Luke Evans (actor)

Luke Evans (born 15 April 1979) is a Welsh actor and singer. Evans began his career on the stage, performing in many of London's West End productions such as Rent, Miss Saigon, and Piaf before getting his breakthrough role in Hollywood starring in the Clash of the Titans 2010 remake, playing Apollo. Following his debut, Evans was cast in such action and thriller films as Immortals (2011), The Raven (2012), and the re-imagined The Three Musketeers (2011), in which he played Aramis.

In 2013, Evans starred as the main antagonist Owen Shaw in the blockbuster Fast & Furious 6, and also played Bard the Bowman in Peter Jackson's three-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. Evans also portrayed the vampire Dracula in the character's film origin story, Dracula Untold.

Early life

Luke Evans was born in Pontypool, and raised in Aberbargoed, a small town in the Rhymney Valley, Wales, the only child of Yvonne and David Evans. He was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, though he left the religion when he was 16 and left school at the same time.

In the pilot episode, Ananda(26), a rebellious artist who is incapable of commitment and always getting herself into trouble, reluctantly returns to this tiny town to introduce her six-year old daughter, Izzy, to her father and get her birth certificate signed so that she can stay in school. When she gets there, Ananda is forced to reconcile who she really is as well, and in doing so finds that truly knowing yourself is more profound than you might think. If you have ever lived in a small town and left for bigger and better dreams, if you have ever been touched by Eastern Philosophy and it's changed your life, or have ever known anyone else who has ever been touched by it and it's annoyed the crap out of you, if you have a family that drives you mad with love and stupidity and if you have ever said, "I will never turn out like my parents!", then then be prepared to have your mind blown, your heart expanded, and your cheeks hurt from laughing in Returning to Ananda. Sometimes your parents weren't so off after all.
