Bent is a powerful and moving film adaptation of Martin Sherman's award winning stage play. Set amidst the decadence of pre-war fascist Germany, Bent is an emotional tale of love as three homosexual men fight for survival in the face of persecution. The story begins during the 'Night of the Long Knives'. Max (Clive Owen) and Rudi (Brian Webber) are enjoying an evenings entertainment in Greta's Club. Whilst watching Greta/George (Mick Jagger) perform, the two men fall into the hands of Hitler's men.
Their escape forces them to spend two years on the run, begging for help from reluctant friends and relatives such as Uncle Freddie (Ian McKellen). Finally they are caught and sent to a detention camp. Within the confines of the camp Max meets and falls in love with Horst (Lothaire Bluteau). Their secret love affair, which begins under the most extreme regime, is as inspirational as it is emotional.
Bent illustrates how the selfless love of one person for another can overcome oppression, even under the most extreme circumstances.
The clips of Mick Jagger as the drag queen "Greta" from the 1997 movie Bent, starring Clive Owen, Lothaire Bluteau and Brian Webber, about gay men during the Holocaust. It is based on a highly acclaimed play of the same name. These clips are mostly from Greta's gay club. Everyone needs to see this movie, as long as sex, violence, and most of all gayness doesn't bother you. It is VERY DEPRESSING. These are the happiest clips of the movie, pretty much. But it's beautiful, well worth it. The movie is available in full on Youtube, or streaming on Netflix, if you're cheap like me :)

Max (Clive Owen) denies his homosexuality when taken to a concentration camp under the Nazi regime, and chooses to wear a yellow star denoting Jewishness rather than the pink one reserved for homosexuality. While there, Max falls for the out-and-proud Horst (Lothaire Bluteau), and in the horrific, de-humanised environment their erotic attachment sustains them, but also lays them open to attack.

Bent (film)
Bent is a 1997 British/Japanese drama film directed by Sean Mathias, based on the 1979 play of the same name by Martin Sherman, who also wrote the screenplay. It revolves around the persecution of homosexuals in Nazi Germany after the murder of SA leader Ernst Röhm on the Night of the Long Knives.
Plot
Max (Clive Owen) is a promiscuous gay man living in 1930s Berlin. He is at odds with his wealthy family because of his homosexuality. One evening, much to the resentment of his boyfriend, Rudy (Brian Webber II), Max brings home a handsome SA man (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Unfortunately, he does so on the Night of the Long Knives, when Hitler ordered the assassination of upper echelon SA corps. The Sturmabteilung man is discovered and killed by SS men in Max and Rudy's apartment, and the two have to flee Berlin.
Max's Uncle Freddie (Ian McKellen) has organised new papers for Max, but Max refuses to leave his boyfriend behind. As a result, Max and Rudy are found and arrested by the Gestapo and put on a train headed for Dachau. On the train, Rudy is brutally beaten to death by the guards. As Rudy calls out to Max when he is taken away, Max lies to the guards, denying he is gay. In the camp, Max falls in love with Horst (Lothaire Bluteau), who shows him the dignity that lies in acknowledging one's beliefs.

On the surface, Alex and Pete could not be more different. Maar wat zijn we dan wel? Wat is constant in ons? Welke aanwijzingen geeft de Cursus ons om ons ware Zelf te ontdekken? Wat verstaat de Cursus onder ons Zelf? Eén ding weten we alvast bij voorbaat: dat Zelf delen we met elkaar, omdat alleen waarheid gedeeld kan worden en illusie niet. We zijn één Zelf (WdI.95).
