St. Mary Magdalene is one of the greatest saints of the Bible and a legendary example of God's mercy and grace. The precise dates of her birth and death are unknown, but we do know she was present with Christ during his public ministry, death and resurrection. She is mentioned at least a dozen times in the Gospels.
Mary Magdalene has long been regarded as a prostitute or sexually immoral in western Christianity, but this is not supported in the scriptures. It is believed she was a Jewish woman who lived among Gentiles, living as they did.
The Gospels agree that Mary was originally a great sinner. Jesus cast seven demons out of her when he met her. After this, she told several women she associated with and these women also became followers.
There is also debate over if Mary Magdalene is the same unnamed women, a sinner, who weeps and washes Jesus' feet with her hair in the Gospel of John. Scholars are skeptical this is the same person.
Despite the scholarly dispute over her background, what she did in her subsequent life, after meeting Jesus, is much more significant. She was certainly a sinner whom Jesus saved, giving us an example of how no person is beyond the saving grace of God.
During Jesus' ministry, it is believed that Mary Magdalene followed him, part of a semi-permanent entourage who served Jesus and his Disciples.
Mary likely watched the crucifixion from a distance along with the other women who followed Christ during His ministry. Mary was present when Christ rose from the dead, visiting his tomb to anoint his body only to find the stone rolled away and Christ, very much alive, sitting at the place they laid Him. She was the first witness to His resurrection.
After the death of Christ, a legend states that she remained among the early Christians. After fourteen years, she was allegedly put into a boat by Jews, along with several other saints of the early Church, and set adrift without sails or oars. The boat landed in southern France, where she spent the remaining years of her life living in solitude, in a cave.
St. Mary Magdalene's feast day is July 22. She is the patroness of converts, repentant sinners, sexual temptation, pharmacists, tanners and women, and many other places and causes.

Mary (Maryam) (as), has her own entire verse in the Holy Quran, this movie takes parts of this story from the Holy Quran (as), and depicts the live of Maryam (as), leading to the birth of Isa (Jesus) (as).

According to the New Testament, Mary (Miriam: Hebrew: מרים; c. 18 BC – c. 43 AD), also known as Saint Mary, the Virgin Mary, or the Blessed Virgin Mary—amongst other titles, styles and honorifics—was a Galilean Jewish woman of Nazareth and the mother of Jesus.
The gospels of Matthew and Luke in the New Testament describe Mary as a virgin (Greek: παρθένος, parthénos) and Christians believe that she conceived her son while a virgin by the Holy Spirit. This took place when she was already betrothed to Joseph and was awaiting the concluding rite of marriage, the formal home-taking ceremony. She married Joseph and accompanied him to Bethlehem, where Jesus was born. According to ancient Jewish custom, Mary could have been betrothed at about 12, however, there is no direct evidence of Mary's age at betrothal or in pregnancy. The term "betrothal" is an awkward translation of kiddushin; according to the Jewish law those called "betrothed" were actually husband and wife.
The Gospel of Luke begins its account of Mary's life with the Annunciation, when the angel Gabriel appeared to her and announced her divine selection to be the mother of Jesus. According to gospel accounts, Mary was present at the Crucifixion of Jesus and is depicted as a member of the early Christian community in Jerusalem. According to Apocryphal writings, at some time soon after her death, her incorrupt body was assumed directly into Heaven, to be reunited with her soul, and the apostles thereupon found the tomb empty; this is known in Christian teaching as the Assumption.

Mary Magdalene
Mary Magdalene (Hebrew: מרים המגדלית, original Greek: Μαρία ἡ Μαγδαληνή), or Mary of Magdala and sometimes The Magdalene, is a figure in Christianity. Mary Magdalene travelled with Jesus as one of his followers. She is said to have witnessed Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. Within the four Gospels she is named at least 12 times, more than most of the apostles. During the Middle Ages she developed a reputation in Western Christianity as being a repentant prostitute or loose woman. This is not supported by the canonical gospels.
The Gospel of Luke says seven demons had gone out of her, and the longer ending of Mark says Jesus had cast seven demons out of her. She is most prominent in the narrative of the crucifixion of Jesus, at which she was present. She was also present two days later, immediately following the sabbath, when, according to all four canonical Gospels, she was either alone or as a member of a group of women the first to testify to the resurrection of Jesus.John 20 and Mark 16:9 specifically name her as the first person to see Jesus after his resurrection.

Mary (Maryam) (as), has her own entire verse in the Holy Quran, this movie takes parts of this story from the Holy Quran (as), and depicts the live of Maryam (as), leading to the birth of Isa (Jesus) (as).
The verse is:
Sura Maryam (Arabic: سورة مريم, Sūratu Maryam, "Mary") is the 19th sura (chapter) of the Qur'an and is a Makkan sura with 98 ayat (English: verses). It is named after Maryām, the actual (Semitic) name for Mary, Mother of Jesus (Isa)

All we have to do to gain heaven is to keep the commandments of God and His Church and to bear our little crosses.
St. Mary of Egypt's life is a model of sin, repentance, and redemption. She spent much of her life as a prostitute eager for the acquisition of many lovers, went to the holy city of Jerusalem where she repented, and spent the rest of her life seeking always to follow the will of God. In the same way, we also have acquired many lovers besides the Lord such as money, power, fame, time, and security. Lent gives us an opportunity to follow Mary to Jerusalem to witness and repent at the life saving passion and resurrection of our Lord. Having repented and been reconciled, we can also follow Mary’s example and dedicate ourselves to serve the Lord Jesus Christ for the rest of our lives in the practice of the true Catholic faith.
St. Mary of Egypt’s story also reminds us that throughout our own struggles with temptation and sin, we are blessed with the prayers and intercessions of the holy saints and angels who strive with us in our battles against evil. Foremost of these intercessors is the Most Blessed Virgin Mary who helped lead St. Mary of Egypt to redemption and will help us who turn to her as well provided we are repentant or at least striving to overcome our sinful inclinations and opened to the Truth and to the will of God in our lives.

Lent gives us an opportunity to follow Mary to Jerusalem to witness and repent at the life saving passion and resurrection of our Lord. Having repented and been reconciled, we can also follow Mary’s example and dedicate ourselves to serve the Lord Jesus Christ for the rest of our lives in the practice of the true Catholic faith.
St. Mary of Egypt’s story also reminds us that throughout our own struggles with temptation and sin, we are blessed with the prayers and intercessions of the holy saints and angels who strive with us in our battles against evil. Foremost of these intercessors is the Most Blessed Virgin Mary who helped lead St. Mary of Egypt to redemption and will help us who turn to her as well provided we are repentant or at least striving to overcome our sinful inclinations and opened to the Truth and to the will of God in our lives.
