Ansamblis laikomas vienu geriausių brandžiojo baroko pavyzdžių Šiaurės ir Rytų Europoje. Tai vienas iš dviejų Lietuvoje išlikusių vienuolynų ir bažnyčių ansamblių. Pažaislio bažnyčios ir vienuolyno ansamblis pastatytas XVII–XVIII a. funduojant Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės Didžiajam kancleriui Kristupui Zigmantui Pacui. 1660 m. jis kreipėsi į Kamaldulių ordino vyresnybę Romoje, raštu pasižadėdamas finansuoti vienuolyno ir bažnyčios statybą Lietuvoje. Netrukus, gavęs aukščiausiosios bažnytinės vadovybės palaiminimą, kartu su architektu ir keliais Krokuvos Bielianų kamaldulių vienuoliais netoli Kauno surado planuojamam statyti vienuolynui tinkamą vietą – Pažaislį. Šią gražią miškingą vietovę fundatorius nupirko iš Kauno žemės teisėjo Samuelio Oborskio ir pavadino Ramybės Taikos kalnu - Mons Pacis.
Pokario metais vienuolyne veikė Lietuvos centrinis archyvas, vėliau – senelių namai, nuo 1950 m. respublikinė psichoneurologinė ligoninė. 1964 m. bandyta įkurti Kauno turistinę bazę. 1967–1992 m. vienuolyne veikė Valstybinio M. K. Čiurlionio dailės muziejaus filialas. 1992 m. pastatai grąžinti Šv. Kazimiero kongregacijos seserims. Nuo 1996 m. kasmet rengiami Pažaislio muzikos festivaliai. 2000 m. liepos 15 d. sugrąžintas „Kamaldulių Dievo motinos“ paveikslas dar vadintas „Gražiosios meilės motina su kūdikiu“, XVII a., o rugsėjo 12 d. Pažaislis monastery and church (Lithuanian: Pažaislio vienuolynas ir bažnyčia, Polish: Klasztor w Pożajściu) form the largest monastery complex in Lithuania, and the most magnificent example of Italian Baroque architecture in the country. It is situated in the Petrašiūnai elderate of Kaunas, Lithuania, on a peninsula in the Kaunas Reservoir near the Kaunas Yacht Club.
History
Founded in 1662 by Polish nobleman and Great Chancellor of Lithuania, Krzysztof Zygmunt Pac, for the Order of the Camaldolese Hermits, the main construction continued until 1674 and resumed in 1712. The monastery was designed by Pietro Puttini, Carlo and Pietro Puttini, and Giovanni Battista Frediani. Exclusive architectural solutions were used for the first time in Europe: a hexagonal church plan, and a concave facade. The interior stucco work is ascribed to Joan Merli and the frescos to Michelangelo Palloni. In 1755 the addition of the towers and the dome was funded by the king's chamberlain Michał Jan Pac.

Kaunas 4K - From Dawn to Dusk
Kaunas city of Lithuania. Beautiful angles of the Downtown at dawn and sunrise, as well as view of the city area Silainiai and Monument of IX fort. City lies at the confluence of country's two greatest rivers Nemunas and Neris. Starting video with night, going throughout the entire day, reflecting the climate in Summer, ending up with city lighting up after sunset and moonlight at the night sky.

Kaunas is home to a variety of festivals and events, including the famous Kaunas Jazz festival, Hanza days, Operetta, Pažaislis Classical Music festival, Bike show, Kaunas city days, Songs festival ( listed by UNESCO), International Modern Dance Festival and much more. The Old Town has a collection of ancient architectural monuments, the remnants of the 14th century with remains of Kaunas castle, the buildings of the Middle Ages in the Gothic and Art Déco styles. The Kaunas Fortress has a valuable military heritage composed of a number of buldings and walls that used to be a military complex. There are nine Forts around the city and the IXth Fort serves as a museum. The macabre collection of nearly 3,000 devils at the Devils’ Museum and the exhibitions showing the unique artistic styles of composer and painter M. K. Ciurlionis, as well as J. Maciunas initiator of the avant-garde Fluxus art movement. The Funicular in the city is a unique means of transportation, is still in use today, including the genuine pre-war wagon, wooden seats, and stop platforms. Even today the funicular takes people up to the hill, from which the panorama of the Kaunas city centre and Old town is wide open. Kaunas is the only city among Baltic States, where such means of transportation is available. Kaunas is located at the confluence of the two largest Lithuanian rivers, the Nemunas and the Neris, and near the Kaunas Reservoir, the largest body of water entirely in Lithuania. Since the restoration of independence, improving substantially air and land transport links with Western Europe have made Kaunas easily accessible to foreign tourists.

Pažaislio bažnyčios ir vienuolyno ansamblis pastatytas XVII–XVIII a. funduojant Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės Didžiajam kancleriui Kristupui Zigmantui Pacui. 1660 m. jis kreipėsi į Kamaldulių ordino vyresnybę Romoje, raštu pasižadėdamas finansuoti vienuolyno ir bažnyčios statybą Lietuvoje. K. Čiurlionio dailės muziejaus filialas. 1992 m. pastatai grąžinti Šv. Kazimiero kongregacijos seserims. Nuo 1996 m. kasmet rengiami Pažaislio muzikos festivaliai. 2000 m. liepos 15 d. sugrąžintas „Kamaldulių Dievo motinos“ paveikslas dar vadintas „Gražiosios meilės motina su kūdikiu“, XVII a., o rugsėjo 12 d. Pažaislio kamaldulių vienuolyno ansamblis paskelbtas kultūros paminklu.
Founded in 1662 by Polish nobleman and Great Chancellor of Lithuania, Krzysztof Zygmunt Pac, for the Order of the Camaldolese Hermits, the main construction continued until 1674 and resumed in 1712. The monastery was designed by Pietro Puttini, Carlo and Pietro Puttini, and Giovanni Battista Frediani. Exclusive architectural solutions were used for the first time in Europe: a hexagonal church plan, and a concave facade. The interior stucco work is ascribed to Joan Merli and the frescos to Michelangelo Palloni. In 1755 the addition of the towers and the dome was funded by the king's chamberlain Michał Jan Pac. After World War II, the Soviet authorities converted the church and monastery into an archive, a psychiatric hospital and finally an art gallery in 1966. In 1990s the complex was returned by the newly independent Lithuania to the nuns of the convent and reconstruction work began.
