Glen Travis Campbell (born April 22, 1936) is an American rock and country music singer, guitarist, songwriter, television host, and occasional actor. He is best known for a series of hits in the 1960s and 1970s, and for hosting a variety show called The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS television.
During his 50 years in show business, Campbell has released more than 70 albums. He has sold 45 million records and accumulated 12 RIAA Gold albums, 4 Platinum albums and 1 Double-Platinum album. He has placed a total of 80 different songs on either the Billboard Country Chart, Billboard Hot 100, and/or the Adult Contemporary Chart, of which 29 made the Top 10 and of which nine reached number one on at least one of those charts. Campbell's hits include his recordings of John Hartford's "Gentle on My Mind"; Jimmy Webb's "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", "Wichita Lineman", and "Galveston"; Larry Weiss's "Rhinestone Cowboy"; and Allen Toussaint's "Southern Nights".
Campbell made history in 1967 by winning four Grammys total, in the country and pop categories. For "Gentle on My Mind" he received two awards in country and western, "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" did the same in pop. Three of his early hits later won Grammy Hall of Fame Awards (2000, 2004, 2008), while Campbell himself won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. He owns trophies for Male Vocalist of the Year from both the Country Music Association (CMA) and the Academy of Country Music (ACM), and took the CMA's top award as 1968 Entertainer of the Year. In 1969 actor John Wayne picked Campbell to play alongside him in the film True Grit, which gave Campbell a Golden Globe nomination for Most Promising Newcomer. Campbell sang the title song which was nominated for an Academy Award.

A greatest hits album, sometimes called a "best of" album or a catalog album, is a compilation of songs by a particular artist or band. Most often the track list contains previously released recordings with a high degree of notability. However, to increase the appeal, especially to people who already own the original release, it is common to include remixes and/or alternate takes of popular songs; even new material (previously unreleased). At times a greatest hits compilation is the original release for songs that have themselves been released as a single and charted successfully.
Madonna's The Immaculate Collection is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a solo artist; all of the songs on it are presented in different versions than the original hit versions. The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a group and also one of the ten best selling albums in history. Greatest hits albums are typically produced after an artist has had enough successful songs to fill out an album release. Some artists, such as Mariah Carey, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Kenny Rogers, Aerosmith, Kiss, U2, Dolly Parton, Journey, Los Tigres del Norte, Queen, Kylie Minogue and Billy Joel, have released multiple greatest hits albums through their long careers. Some greatest hits albums are released only at the end of the artist or group's career. For example, My Chemical Romance released a greatest hits album after they disbanded. Other artists, like Eminem have released hits albums in the center of their success. He released Curtain Call: The Hits in 2005 and then Shady XV as a compilation album in 2014.

Glen Campbell announced plans to release his final studio album, six years after the country singer was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. "Adios" will cap of the singer's more than five-decade long career and will include songs Campbell has always wanted to share but never got around to recording. The 80-year-old recorded "Adios" in Nashville following his 2012 "Goodbye Tour" which he embarked on after he was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. "Glen’s abilities to play, sing and remember songs began to rapidly decline after his diagnosis in 2011," the singer's wife Kim Campbell said in a press release. "A feeling of urgency grew to get him into the studio one last time to capture what magic was left. It was now or never." The 12-track album will include songs from Campbell's longtime ...

‘The Body is a Big Place’ Peta Clancy and Helen Pynor Sound by Gail Priest ‘The Body is a Big Place’ is a large-scale, immersive installation developed through collaboration between artists and scientists. The work explores organ transplantation and the ambiguous thresholds between life and death, revealing the process of death as an extended durational process, rather than an event that occurs in a single moment in time. The work’s title refers to the capacity for parts of the body to traverse vast geographic, temporal and interpersonal distances during organ transplantation processes. As part of the installation a fully functioning heart perfusion system was used to reanimate to a beating state a pair of fresh pig hearts during 2 live performances. Rather than sensationalising these ev...

This song with its seemingly upbeat chorus is actually about the hope of the hopeless. Glen Campbell sang the original in the key of C with a lush orchestral arrangement. I went with a sparse arrangement, just playing acoustic guitar and singing along live, down a full step in the key of B. Much of the photography is mine, but I used Google images extensively as well.
About The Song __________________ The song, "Make It Easy on Yourself", is a early 1960s sensation written by the Legendary team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It was first made a hit by the Great R&B; and Soul artist, Jerry Butler. After this, in 1965, the famous Brother group known as "The Walker Brothers" had their own smash Top 40 hit on the song. But, probably, the best known version of this soulful tune had belongs to the World renown singer, Dionne Warwick, who in 1970 brought out her own version before a live audience in Holmdel, New Jersey. Throughout later years many other well known artists and groups brought out their own versions of this powerful classic. To name a few, Connie Francis, The Four Seasons, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Glen Campbell, Bobby Vee, and Sarah...

I loved his early music and TV show. Please look for my book, "Jazz Chord Solos for the Ukulele," that will be released fall 2012. Also, please support my music by purchasing my CDs from either me, CD Baby Amazon or iTunes.
