Plus (TV channel)

Plus was a digital channel run by Granada Sky Broadcasting. It was launched on 1 October 1996 under the original name of Granada Plus, and during its availability it underwent successive rebrands as G Plus, G+ and then simply Plus. However, it remained widely referred to by the public at large by its original name. On 1 November 2004, it was permanently closed down by ITV plc in an attempt to bring its replacement, ITV3, on Sky.

History

Granada Plus was launched on 1 October 1996 at 19:00. From launch, the channel initially showed only programmes made originally by Granada Television and London Weekend Television (itself recently acquired by Granada Television), such as On the Buses, Crown Court, The Comedians and The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club. One of the channel's biggest attractions was a thrice-daily repeat of classic Coronation Street episodes from 1976.

Many of these programmes would have been unshown since their original transmissions, and hence were of value to those interested in classic television, but these early schedules lacked the commercial appeal of rival channel UK Gold, which had long since moved from showing little-seen gems to showing television's 'greatest hits'.

Plus Communication SH.A. (Albanian: PLUS) is a telecommunication company headquartered in Tirana, Albania. It is the first Albanian mobile telecommunication company and 4th mobile operator in Albania. It is also the sponsor of the Albanian football team.

Opening

The company's technological center was opened on 28 November 2010, a day that represents the Albanian Independence Day and it was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

International relations

PLUS has formed partnerships with Nokia Siemens, NEC, and Comverse for provision of some of its equipment and services.

Services

Currently, PLUS has more than 97.9% coverage of the population and continues to expand. Zona PLUS shops and points of sale are present throughout Albania.

PLUS products and services are such as “Choose your number”, presented since the first day of PLUS launching in the market, “PLUS Special” etc. Products for prepaid customers include “PLUS Unik” & “PLUS Student” tariff plans. Postpaid customers, individuals or businesses may choose “PLUS Personal” or “PLUS Partner” tariff plans along with a variety of designated bundles.

Plus (EP)

Plus is a live EP by Matt Nathanson containing three songs. It was released on October 14, 2003, the same day as his full-length album Beneath These Fireworks.

Dream (chocolate)

Dream is a brand of white chocolate by Cadbury. It is no longer manufactured in the UK and Ireland, but is still produced in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It is similar to a Milkybar, which is made by Nestlé. Some of the difference between it and Milkybar is that "Dream" uses real cocoa butter, is slimmer then the Milkybar, and the Milkybar uses puffed rice. It was first launched in Australia and New Zealand in 2001. According to Cadbury, the product became one of the top five block chocolate brands in New Zealand and had driven growth in the overall chocolate market. In 2002, the product was launched in the United Kingdom and Canada and was featured in the credits for Coronation Street.

Dream (sculpture)

Dream is a sculpture and a piece of public art by Jaume Plensa in Sutton, St Helens, Merseyside. Costing approximately £1.8m, it was funded through The Big Art Project in coordination with the Arts Council England, The Art Fund and Channel 4.

Origin

In 2008 St Helens took part in Channel 4's "The Big Art Project" along with several other sites. The project culminated in the unveiling of Dream, a 66 feet sculpture located on the old Sutton Manor Colliery site.

St Helens retains strong cultural ties to the coal industry and has several monuments including the wrought iron gates of Sutton Manor Colliery, as well as the 1995 town centre installation by Thompson Dagnall known as "The Landings" (depicting individuals working a coal seam) and Arthur Fleischmann's Anderton Shearer monument (a piece of machinery first used at the Ravenhead Mine).

The council and local residents (including approximately 15 former miners from the colliery) were involved in the consultation and commission process through which Dream was selected. The plans involved a full landscaping of the surrounding area on land previously allowed to go wild after the closure of the pit.

Dream (Angie Stone album)

Dream is the seventh studio album by American recording artist Angie Stone, released on November 6, 2015 by Shanachie Records in collaboration with Conjunction Entertainment and TopNotch Music. Following short stints with Stax Records and the Saguaro Road label, Stone signed with Shanachie Records Entertainment through an alliance with frequent collaborator Walter Millsap III. Millsap and Stone co-wrote the majority of the album with a core group that included former The Clutch members Candice Nelson, Balewa Muhammad and producer Hallway Productionz.

Release and promotion

On May 8, 2015, promotional single "Dream" was released to iTunes Store. The song was featured on "Love of Ruth", a television film by TV1. Later in August, Stone confirmed that her seventh studio album will be released on November. On October 3, the album was made available for Pre-Order on iTunes Store with promotional single "Magnet" open for downloading.

Singles

Low (Foo Fighters song)

"Low" was the third single to be released from the Foo Fighters' fourth album One by One, released in 2002. It was released as a single in 2003.Dave Grohl described "Low" as "the kind of song that you pray would be a single. (...) It’s the one that everybody likes, but there’s just no way ’cause it’s too weird." The song begun as an instrumental demo written by Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins in Hawkins' home studio in Topanga, California, some time after the 2002 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The official music video features Grohl and Jack Black entering a motel, where they proceed to get drunk, cross-dress and wreck the motel room. Originally, Grohl wanted to just film Black dancing in drag for four minutes with no edits, but director Jesse Peretz convinced him otherwise, instead creating the storyline about rednecks in lingerie at a motel room. The video was banned on MTV for its content.

A live version recorded on December 4, 2002 at the Oslo Spektrum was released with the Special Norwegian Edition of the One by One album.
