READ THIS:
- Grit: The lower the grit, the rougher the file. 100 grit is good for shaping acrylics, but 240 grit is good for shaping the natural nail. 180 is the lowest you'd want to go for the natural nail. The 180 grit file from EzFlow is called Grey Fox.
- The Rough Remover by Mambo is usually used to buff the nail before gel polish, or to smooth off acrylic. However I've found it really useful to smooth off my nails and push together the layers of keratin to prevent delamination. Natural nail buffers (with the four sides) don't handle the edges of nails very well, so I find these other buffers a happy medium.

- Sorry about the crappy video quality. I'm hoping that in two-three months there will be a dramatic improvement!
- My almond here isn't that pointy, but it would have messed up my oval nails if I had made them more so.
- Sawing/going both ways. I'm kind of anticipating a bit of backlash about me showing this as an option... hopefully I'm wrong! Since this is my own video I'm quite happy to say/show that I DO "saw" my nails and my nails are REALLY healthy. And long. And strong. I've done 20 hours of gardening and wood-moving this week and they're still perfecto.
- Yes, I'm qualified, and was told in my training that going back and forth is okay - if the file is the right grit! I know that training does vary and that there are different rules for different countries, but this works for me.
- Remember to take a step back when you're shaping your nails and check they're looking even.

There are several types of nail files. You may find some that curve on an angle and the reason why they're rounded is to help you file.
Some people have a preference. They like them with fancy patterns or they like them shaped different because it helps them file better.
The coarser the grit the stronger the nail file. You can also use one that has like the cotton squishiness in between or the plastic in between. What this does is it avoids you from cutting the skin on the sides of the nail. Some people don't know their own strength so they cut the sides of their finger with the nail file. But the plastic creates a barrier between your skin and the nail file to avoid cutting the skin on the corners.
The smoother the nail file the smoother the nail will look at the end. If it's soft enough like this you can actually go in and just buff the oil off of the nail. But the emery board I would never recommend putting it across the top of the nail bed. You never want to thin out your nail bed with a nail file. You always want to use a buffer just to remove the shine and the natural oils that our body produces that surfaces on the nail bed.
Nail files stay on the sides of the nail and at the free edge. Emery boards are safe for natural nails. Coarser grit nail files are used for artificial nails or nails that have been covered with gels or acrylics or extended. The coarsest nail file you use should only be used on tips because you never want to damage your natural nail.

Nail file
A nail file is a tool used to gently grind down and shape the edges of nails. They are often used in manicures and pedicures after the nail has been trimmed using appropriate nail clippers. Nail files may either be emery boards, ceramic, glass, crystal, plain metal files or metal files coated with corundum (sapphire).
Materials
Emery board
Emery boards are pieces of cardboard which have emery or emery paper glued to them, making them both abrasive and flexible, used for fingernail and toenail care. They are used by manicurists to shape and smooth the nail during manicure and pedicure sessions. Emery boards are inexpensive and disposable, making them a sanitary alternative to metal nail files. The emery board was first patented by J. Parker Pray of New York in 1883.
Emery boards are generally less abrasive than the metal nail files, and hence, emery boards may take longer to file down nails than metal nail files. However, nail files may play a role in disease transmission if they are used on more than one person without adequate sterilization. Emery boards are usually less expensive than metal nail files, therefore emery boards can be economically disposed of after use on a single person. The nail can be smoothed and shaped accurately by taking light, even strokes in one direction across the top of the nail. Twenty to thirty easy strokes can typically shorten excessively long fingernails, while five to ten strokes are sufficient for shaping the nails.

Nail Polish (TV serial)
Nail Polish is a Pakistani drama serial aired on A-Plus Entertainment. It is directed by Kaleem Rajput and produced by Abid Hassan. The debuting Rahma Ali is featured in the lead role, while Humaira Ali, Usman Peerzada, Abdullah Ejaz and Tehseen Wajahat Chishti portray supporting roles. The drama started airing on 3 March 2011 and ended on 12 May 2011. It was a weekly television serial that airs every Thursday.
Plot
Sonia (Rahma Ali) is a young girl who studies in college and belongs to a poor family living in a small town called Khaddepur. One day, while going to her college, she gets involved in a car accident and the car is driven by Naveed (Abdullah Ijaz), the driver of a famous and influential fashion designer Nafisa Mehboob (Humaira Ali). Nafisa tells Naveed to apologize to Sonia. Sonia comes to know that Nafisa is a fashion designer and wants to work at her beauty parlor. Sonia is a rude girl, who just wants enjoyment in her life and begins contacting Naveed and also starts visiting Nafisa to get a job at the beauty parlor. However, Sonia's happy life is ruined when she comes to know that the people who she is living with are not her parents and comes to know that the woman who grew her up is not her mother and has stolen her from hospital. The young Sonia starts disobeying her mother and starts increasing to visit Nafisa. She starts getting involved in this controversial fashion industry in hopes of becoming an upcoming model.

READ THIS: - Grit: The lower the grit, the rougher the file. 100 grit is good for shaping acrylics, but 240 grit is good for shaping the natural nail. 180 is the lowest you'd want to go for the natural nail. The 180 grit file from EzFlow is called Grey Fox. - The Rough Remover by Mambo is usually used to buff the nail before gel polish, or to smooth off acrylic. However I've found it really useful to smooth off my nails and push together the layers of keratin to prevent delamination. Natural nail buffers (with the four sides) don't handle the edges of nails very well, so I find these other buffers a happy medium. - I buy my files here: http://www.head2toebeauty.com/nail_buffers_files/nbf.htm - Sorry about the crappy video quality. I'm hoping that in two-three months there will be a dramatic improvement! - My almond here isn't that pointy, but it would have messed up my oval nails if I had made them more so. - Sawing/going both ways. Since this is my own video I'm quite happy to say/show that I DO "saw" my nails and my nails are REALLY healthy. And long. And strong. I've done 20 hours of gardening and wood-moving this week and they're still perfecto. - Yes, I'm qualified, and was told in my training that going back and forth is okay - if the file is the right grit! I know that training does vary and that there are different rules for different countries, but this works for me. - Remember to take a step back when you're shaping your nails and check they're looking even. You may find some that curve on an angle and the reason why they're rounded is to help you file. Some people have a preference. They like them with fancy patterns or they like them shaped different because it helps them file better. The coarser the grit the stronger the nail file. You can also use one that has like the cotton squishiness in between or the plastic in between. What this does is it avoids you from cutting the skin on the sides of the nail. Some people don't know their own strength so they cut the sides of their finger with the nail file. But the plastic creates a barrier between your skin and the nail file to avoid cutting the skin on the corners. The smoother the nail file the smoother the nail will look at the end. If it's soft enough like this you can actually go in and just buff the oil off of the nail. But the emery board I would never recommend putting it across the top of the nail bed. You never want to thin out your nail bed with a nail file. You always want to use a buffer just to remove the shine and the natural oils that our body produces that surfaces on the nail bed. Nail files stay on the sides of the nail and at the free edge. Emery boards are safe for natural nails. Coarser grit nail files are used for artificial nails or nails that have been covered with gels or acrylics or extended. The coarsest nail file you use should only be used on tips because you never want to damage your natural nail. Now you know about all your different options of nail files that you have to use. -

- Grit: The lower the grit, the rougher the file. 100 grit is good for shaping acrylics, but 240 grit is good for shaping the natural nail. 180 is the lowest you'd want to go for the natural nail. The 180 grit file from EzFlow is called Grey Fox.
- The Rough Remover by Mambo is usually used to buff the nail before gel polish, or to smooth off acrylic. However I've found it really useful to smooth off my nails and push together the layers of keratin to prevent delamination. Natural nail buffers (with the four sides) don't handle the edges of nails very well, so I find these other buffers a happy medium.

- Sorry about the crappy video quality. I'm hoping that in two-three months there will be a dramatic improvement!
- My almond here isn't that pointy, but it would have messed up my oval nails if I had made them more so.
- Sawing/going both ways. I'm kind of anticipating a bit of backlash about me showing this as an option... hopefully I'm wrong! Since this is my own video I'm quite happy to say/show that I DO "saw" my nails and my nails are REALLY healthy. And long. And strong. I've done 20 hours of gardening and wood-moving this week and they're still perfecto.
- Yes, I'm qualified, and was told in my training that going back and forth is okay - if the file is the right grit! I know that training does vary and that there are different rules for different countries, but this works for me.
- Remember to take a step back when you're shaping your nails and check they're looking even.

There are several types of nail files. You may find some that curve on an angle and the reason why they're rounded is to help you file.
Some people have a preference. They like them with fancy patterns or they like them shaped different because it helps them file better.
The coarser the grit the stronger the nail file. You can also use one that has like the cotton squishiness in between or the plastic in between. What this does is it avoids you from cutting the skin on the sides of the nail. Some people don't know their own strength so they cut the sides of their finger with the nail file. But the plastic creates a barrier between your skin and the nail file to avoid cutting the skin on the corners.
The smoother the nail file the smoother the nail will look at the end. If it's soft enough like this you can actually go in and just buff the oil off of the nail. But the emery board I would never recommend putting it across the top of the nail bed. You never want to thin out your nail bed with a nail file. You always want to use a buffer just to remove the shine and the natural oils that our body produces that surfaces on the nail bed.
Nail files stay on the sides of the nail and at the free edge. Emery boards are safe for natural nails. Coarser grit nail files are used for artificial nails or nails that have been covered with gels or acrylics or extended. The coarsest nail file you use should only be used on tips because you never want to damage your natural nail.

There are several types of nail files. You may find some that curve on an angle and the reason why they're rounded is to help you file.
Some people have a preference. They like them with fancy patterns or they like them shaped different because it helps them file better.
The coarser the grit the stronger the nail file. You can also use one that has like the cotton squishiness in between or the plastic in between. What this does is it avoids you from cutting the skin on the sides of the nail. Some people don't know their own strength so they cut the sides of their finger with the nail file. But the plastic creates a barrier between your skin and the nail file to avoid cutting the skin on the corners.
The smoother the nail file the smoother the nail will look at the end. If it's soft enough like this you can actually go in and just buff the oil off of the nail. But the emery board I would never recommend putting it across the top of the nail bed. You never want to thin out your nail bed with a nail file. You always want to use a buffer just to remove the shine and the natural oils that our body produces that surfaces on the nail bed.
Nail files stay on the sides of the nail and at the free edge. Emery boards are safe for natural nails. Coarser grit nail files are used for artificial nails or nails that have been covered with gels or acrylics or extended. The coarsest nail file you use should only be used on tips because you never want to damage your natural nail.

How To File Your Nails | Almond, Oval & Squoval
READ THIS: - Grit: The lower the grit, the rougher the file. 100 grit is good for shaping acrylics, but 240 grit is good for shaping the natural nail. 180 is the lowest you'd want to go for the natural nail. The 180 grit file from EzFlow is called Grey Fox. - The Rough Remover by Mambo is usually used to buff the nail before gel polish, or to smooth off acrylic. However I've found it really useful to smooth off my nails and push together the layers of keratin to prevent delamination. - Grit: The lower the grit, the rougher the file. 100 grit is good for shaping acrylics, but 240 grit is good for shaping the natural nail. 180 is the lowest you'd want to go for the natural nail. The 180 grit file from EzFlow is called Grey Fox.
- The Rough Remover by Mambo is usually used to buff the nail before gel polish, or to smooth off acrylic. However I've found it really useful to smooth off my nails and push together the layers of keratin to prevent delamination. Natural nail buffers (with the four sides) don't handle the edges of nails very well, so I find these other buffers a happy medium.

- Sorry about the crappy video quality. I'm hoping that in two-three months there will be a dramatic improvement!
- My almond here isn't that pointy, but it would have messed up my oval nails if I had made them more so.
- Sawing/going both ways. I'm kind of anticipating a bit of backlash about me showing this as an option... hopefully I'm wrong! Since this is my own video I'm quite happy to say/show that I DO "saw" my nails and my nails are REALLY healthy. And long. And strong. I've done 20 hours of gardening and wood-moving this week and they're still perfecto.
- Yes, I'm qualified, and was told in my training that going back and forth is okay - if the file is the right grit! I know that training does vary and that there are different rules for different countries, but this works for me.
- Remember to take a step back when you're shaping your nails and check they're looking even.

There are several types of nail files. You may find some that curve on an angle and the reason why they're rounded is to help you file.
Some people have a preference. They like them with fancy patterns or they like them shaped different because it helps them file better.
The coarser the grit the stronger the nail file. You can also use one that has like the cotton squishiness in between or the plastic in between. What this does is it avoids you from cutting the skin on the sides of the nail. Some people don't know their own strength so they cut the sides of their finger with the nail file. But the plastic creates a barrier between your skin and the nail file to avoid cutting the skin on the corners.
The smoother the nail file the smoother the nail will look at the end. If it's soft enough like this you can actually go in and just buff the oil off of the nail. But the emery board I would never recommend putting it across the top of the nail bed. You never want to thin out your nail bed with a nail file. You always want to use a buffer just to remove the shine and the natural oils that our body produces that surfaces on the nail bed.
Nail files stay on the sides of the nail and at the free edge. Emery boards are safe for natural nails. Coarser grit nail files are used for artificial nails or nails that have been covered with gels or acrylics or extended. The coarsest nail file you use should only be used on tips because you never want to damage your natural nail.
