Robert William Gary Moore (4 April 1952 – 6 February 2011) was a Northern Irish musician, most widely recognised as a singer, songwriter and virtuoso rock and blues guitarist.
In a career dating back to the 1960s, Moore played with musicians including Phil Lynott and Brian Downey during his teenage years, leading him to memberships of the Irish bands Skid Row and Thin Lizzy, and British band Colosseum II. Moore shared the stage with such blues and rock musicians as B.B. King, Albert King, Jack Bruce, Albert Collins, George Harrison and Greg Lake, as well as having a successful solo career. He guested on a number of albums recorded by high-profile musicians.
Moore grew up on Castleview Road opposite Stormont Parliament Buildings, off the Upper Newtownards Road in east Belfast, as one of five children of Bobby, a promoter, and Winnie, a housewife. He left the city as a teenager, because of troubles in his family – his parents parted a year later – just as The Troubles were starting in Northern Ireland.

Philip Parris "Phil" Lynott (/ˈlaɪnət/; 20 August 1949 – 4 January 1986) was an Irish musician, singer and songwriter. His most commercially successful group was Thin Lizzy, of which he was a founding member, the principal songwriter, lead vocalist and bassist. He later also found success as a solo artist.
Growing up in Dublin in the 1960s, Lynott fronted several bands as a lead vocalist, most notably Skid Row alongside Gary Moore, before learning the bass guitar and forming Thin Lizzy in 1969. After initial success with "Whiskey in the Jar", the band found strong commercial success in the mid-1970s with hits such as "The Boys Are Back in Town", "Jailbreak" and "Waiting for an Alibi", and became a popular live attraction due to the combination of Lynott's vocal and songwriting skills and the use of dual lead guitars. Towards the end of the 1970s, Lynott also embarked upon a solo career, published two books of poetry, and after Thin Lizzy disbanded, he assembled and fronted the band Grand Slam, of which he was the leader until it folded in 1985.
"Parisienne Walkways" is a song by the guitarist Gary Moore that reached number 8 in the UK Singles Chart in May 1979. The song is a track from the album Back on the Streets and features a vocal from Thin Lizzy front man, Phil Lynott, who co-wrote the song with Moore. The melody is based on the jazz standard "Blue Bossa" by Kenny Dorham. It's Gary Moore's signature song.
The guitarist continued to play the song as an encore at concerts throughout his career. A live version of the track, recorded at The Royal Albert Hall, was released in 1993 as part of a limited edition 4-track CD single entitled "Parisienne Walkways '93" and went on to reach #32 in the UK Singles Chart. This version appeared on Moore's 1993 live album Blues Alive and was also included on the 2002 compilation album The Best Air Guitar Album In The World....II. The original single and a (previously unreleased?) 1983 live version feature as the first and final track on the 2006 compilation, The Platinum Collection.

GARY MOORE (4 April 1952 - 6 February 2011) In remembrance to one of my all time guitar heroes, who sadly passed away a year ago today. This remains one of my favourite performances by him and I can still remember buying the original version, written and recorded by Roy Buchanan, when I was still a 15 year old boy and starting out learning to play the guitar. This performance was recorded at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1990 - a venue he revisited a number of times through the years. Gary, you are sadly missed.

It was a very cold, but sunny day in Surrey – Southern England, we pulling up outside Darrin’s house in a nice part of the suburbs of London. Two cups of tea later, we pinned Darrin down to talk about his career to date and the some what strange way in which he joined Primal Scream. Darrin started playing at the age of 12 at school. His first teacher was Dave Clifford who was a tough, very large ex army man who suffered no fools and no excuses. Throughout his school years Darrin studied with Dave and played in various school bands and orchestras playing both drums and percussion. These early years were very important in Darrin’s musical journey because Dave had a magical way of breaking down problems and explaining notation and phrasing. In 1997 Darrin joined Primal Scream. One-two
Rollin'
Okey, sundown
Hm, hm
You know late one evenin',
I went out to the outskirts of town
Late one evenin',
I went out to the outskirts of town
And I chose me a seatin',
Watched the evenin' sun go down
I say little girl,
You know you done broke my heart
Little girl, little girl,
You know you done broke my heart
And it's so sad to say
That the best friends have to part
You know I wake up soon in the mornin'
And I'm feelin' sick and bad
Yes, I wakes up soon in the mornin'
And I'm feelin' sick and bad
I'm thinking 'bout the good times
That I once have had
Little girl, little girl,
Your little trouble comin' home one day
Little girl, little girl,
Your little trouble comin' home one day
You're gonna be sorry
For treating poor me this way
You know people don't seem to like you
When you try to be lovin' and kind
People don't seem to like you
When you try to be lovin' and kind
One day they're comin' after you
And you'll be done change your mind
You know the blues is a weird, old heart disease
You know the blues is a weird, old heart disease
Well, it seems like you try to love somebody
And they're so hard to please
You know the sun is goin' down
Behind that old western hill
The sun is goin' down
Behind that old western hill
Well, I never practised nothin',
But I guess my little baby will
Hm-hm.
