Parks Canada (French: Parcs Canada), also known as the Parks Canada Agency (French: Agence Parcs Canada), is an agency of the Government of Canada run by the Minister of the Environment, who mandates it to protect and present nationally significant natural and cultural heritage, and foster public understanding, appreciation, and enjoyment in ways that ensure their ecological and commemorative integrity for present and future generations. Parks Canada manages 46 National Parks, four National Marine Conservation Areas, 168 National Historic Sites, and one National Landmark. The agency also administers lands and waters set aside as potential national parklands, including eight National Park Reserves and one National Marine Conservation Area Reserve. The Canadian Register of Historic Places is supported and managed by Parks Canada, in collaboration with provincial and territorial governments and other federal bodies.
Parks Canada was established on May 19, 1911, as the Dominion Parks Branch under the Department of the Interior, becoming the world's first national park service. Since its creation, its name has changed, known variously as the Dominion Parks Branch, National Parks Branch, Parks Canada, and the Canadian Parks Service, before a return to Parks Canada in 1998. The service's activities are regulated under the provisions of the Canada National Parks Act, which was enacted in 1930, and amended in 2000.
A national park is a park in use for conservation purposes. Often it is a reserve of natural, semi-natural, or developed land that a sovereign state declares or owns. Although individual nations designate their own national parks differently, there is a common idea: the conservation of 'wild nature' for posterity and as a symbol of national pride. An international organization, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and its World Commission on Protected Areas, has defined "National Park" as its Category II type of protected areas.
While this type of national park had been proposed previously, the United States established the first "public park or pleasuring-ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people", Yellowstone National Park, in 1872. Although Yellowstone was not officially termed a "national park" in its establishing law, it was always termed such in practice and is widely held to be the first and oldest national park in the world. The first area to use "national park" in its creation legislation was the US's Mackinac Island, in 1875. Australia's Royal National Park, established in 1879, was the world's third official national park. In 1895 ownership of Mackinac Island was transferred to the State of Michigan as a state park and national park status was consequently lost. As a result, Australia's Royal National Park is by some considerations the second oldest national park now in existence.

Canada (i/ˈkænədə/; French: [ka.na.da]) is a country in the northern part of North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles), making it the world's second-largest country by total area and the fourth-largest country by land area. Canada's border with the United States is the world's longest land border. Canada is sparsely populated, the majority of its land territory being dominated by forest and tundra and the Rocky Mountains; about four-fifths of the country's population of 35 million people live near the southern border. The majority of Canada has a cold or severely cold winter climate, but southerly areas are warm in summer.
The land now called Canada has been inhabited for millennia by various Aboriginal peoples. Beginning in the 15th century, British and French colonies were established on the Atlantic coast, with the first establishment of a region called "Canada" occurring in 1537. As a consequence of various conflicts, the United Kingdom gained and lost territories within British North America until left, in the late 18th century, with what mostly geographically comprises Canada today. Pursuant to the British North America Act, on July 1, 1867, the colonies of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia joined to form the autonomous federal Dominion of Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the self-governing Dominion to the present ten provinces and three territories forming modern Canada. In 1931, Canada achieved near total independence from the United Kingdom with the Statute of Westminster 1931, and full sovereignty was attained when the Canada Act 1982 removed the last remaining ties of legal dependence on the British parliament.

The Royal Canadian Mint (French: Monnaie royale canadienne) is a Canadian Crown corporation, and operates under the legislative basis of the Royal Canadian Mint Act.
The shares of the Mint are held in trust for Her Majesty in right of Canada.
The Mint produces all of Canada's circulation coins, and manufactures circulation coins on behalf of other nations. The Mint also designs and manufactures: precious and base metal collector coins; gold, silver, palladium, and platinum bullion coins; medals, as well as medallions and tokens. It further offers gold and silver refinery and assay services.
It also serves the public’s interest while mandated to operate “in anticipation of profit”, meaning that it functions in a commercial manner and does not rely on taxpayer support to fund its operations. Like private sector companies, the Mint has a Board of Directors consisting of a Chair, the President and CEO of the Mint and eight other Directors.

After visiting Jasper National Park, I headed south on Icefields Parkway to visit Moraine Lake, Lake Louise and the town of Banff all located in Banff National Park, Alberta. I also hiked Johnston Canyon and rode the Banff Gondola. The best part of this 4-day adventure was the hike around Lake Louise. I hiked to the top of the surrounding mountains in order to get a shot of the Lake, which most people never get to see due to the moderate hike to the top. Definitely worth the hike!
Experience the awe and wonder of Kluane National Park and Reserve through artist Cory Trépanier's month-long Kluane expedition. This inspiring short film, a taste of Cory's full-length documentary to come, sees him ski in the icefields and paint Mount Logan, Canada's highest peak. He then hikes the challenging Donjek Route, canoes pristine Mush and Bates lakes, and rafts the Alsek River to the iceberg-strewn Lowell Lake, all the while setting up his easel to create a rare collection of oil paintings. This is a short film I made during a 3 week trip to Canada in June of this year. I was part of a guided tour with 13 other people, and it was fantastic! We travelled around Alberta and British Columbia, finding all the beautiful lakes and scenic shots to be found in Canada, and there is a lot! Its actually a photographers paradise! I have been to Canada twice now and I cannot wait to go back soon, maybe even migrate one day so I could have all this natural beauty at my front door. I visited a lot of the same places on my recent trip but this time I time-lapsed everything. There is only so much impact a still image can make, and I used to get frustrated when I go on these adventure hikes in Canada and America etc and hike these big arse mountains and when I reach the top I sometimes feel...

The Columbia Icefield contains around thirty glaciers and is the largest ice mass in the Rockies.
