Cropping refers to the removal of the outer parts of an image to improve framing, accentuate subject matter or change aspect ratio. Depending on the application, this may be performed on a physical photograph, artwork or film footage, or achieved digitally using image editing software. The term is common to the film, broadcasting, photographic, graphic design and printing industries.
In the printing, graphic design and photography industries, cropping refers to removing unwanted areas from a photographic or illustrated image. One of the most basic photo manipulation processes, it is performed in order to remove an unwanted subject or irrelevant detail from a photo, change its aspect ratio, or to improve the overall composition. In telephoto photography, most commonly in bird photography, an image is cropped to magnify the primary subject and further reduce the angle of view when a lens of sufficient focal length to achieve the desired magnification directly is not available. It is considered one of the few editing actions permissible in modern photojournalism along with tonal balance, colour correction and sharpening. A crop made from the top and bottom of a photograph may produce an aspect which mimics the panoramic format (in photography) and the widescreen format in cinematography and broadcasting. Both of these formats are not cropped as such, rather the product of highly specialised optical configuration and camera design.

An image (from Latin: imago) is an artifact, for example a two-dimensional picture, that has a similar appearance to some subject–usually a physical object or a person.
Images may be two-dimensional, such as a photograph, screen display, and as well as a three-dimensional, such as a statue or hologram. They may be captured by optical devices–such as cameras, mirrors, lenses, telescopes, microscopes, etc. and natural objects and phenomena, such as the human eye or water surfaces.
The word image is also used in the broader sense of any two-dimensional figure such as a map, a graph, a pie chart, or an abstract painting. In this wider sense, images can also be rendered manually, such as by drawing, painting, carving, rendered automatically by printing or computer graphics technology, or developed by a combination of methods, especially in a pseudo-photograph.
A volatile image is one that exists only for a short period of time. This may be a reflection of an object by a mirror, a projection of a camera obscura, or a scene displayed on a cathode ray tube. A fixed image, also called a hard copy, is one that has been recorded on a material object, such as paper or textile by photography or digital processes.

Everyone wants to believe their own eyes, but what you don't see can often make all the difference. Photoshopping an image might be the most common way to change a picture's narrative, but simple cropping is a low-tech alternative that can be just as effective.

If you have an image in EverWeb, but you want to crop, or mask part of the image, you can do so using EverWeb’s built in masking tool...

If you have an image in EverWeb, but you want to crop, or mask part of the image, you can do so using EverWeb’s built in masking tool.
All you need to do is select the image, and then click on the Mask button located in the toolbar. A small rectangle will appear, and you will be able to adjust the size of it by selecting it in one of the corners and dragging it, making the masked section larger or smaller.
You can also move the rectangle around to different areas of the image.
Once you are satisfied with your mask, you can hit the enter or return key on your keyboard.
You will notice that the image has now been cropped, or masked. You will also notice that the original Mask button now reads Unmask. This is because once a mask has been applied to an image, the only option will be to unmask it.
If you change your mind, or want to edit the masking job, you can select the image and then click on the Unmask button.
So, just to reiterate that, if you want to change the masking of an image that has already been masked, you will first need to click on the Unmask button, and then click again on the button which will now read Mask in order to apply a new mask.
The masking option is also available from the Format menu.

Hello there! by the end of this tutorial you'll be able to edit and crop your green card electronic diversity visa photo.
Before you go to the photographer to take your photo, or before taking your photo by yourself, please read these tips:
- Avoid too much light/less light in photograph
- Avoid shadows, use PhotoShop to make white/light background
- If your glasses will reflect lights, take them off
- stay focused, and looking straight to the camera
- make sure you appear in the center, and don't laugh or smile too much
- make sure photograph is in good quality, with original colors
- take a wide bigger photo to edit later
- if you are committed to wear specific clothing like Hijab or religious and traditional cloths, you don't need to take them off, just make sure face features appear.
As if you are done with the photo, you should use the photo cropper tool and follow this tutorial to edit and crop your photo to match the required sets. Here's the photo cropper tool:
