Thomas Jefferson (April 13 [O.S. April 2] 1743 – July 4, 1826) was an American Founding Father who was principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776). He was elected the second Vice President of the United States (1797–1801) and the third President (1801–09). Jefferson was a proponent of democracy, republicanism, and individual rights, which motivated American colonists to break from Great Britain and form a new nation. He produced formative documents and decisions at both the state and national level.
Primarily of English ancestry, he was born and educated in Virginia. He graduated from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg and practiced law. During the American Revolution, he represented Virginia in the Continental Congress that adopted the Declaration, drafted the law for religious freedom as a Virginia legislator, and served as a wartime governor (1779–1781). He became the United States Minister to France in May 1785, and subsequently the nation's first Secretary of State in 1790–1793 under President George Washington. Jefferson and James Madison organized the Democratic-Republican Party to oppose the Federalist Party during the formation of the First Party System. In 1796, he was elected vice president. With Madison, he anonymously wrote the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions in 1798–1799, which sought to embolden states' rights in opposition to the national government by nullifying the Alien and Sedition Acts.

Plot: Secret Mysteries Vol. III focuses on the development of the new world as "The United States of America". This video will demonstrate that the history of America's government, and of its official symbols, is a history of secret societies. Examine America's much-talked-about dollar bill and the symbols it bears. Modern masonry claims that the all-seeing eye floating above the pyramid is not a Masonic symbol. But what did Freemason's President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and his Masonic Vice President, Henry Wallace, believe when they attached this symbol to our currency in 1935? How were these American leaders influenced by the Russian mystic, Nicholas Roerich? Does the all-seeing eye represent the Masonic Christ? Was the eagle originally a phoenix bird? And what do all these occult symbols mean? Follow the journey of the Secret Mysteries series as we unveil their influence through the 20th century. Many believe that the real purpose of the many "Wars and Rumors of Wars" has been to establish a commonwealth of nations to rule the whole world. With the North American Union on the rise, is America the victim of deception? Or is she THE instrument of Global Government?

Plot: This documentary explores the highly controversial subject of the design of America's capital. Was the city built to reflect the majesty of America's newfound freedom? Or the hidden agenda of secret societies? With every major cornerstone laid by Freemasons, was the city built in a Masonic pattern? Embark upon this incredible journey as Riddles in Stone interviews experts on both sides of the heated debate. Watch as Freemason apologists defend some of the most direct and hard-hitting questions concerning the influence of Masonry in America, and its symbolism in Washington, D.C. Alongside them are leading researchers who maintain that occult architecture permeates the city, and conceals a secret agenda. Was D.C. laid out according to the pattern of the stars? Is there really a pentagram in the street layout north of the White House? Does a Masonic square and compass extend from the Capitol building to the Washington monument? And why is the city filled with zodiac symbols, mysterious faces, and various god and goddess images? If America was founded as a Christian nation only, where are the images of Jesus Christ? Or does Washington D.C. symbolize another Christ, the Masonic Christ?

Hear the stories of this remarkable expedition through the voices of Lewis and Clark and the American Indians they encountered. Plot: Church vs State brings students to a time in America when church and state were often allied. Though many came to America for religious freedom, in some places there was little tolerance for anything but the dominant belief. While those beliefs might vary from colony to colony, the effect was often a state of religion. That began to change with the dissenter's movement in the 1740's. The dissenters challenged the established Church of England and ultimately transformed American ideas about religious toleration. Students will meet Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson and learn the roles each played in the debate over religious freedom, a debate that ultimately resulted in the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights.

Plot: The revivals of the Great Awakening shook Britain's North American colonies from spiritual slumber during the 1730s-1750s. In Virginia it touched men and women whose spiritual needs had been too long neglected by the legally established Anglican Church. In homes, meeting houses, and in open fields, rich and poor, black and white, men and women mingled to hear emotional messages of a personal God and salvation. The Great Awakening rattled and cracked the foundations of hierarchal authority and official religion from Georgia to New England, reverberating through the decades to the Revolution and the collapse of British rule.

Plot: This Passing Parade entry tells of a little-known story in American history. Eli Whitney, famous for inventing the cotton gin, was given a US government contract to produce a large number of rifles over a two-year period. In order to fulfill the contract, he developed the concept of mass production. Instead of one person crafting a whole rifle, several persons make individual parts that are assembled later.

Brian Kilmeade and his co-author Don Yaeger return with another fascinating historical narrative. Like their bestseller "George Washington's Secret Six", "Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates" sheds light on a vitally important episode forgotten by most Americans. Only weeks after President Jefferson's 1801 inauguration, he decided to confront the Tripoli pirates who had been kidnapping American ships and sailors, among other outrageous acts. Though inclined toward diplomacy, Jefferson sent warships to blockade Tripoli and protect American shipping, and then escalated to all-out war against the Barbary states.

http://www.tomrichey.net Thomas Jefferson is well known as the author of the Declaration of Independence, the Third President of the United States, and an ardent defender of the Constitution, but his real passion was for agriculture. In his Notes on the State of Virginia, Jefferson wrote, "Those who labour in the earth are the chosen people of God, if ever he had a chosen people." Jefferson believed that agriculture was a necessary support for republican government and that the introduction of manufacturing into the United States would corrupt public morals and endanger free government. This conflict over whether the United States should pursue an economy based on agriculture or manufacturing was one of the key differences between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. If this was h...
Narrated by Jason P. Sheehan, MD, PhD, FAANS Thomas Jefferson was a man of contradictions, who professed a disdain for politics while achieving great success as a tough infighter, an intellectual who promoted liberty in America and Europe but did not free his many slaves, a humble man who sought personal glory. It is this humanity that continues to fascinate us about Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence.

From a commenter about why Washington is short w/ Adams at the end: "The reason Washington gives Adams a severe tone when he says "Mr. President, nothing more." Is because earlier Adams was fighting to change the name of the President to, something more formal. For Example, "Your Majesty the President." Adams may of been influenced by some of the European Cultures, such as the French. Of course, it ends up being denied, and thats where Washington's response comes in." Also, the VP had even less power than the VP does today. The Secretary of State and obviously here, the Secretary of Treasury were much more important. Adams was frustrated at his role. Growing up in the Lake District of North West England, an abundant terrain of mountains, woodlands, and lakes, Dr. Peter Lloyd Jones developed a deep sense of connection to nature at an early age. His curiosity was encouraged by his parents, who allowed him to venture into the forests to paint the trees, flowers, and natural life that engrossed his imagination. These early experiences kindled a creative fervor within the young scientist which continues to resonate through his work today. As the Director of MEDstudio at Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Jones' latest endeavors aim to increase levels of empathy, creativity, and connectivity within healthcare approaches. The program forges deep collaborative relationships across the realms of science, design, medicine, and art in an effort to...
