Eddie Palmieri (born December 15, 1936) is a Grammy Award-winning pianist, bandleader, musician and composer of Puerto Rican ancestry. He is the founder of the bands "La Perfecta" and "La Perfecta II".
Palmieri's parents migrated to New York from Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 1926, and settled in the South Bronx, a largely Hispanic neighborhood. There, he and his elder brother, Charlie Palmieri, were born. He accompanied Charlie and participated in many talent contests when he was eight years old.
Palmieri continued his education in the city's public school system where he was constantly exposed to music, specifically jazz. He took piano lessons and performed at Carnegie Hall when he was 11 years old. His main influences were Thelonious Monk and McCoy Tyner. Inspired by his older brother, he was determined to someday form his own band – something he achieved in 1950, when he was fourteen years old. During the 1950s, Palmieri played in various bands, including Tito Rodríguez's.

Linda Viera Caballero (born March 9, 1969), better known as India and La Princesa de la Salsa ("The Princess of Salsa"), is a singer-songwriter of salsa and house music. She has been nominated for both Grammy and Latin Grammy awards.
Caballero was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. Her parents moved to New York City soon after her birth, and settled down in the South Bronx area of the city. They moved in with Caballero's grandmother, a woman who served as an important influence on Caballero's life. Her stage name, India, was given to Caballero by her grandmother because of her dark features and long straight black hair.
In 1985, when Caballero was 14 years old, she was a founding member of the Latin freestyle group TKA and was featured on the cover of TKA's second single, "Come Get My Love". She left shortly thereafter.
Caballero signed a record contract with Reprise/Warner Bros. Records, which planned on marketing her as the Latin version of Madonna (who recorded for sister label Sire Records). After recording the album Breaking Night, Caballero decided that she didn't want to take that route in her career.
India, officially the Republic of India (Bhārat Gaṇarājya), is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west;China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Myanmar (Burma) and Bangladesh to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives; in addition, India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.
Home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation and a region of historic trade routes and vast empires, the Indian subcontinent was identified with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history. Four religions—Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism—originated here, whereas Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam arrived in the 1st millennium CE and also shaped the region's diverse culture. Gradually annexed by and brought under the administration of the British East India Company from the early 18th century and administered directly by the United Kingdom after the Indian Rebellion of 1857, India became an independent nation in 1947 after a struggle for independence that was marked by non-violent resistance led by Mahatma Gandhi.

India may have exhibited a range of musical abilities over the course of her long and winding career, from freestyle and house to Latin pop and reggaeton, but she'll be defined forever by her run of chart-topping New York salsa hits for the RMM label in the mid- to late '90s, when she was crowned the Princess of Salsa by none other than Celia Cruz. Eddie Palmieri Absolutely the Best of Eddie Palmieri Release Date January 28, 2003 Duration01:12:52 Genre Latin Jazz Styles Afro-Cuban Jazz Cuban Jazz Latin Jazz World Fusion There is something terribly final or absolute about "best of" collections. Often they attempt to sum up the life's work of an artist rather than illuminate a few high points. However, this collection of Eddie Palmieri tunes is a humble offering that gives listeners a taste of the salsa pianist's music, rather than a "completed" story. Listeners should find ABSOLUTELY THE BEST OF to be a point of departure, not a final destination, and songs such as the frenetic "Sabroso Guaguanco" and the laid-back "La Fruta Bomba" are as good as any to begin the journey. Consisting of both studio and live tracks from the 1960s an...
