We're using the book by Chalcy and Kyra Sundance called 101 Dog Tricks for trick ideas and the Leerburg marker method article for training technique. She also just started a puppy class at PetSmart, where we're working on socialization and other fundamentals that would be hard to get at home.

Kyra Sundance
Kyra Sundance (born July 20, 1970 in Orange County, California) is a dog trainer, performer, and author.
Kyra and her Weimaraners perform live acrobatic shows, and have appeared at professional sports halftime shows, and on television shows such as The Tonight Show, Ellen, ET, Worldwide Fido Awards, Animal Planet's Pet Star, Showdog Moms & Dads, and Disney’s Underdog stage show at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood. Kyra and her dogs performed a command performance in Marrakech for the King of Morocco.
Before her performing career, Kyra was active in competitive dog sports, earning titles in Obedience, Agility, and Hunting. Kyra also works as a set trainer for dog actors on sets such as "Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2" and "My Dog Ate What."
Kyra is best known for her first book, "101 Dog Tricks" which is an international best seller and has been translated into 15 languages.
Kyra and her Weimaraners Chalcy and Jadie live with Kyra’s husband on a ranch in California’s Mojave desert.

Animal Planet
Animal Planet is an American basic cable and satellite television channel owned by Discovery Communications. Originally focused on more educationally-based television shows, the network has featured more reality programming since the late 2000s. It is available throughout the United States, as well as in over 70 countries around the world. Country-specific versions of the channel have been created in Canada, India, Japan, Taiwan and other countries.
As of February 2015, approximately 94,288,000 American households (81% of households with television) receive Animal Planet.
History
Animal Planet was launched on October 1, 1996; it was created by Discovery Communications in cooperation with the British Broadcasting Corporation. On January 1, 1997, Animal Planet's distribution grew as a result of Advance Entertainment Corporation selling the satellite transponder slot belonging to the WWOR EMI Service (a national superstation feed of Secaucus, New Jersey/New York City's WWOR-TV, that was implemented following the 1989 passage of the Syndication Exclusivity Rights Rule by the Federal Communications Commission) to Discovery Communications, replacing the feed with Animal Planet outright.

Federico Buffa torna a raccontarci l'edizione 2017 del Sundance Film Festival in un ricco ed emozionate speciale. Quest'anno il Festival è stato caratterizzato da un aumentato impegno civile e politico e anche da una autentica tormenta di neve. E se Robert Redford durante l'inaugurazione ha dichiarato che il "Festival si mantiene lontano dalla politica per lasciare la parola agli artisti", non sono altresì mancate le pellicole dall'impronta decisamente politica. Basti pensare a Last Men in Aleppo (premiato come miglior documentario nella sezione World cinema) del siriano Fares Fayyad e del danese Steel Johannesen che affronta la guerra in Siria dal punto di vista dei volontari che ogni giorno rischiano tutto per salvare i superstiti tra le macerie dei bombardamenti.
Anche il tema dell'ambiente è stato uno degli argomenti più presenti nelle pellicole di questa edizione. Tant'è che il premio del pubblico è andato a Chasing Coral del regista Jeff Orlowski che racconta i pericoli del global warming. Quest'anno il Festival ha visto anche il ritorno di Al Gore che dopo “An Inconvenient truth” ha portato al Sundance “An inconvenient sequel” che racconta come sia peggiorata la situazione del pianeta, indicano però anche una possibile via d'uscita. Nello Speciale Sundance, Buffa ci svela anche il rapporto fra il Festival e le star parlandoci di Michelle Pfeiffer e del lungometraggio “Where is Kyra ?” e di Cate Blanchett, protagonista del film “Manifesto” diretto dal videoartista Julian Rosefeldt, nel quale la Blanchett interpreta 13 ruoli diversi. Senza dimenticare Jay Z che ha portoto al Sundance il primo episodio della docuserie in sei episodi “Time”, incentrata sulla storia di Kalief Browder, ingiustamente detenuto per il furto di uno zaino e in seguito morto suicida. Da segnalare anche un' intervista a Luca Guadagnino, presente al Festival con il film Call Me By Your Name, e la premiere del film Rebel in the Rye scritto e diretto da Danny Strong, al suo debutto alla regia cinematografica. Basata sul libro J. D. Salinger: A Life di Kenneth Slawenski, la pellicola racconta la vita dello scrittore J. D. Salinger, interpretato da Nicholas Hoult. Oltre a Hoult fanno parte del cast anche Zoey Deutch, Kevin Spacey, Sarah Paulson, Brian d'Arcy James, e Victor Garber.

The Road Within: A young man with Tourette's Syndrome embarks on a road trip with his recently-deceased mother's ashes.
Gren Wells was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut. After attending Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, Wells moved to New York City, where she starred in six indie films over a two-year span, one of which, Man About Town, won Best Short Film at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival. After moving to Los Angeles, Wells became a stand-up comic and wrote her first feature script, A Little Bit of Heaven.
Her first script, A Little Bit of Heaven, was sold to 20th Century Fox. This script later found a home at The Film Department and starred Kate Hudson, Gael Garcia Bernal, Kathy Bates, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lucy Punch, Romany Malco, and Peter Dinklage.
Her second film, The Road Within, is Wells' directorial debut. After premiering at the Los Angeles Film Festival it was acquired by Well Go USA. It stars Zoe Kravitz, Dev Patel, Robert Sheehan, Robert Patrick and Kyra Sedgwick and is scheduled for theatrical release on April 17, 2015.

Recently, at the SuperZoo 2015 trade show at Mandalay Bay, I had the opportunity to experience the true meaning of a “dog-day afternoon.”
That’s when I got the chance to do a fun interview with world-acclaimed Stunt Dog Show performer/celebrity dog trainer/internationally bestselling author Krya Sundance and her seven-year-old female Weimaraner, Jadie. Yes, Kyra did most of the talking but if you think that Jadie didn’t answer some of the questions all on her own that I asked her, then you’re barking up the wrong tree, as this video will prove.
Before the interview, Jadie showed off her well-trained skills by doing several stunts, including painting on a canvas using a paintbrush that she wielded in her mouth and picking up her toys and putting them in her toy box, which she opened and closed herself, all at Kyra’s command. With her training based on her feeling that “every dog deserves a place,” Kyra issued her commands from The Klimb, a platform with legs that dogs begin to think of as their “place,” which allows them to quickly focus and ignore distractions and on which they are rewarded upon following commands.
Kyra's world-acclaimed acrobatic Stunt Dog Team performs on premier stages internationally at circuses, professional sports halftime shows, and on television shows such as The Tonight Show (twice), Ellen, ET, Worldwide Fido Awards, Animal Planet, Showdog Moms & Dads, and more. Kyra and her dogs starred in Disney’s Underdog stage show, and starred in a command performance in Marrakech for the King of Morocco.
Kyra is also a bestselling author of several books. Her book 101 Dog Tricks has achieved major global success. She is nationally ranked in competitive dog sports, works as a set trainer for dog actors, and lectures for international professional dog organizations.
