Katherine Anne 'Kate' GreenOBE (born 2 May 1960) is a British Labour Party politician, who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Stretford and Urmston since 2010.

Green was born in Edinburgh to Maurice and Jessie Craig Green. She attended Currie High School then graduated from Edinburgh University with a Bachelor of Laws degree.

After University Green began a career at Barclays Bank, working for the organisation from 1982 to 1997. From 1997 to 1999 she worked as a Whitehall and Industry Group secondee to the Home Office. Green was employed as Director of the National Council for One Parent Families between 2000 and 2004, then working as Chief Executive of the Child Poverty Action Group until 2009. Alongside this, Green also served as a member of the London Child Poverty Commission, eventually serving as the commissioner chairing the body. Green also served as a magistrate in the City of London between 1993 and 2009.

Green joined the Labour Party in 1990 and was previously the Labour Party candidate in the 1997 General Election for the Greater London constituency of Cities of London and Westminster. Failing to be elected in 1997, she then contested the 2000 London Assembly election in the West Central constituency though again was not elected. In 2009 Green was selected as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Stretford and Urmston through an all-women shortlist following Beverley Hughes's announcement that she would not be seeking re-election. She was elected as Member of Parliament on 6 May 2010 securing 48.6% of the vote, increasing the majority Beverley Hughes obtained in the 2005 general election.

Kate Wolf (born Kathryn Louise Allen, January 27, 1942 – December 10, 1986) was an American folk singer and songwriter. Though her career was relatively short, she had a significant impact on the folk music scene, and many musicians continue to cover her songs. Her best-known compositions include "Here in California," "Love Still Remains," "Across the Great Divide," "Unfinished Life," and "Give Yourself to Love."

Born in San Francisco, California, she started her music career in the band Wildwood Flower before recording ten records as a solo artist. Her songs have since been recorded by artists such as Nanci Griffith and Emmylou Harris (whose recording of "Love Still Remains" was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1999). An important mentor, friend and touring companion was Utah Phillips.

She died in 1986, at age 44, after a long battle with leukemia. She is buried at a small church cemetery in Goodyears Bar, California.

NOTE: Wolf (along with fellow musician Don Coffin to whom she was married at the time) also appears on the 1973 album We Walked by the Water by folksinger Lionel Kilberg. This album was re-released in 1995 under the title Breezes and credited to Wolf alone on the front cover. Her family were not thrilled about this and have explicitly gone on record as stating that Wolf did not consider this album representative of her work.
