Lois Maxwell (14 February 1927 – 29 September 2007) was a Canadian actress, best known for her portrayal of Miss Moneypenny in the first fourteen James Bond films, (1962-85). She was the first actress to play the part. The films in which she played Miss Moneypenny were Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967), On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), Diamonds Are Forever (1971), Live and Let Die (1973), The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983), and A View to a Kill (1985).
She began her film career in the late 1940s and won the actress Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer for her performance in That Hagen Girl (1947). Following a number of small film roles, Maxwell became dissatisfied and travelled to Italy, where she worked in film from 1951 to 1955. After her marriage, she moved to the United Kingdom, where she appeared in several television productions.

lois maxwell guest stars in the episode 'interlude in venice' in 1966. because her work as miss moneypenny in the bond films is so well known, this scene demonstrates the difference between the melodramatic expressiveness of moore's first show and the tighter, colder 007 storytelling, where it's all about The Hero, and others in the story -- both women and men -- are in his shadow (cuz they're childishly stupid).
In the last few minutes of this 1950s' Italian film version of "Aida", Aida and Radames are off-camera. The film ends on a stunning final shot of Amneris -- Lois Maxwell (and the voice of Ebe Stignani).

Miss Moneypenny (Lois Maxwell) & Mr. Bond ミス・マネーペニー (ロイス・マクスウェル) と ジェームス・ボンド
A famous opera film. While this is in some respects the height of 1950s' cinema kitsch, it is nonetheless a fascinating take on Aida. With the voices of Tebaldi, Stignani, Bechi and Campora. Aida is played by Sophia Loren. Amneris, upstaging her (as so often happens in actual Aida performances), is the great Canadian actress, Lois Maxwell, who some 10 years later created the role of Miss MoneyPenny in the James Bond series. In the opening credits, Maxwell managed to get her name on a single card, while the others, including Sophia Loren, are grouped in a list.
