Rogers Centre (originally named SkyDome) is a multi-purpose stadium in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada situated just southwest of the CN Tower near the northern shore of Lake Ontario. Opened in 1989 on the former Railway Lands, it is home to the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB). Previously, the stadium served as home to the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL), played an annual game at the stadium as part of the Bills Toronto Series from 2008 to 2013. While it is primarily a sports venue, it also hosts other large-scale events such as conventions, trade fairs, concerts, travelling carnivals, and monster truck shows.
The stadium was renamed "Rogers Centre" following the purchase of the stadium by Rogers Communications, which also bought the Toronto Blue Jays, in 2005. The venue was noted for being the first stadium to have a fully retractable motorized roof, as well as for the 348-room hotel attached to it, with 70 rooms overlooking the field. It is also the last North American major-league stadium built to accommodate both football and baseball. The stadium served as the site of both the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2015 Pan American Games. During the ceremonies, the site was referred to as the "Pan Am Dome" (officially as the "Pan Am Ceremonies Venue") instead of its normal name.
The Toronto Blue Jays are a Canadian professional baseball team based in Toronto, Ontario. The Blue Jays are a member of the East division of the American League (AL) in Major League Baseball (MLB), and play their home games at Rogers Centre.
The "Blue Jays" name originates from the bird of the same name, and blue is also the traditional colour of two of Toronto's other professional sports teams: the Maple Leafs (ice hockey) and the Argonauts (Canadian football). In addition, the team was originally owned by the Labatt Brewing Company, makers of the popular beer Labatt's Blue. Colloquially nicknamed the "Jays", the team's official colours are royal blue, navy blue, red, and white. An expansion franchise, the club was founded in Toronto in 1977. Originally based at Exhibition Stadium, the team began playing its home games at the SkyDome, upon its opening in 1989. Since 2000, the Blue Jays have been owned by Rogers Communications and in 2004, the SkyDome was purchased by that company, which it renamed Rogers Centre. They are the second MLB franchise to be based outside the United States, and currently the only team based outside the US after the first Canadian franchise, the Montreal Expos, relocated to Washington, D.C. after the 2004 season and became the Washington Nationals.
Created in 1988 by RAN International Architects and Engineers. Lead by Rod Robbie, Michael Allen and Bill Neish.

Gala opening of the Skydome had the misfortune of being held on a rainy night, but it was nothing that Andrew Martin and Alan Thicke couldn't handle. Can anyone imagine *anything* remotely like this happening nowadays?

*Roman Sun Worship Masked As Ball Earth Secular Cosmology* Occult based cosmology is nothing but sun worship rehashed by Pythagarus & then Copernicus. You have this giant sun they worship at the center of their universe, then you have all the sphere planets with the names of pagan Roman false gods going around this MEGA central sun in worship. The bible says our planet is circular, Isaiah 40:22 has a face and has ends and bounds. *There are no ends, bounds or a face on a infinite sphere* Job 28:24 For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven; He saw all the land at once, none hidden from view. *The Earth has a face, faces are on one side, the back of my head is not my face. No face can be on a infinite sphere.* Genesis 11:8 So the Lord scattered them abroad fr...

The opening/closing of the Rogers Centre's retractable roof roof is an ideal motif for time lapse photography. I always wanted to capture it and this long weekend I finally was able to get it done, even though I didn't catch the closing from the beginning. Rogers Centre, formerly known as SkyDome, is a multi-purpose stadium in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, situated next to the CN Tower near the shores of Lake Ontario. Originally opened in 1989, it is home to the American League's Toronto Blue Jays, the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts, the site of the annual International Bowl American college football bowl game, and as of 2008, the National Football League's Buffalo Bills' second playing venue in the Bills Toronto Series. While it is primarily a sports venue, it also hosts other ...
A dynamic aurora borealis skydome for the Unreal Engine. The animated aurora was generated and rendered in Houdini using a custom VOP shader network and faked motion blur. The dome oscilates every frame about 1000 units, so that in each subframe the dome has moved, but on the integer frame it is at rest. This "Tricks" Houdini into rendering streaked motion blur. The render is composited in Nuke and After effects to be spherically transformed, then applied to a static mesh inside of UDK where a custom sky material was created. Rotating stars and clouds lend to the effect of an Aurora above the player. The example map has been modified to be a night scene, and the water shader was modified to look more like a reflection of the skydome. This was accomplished by duplicating the skydome and...

I took a very rudimentary set of photos while the dome was opening up one sunny afternoon at the Skydome. The 20th anniversary reminded me that oh, hey, my windows movie maker works again after reformatting - therefore I can put it together! http://www.expedia.com.my/Toronto.d178314.Travel Toronto is Canada's largest and North America's fourth-largest city. Its multi-cultural population is spread out over the Megacity, but neighborhoods such as China Town, Greektown and Little Italy retain some of their original character. A typical "Hogtown" treat is the Peameal sandwich, available at the Saint Lawrence Market in the Old Town. The city's landmark CN Tower stands in stark contrast to the another local icon: The castle-like Casa Loma. Some other famous architectural feats are the Royal Ontario Museum and the Gehry-designed Art Gallery of Ontario. Kensington Markets is an art-loving, 70s-inspired neighborhood full of shops. Upscale fashion stores surround Dundas Square, the downtown end of Yonge Street. During colder months...
