in the building, how solar gains come into the building or are avoided in a building so this entire building is basically designed in a spreadsheet.”
The home is shaped in a wedge which helps with passive solar orientation and also helps avoid unnecessary surface area and heat loss. The wedge also contributes to an unconventional open plan interior which includes a hanging net bed.

Fort Collins Police asked Jeremy Holmes to drop the hunting knife he was holding more than 40 times before fatally shooting the 19-year-old man July 1 near the Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins, body camera footage released Tuesday shows. Police were alerted that Holmes was walking to his brother's residence at the Aggie Village Apartments just south of CSU's campus with a large knife by a 911 call from Holmes' mother. The woman reported that Holmes had left the residence after saying he was going to kill his brother and sister-in-law, who lived at the Aggie Village Apartments, and that Jeremy Holmes had struggled with mental health issues in the past. The woman said to dispatchers that Holmes told her he planned to charge police and force them to shoot him, and he said she would "lose either one or two sons" that night. Officer Phil Morris with CSU police responded to the area of Whitcomb Street and Prospect Road, where he saw Holmes holding a large knife. In the video, Morris pulled out his patrol pistol and immediately began instructing Holmes to drop the knife, and backed away from Holmes as he continued walking toward the officer.
Holmes refused to drop the knife, and uttered phrases such as, "Kill me now," and, "My life is over." Fort Collins police Officer Erin Mast was responding to a different call, but saw Morris with his weapon drawn as she drove on Prospect with her lights flashing. She stopped and tried to assist Morris, pulling out her firearm and also pleading with Holmes to drop the knife. With Mast's cover, Morris can be heard saying he is going to try shooting Holmes with a Taser, but as he goes to pull the Taser, Holmes charges Morris with the knife. Morris redrew his gun and fired four times at Holmes, and Mast also fired twice, with all six rounds hitting Holmes, according to Jones. Both Holmes' mother and brother have seen the body-camera footage, Jones said. "I think the officers have certain tools that are available to them, and some are less lethal and some are not," Harris said. "In this case the officer made a decision to try and transition to that less lethal option, and I'm not going to sit here and second-guess him. If it had worked, it would have been a great day for everybody."

Rocky Mountain Railfanning! A Week of Trains Around Denver, CO w/ Royal Gorge & Vintage Power!
Every year, my family and I go out to Colorado for a week or so. They were generous enough to take me railfanning in several of the state's best places. Here is an entire week's worth of trains in August 2016. Dates of clips: 8/8-8/13/16 (dates for each location shown in video) The first location is Moffat Tunnel, the 6-mile passage way for trains thru the Continental Divide. While waiting for a train to come, I was expecting an Amtrak train. I was surprised by the higher headlight and the lower ditchlights, different than an Amtrak P42, of a UP GEVO leading a manifest out of the east portal. The next location was Palmer Lake, CO. After some lunch at a local train-themed diner, we saw a BNSF MOW truck go thru, and then eventually a coal train lead by an SD70ACe and a BNSF Executive SD70MA...

Every year, my family and I go out to Colorado for a week or so. They were generous enough to take me railfanning in several of the state's best places. Here is an entire week's worth of trains in August 2016.

The first location is Moffat Tunnel, the 6-mile passage way for trains thru the Continental Divide. While waiting for a train to come, I was expecting an Amtrak train. I was surprised by the higher headlight and the lower ditchlights, different than an Amtrak P42, of a UP GEVO leading a manifest out of the east portal.
The next location was Palmer Lake, CO. After some lunch at a local train-themed diner, we saw a BNSF MOW truck go thru, and then eventually a coal train lead by an SD70ACe and a BNSF Executive SD70MAC! These MACs have been in storage for a while and now since coal traffic is up BNSF took them out for use. a GEVO and SD70ACe were DPU's on that train. You'll see the shot of the train heading over the lake in the distance making for a great shot.
The next spot was south Colorado Springs, CO where a BNSF pair of GEVOs lead a windmill-shaft train. After that northbound, we headed north to see some UP switching activity in the yard with two Union Pacific GP engines.
A good chunk of this video is the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. Before and after the actual ride, I explored some of Canon City and got some good shots of some very cool railroad equipment. The Royal Gorge train ride itself is awesome, and highlights are shown in this video.
The last shot of this video was video from Hwy 25 of a southbound BNSF coal train with 4 SD70ACes for power.

Every year, my family and I go out to Colorado for a week or so. They were generous enough to take me railfanning in several of the state's best places. Here is an entire week's worth of trains in August 2016.
Dates of clips: 8/8-8/13/16 (dates for each location shown in video)
The first location is Moffat Tunnel, the 6-mile passage way for trains thru the Continental Divide. While waiting for a train to come, I was expecting an Amtrak train. I was surprised by the higher headlight and the lower ditchlights, different than an Amtrak P42, of a UP GEVO leading a manifest out of the east portal.
The next location was Palmer Lake, CO. After some lunch at a local train-themed diner, we saw a BNSF MOW truck go thru, and then eventually a coal train lead by an SD70ACe and a BNSF Executive SD70MAC! These MACs have been in storage for a while and now since coal traffic is up BNSF took them out for use. a GEVO and SD70ACe were DPU's on that train. You'll see the shot of the train heading over the lake in the distance making for a great shot.
The next spot was south Colorado Springs, CO where a BNSF pair of GEVOs lead a windmill-shaft train. After that northbound, we headed north to see some UP switching activity in the yard with two Union Pacific GP engines.
A good chunk of this video is the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. Before and after the actual ride, I explored some of Canon City and got some good shots of some very cool railroad equipment. The Royal Gorge train ride itself is awesome, and highlights are shown in this video.
The last shot of this video was video from Hwy 25 of a southbound BNSF coal train with 4 SD70ACes for power.

Gold mining in northern British Columbia Canada chasing down placer gold in the remote woods can be a hard task and spending the last 18 years chasing the dream of one day become a full-time gold miner has been a bit of work and a whole lot of adventure. Exploring for gold is a life changing event and doing the job right for a sucssesfull gold mine and the environment isn't easy but will pay in gold and one great experince to remember as well. After the 2016 placer gold sampling project I look forward to finally opening up this gold mine in 2017 as the ground in this gold claim has finally proved to me to be the best chance I have at a successful gold mining venture.....So I hope you enjoy this gold mining documentary of my gold mining adventures. It has more to do with a proper study of a area and taking the time to make sure a mine will will work before opening it up at all. Around 95% of mines fail due to gold fever and get rich thinking. The most succesful gold miners are the one who take the proper steps and don't let the greed do the talking and are more into the life style of being a gold miner and this is the intent of this on going gold mining documentary. So be patient and enjoy the hunt for gold and if your goal is to be a gold miner or opening up a gold mine the more you think and look the better your chances at a successful gold mine.
