65daysofstatic (often abbreviated as 65dos, 65days, or simply 65) are an instrumental electronic post/math rock band. Formed in Sheffield, England, in 2001, the band is composed of Paul Wolinski, Joe Shrewsbury, Rob Jones and Simon Wright.
The band’s music has been described as heavy, progressive, guitar-driven instrumental post-rock, interspersed with live drums and off-beat sampled drums akin to those of Aphex Twin, although they have continued to evolve their sound by incorporating electronic music, drum and bass and glitch music. They have been described as, "a soundtrack to a new dimension, where rock, dance and electronica are equals."
Their debut album, The Fall of Math, was released in September 2004, to critical acclaim, described as "an album that can retain the dynamics, fraught tension and climactic explosiveness of its peers and influences, whilst still sounding like one of the most urgent and direct long-player releases of the year." The band went on to release a further four studio albums, One Time for All Time, The Destruction of Small Ideas, We Were Exploding Anyway, Wild Light and a soundtrack, Silent Running, respectively.
Silent Running is a 1972 environmentally-themed American post-apocalyptic science fiction film starring Bruce Dern, featuring Cliff Potts, Ron Rifkin and Jesse Vint. It was directed by Douglas Trumbull, who had previously worked as a special effects supervisor on science fiction films, including 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Andromeda Strain.
In the future all plant life on Earth has become extinct. A few specimens have been preserved in enormous, greenhouse-like geodesic domes attached to a fleet of American Airlines space freighters, currently just outside the orbit of Saturn. Freeman Lowell (Bruce Dern), one of four crewmen aboard the Valley Forge, is the resident botanist and ecologist who carefully preserves a variety of plants for their eventual return to Earth and the reforestation of the planet. Lowell spends most of his time in the domes, both cultivating the crops and attending to the animal life.
Orders come from Earth to jettison and destroy the domes (with nuclear charges) and return the freighters to commercial service. After four of the six domes are jettisoned and blown up Lowell rebels and opts instead to save the plants and animals on his ship. Lowell kills one of his crew-mates who arrives to plant explosives in his favorite dome, with his right knee seriously injured in the process. He traps the remaining two crewmen in the other dome, just as it is jettisoned and destroyed.
Wild Light was an American four-piece indie rock band from New Hampshire, United States, composed of multi-instrumentalists/vocalists Tim Kyle and Seth Pitman, guitarist/vocalist Jordan Alexander, and drummer Seth Kasper. The band formed in 2005 and released its first full-length album, Adult Nights, in March 2009. Kyle is a former member of the Canadian band, Arcade Fire.
Wild Light began when Tim and Jordan began making music together in elementary school. In high school, they joined with Seth Pitman and Seth Kasper to form a band. Jordan attended Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, where he shared a room with Win Butler - future lead singer of Arcade Fire. Tim met Win through Jordan, and after high school Tim moved to Montreal to start the first incarnation of what would become Arcade Fire with Win and Josh Deu, the artist behind the Adult Nights cover. Tim left the group after a year, and in 2005 Kasper, Seth, Jordan and Tim reunited to form Wild Light. Through their relationship with Arcade Fire, the two bands toured extensively throughout Europe in late 2007. In the summer of 2008, Wild Light traveled to Los Angeles and entered the recording studio to work with producer Rob Schnapf on their debut album, Adult Nights (StarTime International), which was released on March 3, 2009.
No Man's Sky is an upcoming adventure survival video game developed and published by the indie studio Hello Games. Players are free to explore the entirety of a procedurally generated deterministic open universe, which includes over 18 quintillion (1.8×1019) planets, many with their own set of flora and fauna. By exploring, players will gain information about the planets that they can submit to The Atlas, a universal database that can be shared with other players of the game. Players also gain materials and blueprints to upgrade their character's equipment and purchase a variety of starships, allowing them to travel deeper into the center of the galaxy, interact in friendly or hostile manners to computer-controlled space-faring factions, or trade with other ships.
Some activities will draw the attention of Sentinels which will attempt to kill the player-character for killing too many lifeforms or draining too many resources from these planets. Players participate in a shared universe, with the ability to exchange planet coordinates with friends, though the game will also be fully playable offline; this is enabled by the procedural generation system that assures players will find the same planet with the same features, lifeforms, and other aspects once given the planet coordinates, requiring no further data to be stored or retrieved from game servers.

Silent Running is the fifth studio album by 65daysofstatic. It is an alternate soundtrack to the 1972 science fiction film, Silent Running. It was originally commissioned by Glasgow Film Festival at the beginning of 2011 as a live re-score performed by the band. In July 2011, the band announced their intention to fund a studio recording of the Silent Running soundtrack by raising $7500 through the crowd-funding website Indiegogo. By the end of the funding period they had raised over $27,000. Silent Running was released in mid-November 2011 as a numbered, limited edition vinyl LP to those Indiegogo funders who had paid for this option, and as a digital download from the band's website. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_...) For their first video game soundtrack project, noisy instrumental band 65daysofstatic certainly picked a blinder. Exploring the uncharted universe of No Man’s Sky needed a suitably sci-fi audio accompaniment and 65daysofstatic rose to the challenge of creating a soundtrack that included procedural elements to match the many and varied choices the player would make in the game. For the first time, Laced Records, 65daysofstatic and Hello Games are excited to unveil the first live video recording of three tracks from the No Man’s Sky soundtrack. The live video was recorded at 2fly Studios in the band’s native city, Sheffield in the UK, and includes live performances of Red Parallax, Monolith and Asimov.
