America withholds $350 Million Coalition Support Fund Payment to Pakistan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will withhold $50 million remaining in military reimbursements to Pakistan for fiscal year 2016 because Defense Secretary Jim Mattis believes that Islamabad has not done enough to blunt the Islamist militant Haqqani network, a U.S. official said on Friday.
The decision was not the first time that the Pentagon has declined to make military reimbursements to Pakistan. Last year, it withheld $300 million. Pakistan has been reimbursed $550 million of the $900 million it was authorized to receive in fiscal year 2016.
Of the rest, $300 million had already been reprogrammed for other purposes, but had not been previously reported. Mattis' latest decision affects the remaining $50 million.
Relations between the two countries have been frayed over the past decade, with U.S. officials frustrated by what they term Pakistan's unwillingness to act against Islamist groups such as the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network.
Adam Stump, a Pentagon spokesman, said the $50 million could not be released now because Mattis "could not certify that Pakistan has taken sufficient action against the Haqqani Network per the requirement in the FY 2016 National Defense Authorization Act."

Die Rekordmenge hat einen Straßenverkaufswert von rund 800 Millionen Euro. Direkt im Anschluss an die Präsentation wurde das Kokain an einem geheimen Ort verbrannt.
Finanzstaatssekretär Werner Gatzer zeigte sich besorgt, denn der massive Fund und die Zunahme an Kokainschmuggel in den vergangenen Jahren zeige, dass das Kokain-Angebot stetig zunimmt. Die Drogen waren bei drei Aktionen im Hamburger Hafen entdeckt und sichergestellt worden. Sie kamen aus Südamerika und sollen für den Drogenmarkt in Belgien bestimmt gewesen sein. Während der Präsentation schützte eine bewaffnete Spezialeinheit den Drogenfund. Auch der Präsentationsort wurde aus Sicherheitsgründen erst wenige Stunden davor bekannt gegeben.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (often called The Global Fund or GFATM) is an international financing organization that aims to "[a]ttract and disburse additional resources to prevent and treat HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria." A public–private partnership, the organization has its secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization began operations in January 2002.Microsoft founder Bill Gates was one of the first private foundations among many bilateral donors to provide seed money for the project.
The Global Fund is the world's largest financier of anti-AIDS, TB and malaria programs and by mid-2012 has approved funding of USD 22.9 billion that supports more than 1,000 programs in 151 countries. According to the organization, it has financed the distribution of 270 million insecticide-treated nets to combat malaria, provided anti-tuberculosis treatment for 9.3 million people, and provided AIDS treatment for some 3.6 million people. In 2009, the Fund accounted for around 20 percent of international public funding for HIV, 65 percent for tuberculosis, and 65 percent for malaria.

Open Technology Fund
The Open Technology Fund (OTF) is a U.S. Government funded program created in 2012 at Radio Free Asia to support global Internet freedom technologies. Its mission is to "[utilize] available funds to support projects that develop open and accessible technologies to circumvent censorship and surveillance, and thus promote human rights and open societies".
History
The Open Technology Fund was created in 2012. According to American journalist Eli Lake, the idea for the creation of the Open Technology Fund was the result of a policy created by Hillary Clinton when she was the U.S. Secretary of State. Lake has written that Clinton's policy was "heavily influenced by the Internet activism that helped organize the green revolution in Iran in 2009 and other revolutions in the Arab world in 2010 and 2011".
In September 2014, the Open Technology Fund worked with Google and Dropbox to create an organization called Simply Secure to help improve the usability of privacy tools.

America withholds $350 Million Coalition Support Fund Payment to Pakistan Follow us on www.facebook.com/pakistanaffairs2017 www.twitter.com/pakistanaffairz WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will withhold $50 million remaining in military reimbursements to Pakistan for fiscal year 2016 because Defense Secretary Jim Mattis believes that Islamabad has not done enough to blunt the Islamist militant Haqqani network, a U.S. official said on Friday. The decision was not the first time that the Pentagon has declined to make military reimbursements to Pakistan. Last year, it withheld $300 million. Pakistan has been reimbursed $550 million of the $900 million it was authorized to receive in fiscal year 2016. Of the rest, $300 million had already been reprogrammed for other purposes, but had not been previously reported. Mattis' latest decision affects the remaining $50 million. Relations between the two countries have been frayed over the past decade, with U.S. officials frustrated by what they term Pakistan's unwillingness to act against Islamist groups such as the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network. Adam Stump, a Pentagon spokesman, said the $50 million could not be released now because Mattis "could not certify that Pakistan has taken sufficient action against the Haqqani Network per the requirement in the FY 2016 National Defense Authorization Act." -

Der Hamburger Zoll hat gestern seinen Sensationsfund der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert. „Die Gesamtmenge des sichergestellten Kokains beträgt 3,8 Tonnen. Das ist in so kurzer Zeit die größte, jemals in Deutschland sichergestellte Menge an Kokain“, erklärte der Präsident der Generalzolldirektion, Uwe Schröder. Die Rekordmenge hat einen Straßenverkaufswert von rund 800 Millionen Euro. Direkt im Anschluss an die Präsentation wurde das Kokain an einem geheimen Ort verbrannt. Finanzstaatssekretär Werner Gatzer zeigte sich besorgt, denn der massive Fund und die Zunahme an Kokainschmuggel in den vergangenen Jahren zeige, dass das Kokain-Angebot stetig zunimmt. Die Drogen waren bei drei Aktionen im Hamburger Hafen entdeckt und sichergestellt worden. Sie kamen aus Südamerika und sollen für den Drogenmarkt in Belgien bestimmt gewesen sein. Students with an advance thinking process thrive in Problem solving, innovation, and invention which leads to a better future. However, all of this could easily fall apart, and disappear if Art programs are not funded, and supported. The decision to use a pencil came from the idea that just like the mind, a pencil has the capability to act both as a logical, and an artistic tool. This combination is what has made it so successful and timeless. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will withhold $50 million remaining in military reimbursements to Pakistan for fiscal year 2016 because Defense Secretary Jim Mattis believes that Islamabad has not done enough to blunt the Islamist militant Haqqani network, a U.S. official said on Friday.
The decision was not the first time that the Pentagon has declined to make military reimbursements to Pakistan. Last year, it withheld $300 million. Pakistan has been reimbursed $550 million of the $900 million it was authorized to receive in fiscal year 2016.
Of the rest, $300 million had already been reprogrammed for other purposes, but had not been previously reported. Mattis' latest decision affects the remaining $50 million.
Relations between the two countries have been frayed over the past decade, with U.S. officials frustrated by what they term Pakistan's unwillingness to act against Islamist groups such as the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network.
Adam Stump, a Pentagon spokesman, said the $50 million could not be released now because Mattis "could not certify that Pakistan has taken sufficient action against the Haqqani Network per the requirement in the FY 2016 National Defense Authorization Act."

Die Rekordmenge hat einen Straßenverkaufswert von rund 800 Millionen Euro. Direkt im Anschluss an die Präsentation wurde das Kokain an einem geheimen Ort verbrannt.
Finanzstaatssekretär Werner Gatzer zeigte sich besorgt, denn der massive Fund und die Zunahme an Kokainschmuggel in den vergangenen Jahren zeige, dass das Kokain-Angebot stetig zunimmt. Die Drogen waren bei drei Aktionen im Hamburger Hafen entdeckt und sichergestellt worden. Sie kamen aus Südamerika und sollen für den Drogenmarkt in Belgien bestimmt gewesen sein. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States will withhold $50 million remaining in military reimbursements to Pakistan for fiscal year 2016 because Defense Secretary Jim Mattis believes that Islamabad has not done enough to blunt the Islamist militant Haqqani network, a U.S. official said on Friday.
The decision was not the first time that the Pentagon has declined to make military reimbursements to Pakistan. Last year, it withheld $300 million. Pakistan has been reimbursed $550 million of the $900 million it was authorized to receive in fiscal year 2016.
Of the rest, $300 million had already been reprogrammed for other purposes, but had not been previously reported. Mattis' latest decision affects the remaining $50 million.
Relations between the two countries have been frayed over the past decade, with U.S. officials frustrated by what they term Pakistan's unwillingness to act against Islamist groups such as the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network.
Adam Stump, a Pentagon spokesman, said the $50 million could not be released now because Mattis "could not certify that Pakistan has taken sufficient action against the Haqqani Network per the requirement in the FY 2016 National Defense Authorization Act."

Die Rekordmenge hat einen Straßenverkaufswert von rund 800 Millionen Euro. Direkt im Anschluss an die Präsentation wurde das Kokain an einem geheimen Ort verbrannt.
Finanzstaatssekretär Werner Gatzer zeigte sich besorgt, denn der massive Fund und die Zunahme an Kokainschmuggel in den vergangenen Jahren zeige, dass das Kokain-Angebot stetig zunimmt. Die Drogen waren bei drei Aktionen im Hamburger Hafen entdeckt und sichergestellt worden. Sie kamen aus Südamerika und sollen für den Drogenmarkt in Belgien bestimmt gewesen sein. Während der Präsentation schützte eine bewaffnete Spezialeinheit den Drogenfund. Auch der Präsentationsort wurde aus Sicherheitsgründen erst wenige Stunden davor bekannt gegeben.

Exposure to the Arts helps student develop by encouraging them to incorporate both analytic, and creative ways of thinking. Students with an advance thinking process thrive in Problem solving, innovation, and invention which leads to a better future. However, all of this could easily fall apart, and disappear if Art programs are not funded, and supported.
The decision to use a pencil came from the idea that just like the mind, a pencil has the capability to act both as a logical, and an artistic tool. This combination is what has made it so successful and timeless.
