Gibraltar /dʒᵻˈbrɔːltər/ is a British Overseas Territory located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula at the entrance of the Mediterranean. It has an area of 6.7 km2 (2.6 sq mi) and shares its northern border with the Province of Cádiz in Andalusia, Spain. The Rock of Gibraltar is the major landmark of the region. At its foot is a densely populated city area, home to over 30,000 Gibraltarians and other nationalities.
An Anglo-Dutch force captured Gibraltar from Spain in 1704 during the War of the Spanish Succession on behalf of the Habsburg pretender to the Spanish throne. The territory was subsequently ceded to Britain "in perpetuity" under the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. During World War II it was an important base for the Royal Navy as it controlled the entrance and exit to the Mediterranean Sea, which is only eight miles (13 km) wide at this point. Today Gibraltar's economy is based largely on tourism, online gambling, financial services, and shipping.
The sovereignty of Gibraltar is a major point of contention in Anglo-Spanish relations as Spain asserts a claim to the territory. Gibraltarians overwhelmingly rejected proposals for Spanish sovereignty in a 1967 referendum and again in 2002. Under the Gibraltar constitution of 2006, Gibraltar governs its own affairs, though some powers, such as defence and foreign relations, remain the responsibility of the Government of the United Kingdom.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom (UK) or Britain, is a sovereign state in the European Union. Lying off the north-western coast of the European mainland, it includes the island of "Great Britain" (a term also applied loosely to refer to the whole country), the north-eastern part of the island of Ireland and many smaller islands.Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK that shares a land border with another state—the Republic of Ireland. Apart from this land border, the UK is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, with the North Sea to its east, the English Channel to its south and the Celtic Sea to its south-southwest. The Irish Sea lies between Great Britain and Ireland. With an area of 93,800 square miles (243,000 km2), the UK is the 80th-largest sovereign state in the world and the 11th-largest in Europe. It is also is the 21st-most populous country, with an estimated 64.5 million inhabitants.
The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of governance. Its capital city is London, an important global city and financial centre with an urban population of 10,310,000, the fourth-largest in Europe and second-largest in the European Union. The current monarch—since 6 February 1952—is Queen Elizabeth II. The UK consists of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The latter three have devolved administrations, each with varying powers, based in their capitals, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast, respectively. The nearby Isle of Man, Bailiwick of Guernsey and Bailiwick of Jersey are not part of the United Kingdom, being Crown dependencies with the British Government responsible for defence and international representation.
British Airways, often shortened to BA, is the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom and the largest airline in the United Kingdom based on fleet size. When measured by passengers carried, it is second-largest in United Kingdom (behind easyJet). The airline is based in Waterside near its main hub at London Heathrow Airport.
A British Airways Board was established by the United Kingdom government in 1972 to manage the two nationalized airline corporations, British Overseas Airways Corporation and British European Airways, and two smaller, regional airlines, Cambrian Airways, from Cardiff, and Northeast Airlines, from Newcastle upon Tyne. On 31 March 1974, all four companies were merged to form British Airways. After almost 13 years as a state company, British Airways was privatised in February 1987 as part of a wider privatisation plan by the Conservative government. The carrier soon expanded with the acquisition of British Caledonian in 1987, followed by Dan-Air in 1992 and British Midland International in 2012.
We flew to Gibraltar for one weekend to see how much you can get done in 48 hours. As long as the weather is good, it could be the perfect weekend getaway. However, Gibraltar is notorious for it's unique weather patterns and as we find out, that can lead to delays. Sights include Europa Point, Catalan Bay, Ocean Village, The Rock, St Michaels Cave and of course the Monkeys / apes. Our accommodation, featured in the film, is the 5 star Sunborn Gibraltar Super Yacht. Spanish foreign minister Alfonso Dastis has said his government had been "surprised by the tone of comments coming out of Britain" about Gibraltar. He told a Madrid conference: "It seems someone is losing their cool." On Sunday ex-Conservative leader Lord Howard said the UK would be willing to defend Gibraltar in the same way it defended the Falklands 35 years ago. And Gibraltar's chief minister Fabian Picardo said: "Gibraltar is not a bargaining chip in these negotiations." "Gibraltar belongs to the Gibraltarians and we want to stay British." The EU has effectively handed Spain a veto over the future of Gibraltar in its Brexit negotiating guidelines. The negotiating principles from the European Council stipulate that any future trade deal between the EU and the UK will not apply to the British territory - unless it is agreed by Spain. Gibraltar Airport is listed as one of the most dangerous Airports in the World. Not at least because of it's only 1777m long runway, but also because of the 4-lane Winston Churchill Road, which crosses the runway. My 4K Video shows Airbus A320 Jets of British Airways with flights from and to London at the Airport including a 'nice' crosswind approach. Captured on 09.04.2016. Aufnahmen vom 09.04.2016.

Last week, British Prime Minister Theresa May began the formal process of the United Kingdom’s exit from the 28-nation European Union, nine months after British voters chose to leave the EU. This has the British citizens of Gibraltar, a 3-square-mile sliver of land in southern Spain that’s more than 1,000 miles away from London, worried. NewsHour Weekend special correspondent Amy Guttman reports.
http://bookinghunter.com Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula at the entrance of the Mediterranean. The most important places to visit in Gibraltar are: The Rock (the Rock of Gibraltar marks a gateway between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean and between Europe and Africa), Barbary Apes (despite their mislabeling as apes, these tail-less monkeys have made a name for themselves on Gibraltar), St. Michael's Cave (the geological formations continue into the Earth, as this cave goes deep into the Rock of Gibraltar itself), Great Siege Tunnels (also in the Rock itself are tunnels used by the British in their defense against assailing Spaniards who sought to reclaim Gibraltar in the 18th century), Cable Car Ride (for under 1...

David Powell, Silver Travel Advisor and travel editor, takes a closer look at Gibraltar. This British Overseas Territory is a vibrant destination combining the spirit of the Mediterranean with British Tradition. Home from home but with an exotic twist, an average of 320 days of sunshine a year, a regular cruise destination, an amazing history, Barbary Apes and duty free shopping!! The country has been under the Spanish, Muslim and English rule. You can see the signs of each. Plus some breathtaking views (including the African coast when the weather permits), tame and greedy monkeys, and noisy shoppers. I recommend a Gib Rock Ride that will take you to St.Michael's cave. On the way the driver-guide will tell you everything that's to be said, and much more. Mine was an extremely nice and talkative local patriot.

Adam et Eve,
Si un navire pour que l'on s'aime
Pleure pas Eve
Y a pas de mal à penser à sa pomme.
(Abd Al Malik)
