Norway (i/ˈnɔːrweɪ/ NAWR-way; Norwegian: Norge (Bokmål) or Noreg (Nynorsk)), officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a sovereign and unitary monarchy whose territory comprises the western portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula plus the island Jan Mayen and the archipelago of Svalbard. The Antarctic Peter I Island and the sub-Antarctic Bouvet Island are dependent territories and thus not considered part of the Kingdom. Norway also lays claim to a section of Antarctica known as Queen Maud Land. Until 1814, the Kingdom included the Faroe Islands (since 1035), Greenland (1261), and Iceland (1262). It also included Shetland and Orkney until 1468.
Norway has a total area of 385,252 square kilometres (148,747 sq mi) and a population of 5,109,059 people (2014). The country shares a long eastern border with Sweden (1,619 km or 1,006 mi long). Norway is bordered by Finland and Russia to the north-east, and the Skagerrak Strait to the south, with Denmark on the other side. Norway has an extensive coastline, facing the North Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea.

Acting Police Chief Sveinung Sponheim says a man was arrested in the shooting, and the suspect had been observed in Oslo before the explosion there.

Ever since the big announcement carried worldwide in 2015 that Oslo, Norway's new progressive city government planned to make the downtown car-free by 2019, I immediately put it on my list of places I wanted to go and see what's up. And that only got more intriguing a year later when following that fanfare, there wasn't a ton of news or documentation updating us on Oslo's progress towards its amazing goal. So in fall 2016 I went- not knowing if I'd find if progress was slow or fast, and how much I could show visually. First off, it is a lovely, clean city. It already features some nice blocks of car-free or car-light pedestrian zones which are heavily populated even late at night. And I knew it was a good sign when I stepped off the bus from the airport a block later and I stumbled upon c...

A video text response to various disinformation agents on YT & other places, who suggest Islamic culture & law (sharia) are the answers to the current problems facing the West. YT user 108Morris108 regularly disseminates misinformation regarding behaviour of Muslims in the West, & suggests we should all adapt their culture, because Western culture is depraved. He holds the culture responsible for his freedom in contempt, & in favour of an oppressive culture. He has deleted my comments on his vids that tell the truth. He refuses to acknowledge that the same people who brought in Muslim immigrants to create discord & displace Europeans, are the same ones who have subverted & perverted Western culture. He wants sharia law to fix everything, & to remove all the rights we hold precious in t...

Better than Premium Economy but not quite Business Class, Norwegian's Premium service from LAX to LGW is a economical alternative to Business Class tickets that can cost upwards of $5,000. 2017 At last! This is the Latest, Newest Updated Version of the Cost of Living in Norway, Oslo for this year 2016 and 2017.Well, at least I hope the inflation won't rise that much. Dear Norwegians, do confirm with me if this is true or not cause all my friends are complaining a lot about the increasing prices of properties in Oslo. Well, if you don't mind the r...

However, it is also useful to take a step back and think about our longer-term choices – choices about different economic and social models and how they can be applied to Ireland. The Nordic countries are often viewed as being enviably successful, enjoying economic efficiency and growth combined with peaceful labour relations, social cohesion, a fair distribution of income and high quality of life. Although critics have questioned the sustainability of this success, not least due to the challenges of globalisation, the models of development adopted by the Nordic countries (generally referring to Denmark, Finland, Iceland...

In addition to holding seminars on economics and dialoge, from time to time Irene create projects in collaboration with different artists. ...

To understand the Norwegian culture, we want to teach you about some Norwegian customs that can seem weird at first, but in the long run they can help you assimilate into the community. The Norwegians are great at organizing festivals and events where like-minded people get together to listen to music, eat food or do outdoor activities. Attending festivals and events around the country also allows you to explore the local nature and find new sights to see. We understand that it can be difficult to imagine what student life in Norway might look like. To help you out, we've created "A Norwegian Study Guide" based on experiences from our current international students. You might be surprised, you might be amused, but most of all we hope that you will become excited to learn more about livi...

Health Care in Norway from "International Health Care Systems". All of the 5.165.802 people in Norway (2015) have access to a taxpayer-funded public healthcare system. The population has good health status with a life expectancy of almost 82 years. The health care system is partly decentralised. Four different Regional Health Authorities are responsible for the specialist care within and outside hospitals (including specialised cardiac rehabilitation), while more than 400 municipalities are responsible for the primary care. There were 77 cardiologists per million inhabitants in 2016. Norwegian costs for health care are approximately 10 % of Norway's gross domestic product (GDP), with a 16th place in the WHO European region in terms of the share of GDP spent on health in 2011. Still, Norw...

Welcome to Oslo, the capital city of Norway. Centuries ago, Viking longships prowled the waters around Norway. Some of those longships survived the ensuing years and found their way to the Viking Ship Museum, which is a must-see on any Oslo tour. The three longships on display here have been recovered from various parts of the country, and the museum also contains a number of artifacts from the Viking Age. Norway’s rich connection to the sea did not stop with the Vikings, though; just over a mile away from the Viking Ship Museum are several other educational complexes dedicated to the salt water that flows through Oslo’s veins. Visit the Norwegian Maritime Museum, the Kon-Tiki Museum, and the Fram Museum to get a fuller idea of Oslo’s seaborne heritage. While in town, stop by the Nobel...

Please subscribe: http://bit.ly/2pmdyeu The plan for Bergen, Norway: walking tour of town center and the outdoor food market on the harbor; visit to the historic Brygen; and ride up the mountain by funicular to get a great view over the city. Our walking tour will have a look at downtown and some of the quiet residential neighborhoods. A short walk to the edge of town brings you to the funicular which takes you up the Floyen Mountain for a marvelous view across the city from a 1000-foot high observation perch. The ride just takes eight minutes, making this an easy excursion. At the top you get a spectacular view of the town of Bergen and the harbor, making a nice way to start the day. We then explore the town, old and new. One of the fun activities is a visit to the colorful open-air f...

With its imposing mountains, endless plateaus and echoing valleys, Norway is a country where nature takes the lead. Using time-lapse, this film attempts to capture the ebb and flow of the seasons and is a result of one year of planning, a second year of shooting and four months of editing. 20,000 kilometers have been travelled, 200,000 photos taken and 20 terabytes worth of hard drives filled. Months have been spent hiking through the mountains, sleeping in tents and travelling through the entire country hunting for the best locations. SEASONS of NORWAY is shot and edited by Morten Rustad. The video is available in up to 8K resolution (7680*4320 letterboxed). We were sleeping till you came along
With your diamond heart
You let us in the wooden house
To share in all the wealth
Don't you know it's true?
Norway eeeay eeeaaaay ay-ay-ay
Seven figures leap the hungry maws
The beastie comes to you
He's a hunter for a lonely heart
In the season of the sun
Don't you know it's true?
Norway eeeay eeeaaaay ay-ay-ay
Where you thinkin' that you gotta run to now
With the beating of a diamond heart?
Hang on to the things that you're supposed to say
Billions of stars that open to your fate
