Aprilia is an Italian motorcycle company, one of the marques owned by Piaggio. Having started as a manufacturer of bicycles it moved on to manufacture scooters and small-capacity motorcycles. In more recent times Aprilia has produced large sportbikes such as the 1,000 cc V-twin RSV Mille and the V4 RSV4. Aprilia has enjoyed considerable success in road-racing.
Aprilia was founded after the Second World War by Cavaliere Alberto Beggio, as a bicycle production factory at Noale, Italy in the province of Venice. Alberto’s son, Ivano Beggio, took over the helm of the company in 1968 and constructed a 50 cc "motorcycle" with a dozen or so collaborators. The first production Aprilia mopeds were named Colibrì, Daniela and Packi. Aprilia later produced a motocross bike in 1970 called the Scarabeo. Produced until the end of the 1970s, the Scarabeo came in 50 and 125 cc versions.
In 1977 Ivan Alborghetti from Milan, Italy won the Italian 125 and 250 cc motorcross championships on Aprilias. In 1978 Alborghetti closed the season with two third places in individual races and sixth place in the World Championship. In the 1980s Aprilia added enduro, trials and road bikes of between 50 and 600 cc. In 1981 Aprilia introduced the TL320 trials machine. In 1983 Aprilia launched to St 125 road bike. In 1984 Aprilia launched an improved model called STX, and an enduro, called the ET 50.
The Aprilia RSV4 is a super bike manufactured by Aprilia. The RSV4 is Aprilia’s flagship model. Aprilia offers two models of the bike: the RSV4 Factory and RSV4 R. For 2016 it is offered in two models the RSV4 RR and the limited-edition RSV4 RF. The 2016 updated bike was made to take advantage of and comply with this year’s Superbike rules. Which state that fewer modifications are allowed for production bikes. It has more power, is lighter, with improved handling and electronics being more sophisticated.
Production of the motorcycle began in 2008. The motorcycle was unveiled on 22 February 2008, at the International Piaggio Group Convention in Milan, Italy. It is powered by a 65-degree 999.6 cc (61 cu in) V-4 engine, the company's first production four-cylinder engine. Aprilia claims that the new engine was designed specifically for superbike racing and that the engine will produce over 200 horsepower (150 kW) in race configuration.
Aprilia launched the bike to race in the 2009 Superbike World Championship season.

Considering how fast, how advanced, and how downright amazing today’s literbikes are, how much would you expect to pay for such performance? Twenty grand? Forty? More? Taking into account the cost of today’s fastest hypercars, which can’t hold a candle to today’s literbikes in terms of sheer acceleration, even paying $50,000 can seem like a relative bargain. Luckily for us, we can get our hands on the Aprilia RSV4 RR or Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, two new for 2016 amazing two-wheeled rocketships for $17,000 – and have some change left over. If you ever leave, and I imagine you will,
It'll just be me and the whippoorwill -
Just we two, and the evening star,
If you pack your suitcase and go get in your car
And drive down the road
In the mud or the dust, over to the river,
KC or bust. If you ever go, I'll be here still,
Getting annoyed at the whippoorwill.
Getting annoyed, unable to sleep, the dust too dusty,
Or the mud too deep. I'll follow your dust,
Or I'll follow your tracks over to the hard road,
And I'll bring you back.
If you won't come back, I'll stay on your trail,
Up through heaven, or down through hell.
I'll miss this old place, I'll miss these old hills.
But I sure won't miss that whippoorwill.
You are dearer to me than the birds or the stars,
Sweeter to me than the hills and the flowers.
Long as I have you I can take anything.
