St. Petersburg is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. As of the 2013 census estimate, the population was 249,688,[3] making St. Petersburg the 4th most populous city in the state of Florida and the largest city in Florida that is not a county seat[4] (the city of Clearwater is the county seat). St. Petersburg is the second largest city in the Tampa Bay Area, after Tampa, composed of roughly 2.8 million residents,[5] making it the second largest Metropolitan Statistical Area in the state. It is also a popular vacation destination for both American and foreign tourists.
The city is often referred to by locals as St. Pete. Neighboring St. Pete Beach formally shortened its name in 1994 after a vote by its residents. St. Petersburg is governed by a mayor and city council.[6]
The city is located on a peninsula between Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. It is connected to mainland Florida to the north; with the city of Tampa to the east by causeways and bridges across Tampa Bay; and to Bradenton in the south by the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (Interstate 275), which traverses the mouth of the bay. It is also served by Interstates 175 and 375, which branch off I-275 into the southern and northern areas of downtown respectively. The Gandy Bridge, conceived by George Gandy and opened in 1924, was the first causeway to be built across Tampa Bay, connecting St. Petersburg and Tampa cities without a circuitous 43-mile (69 km) trip around the bay through Oldsmar.
With an average of some 361 days of sunshine each year, and a Guinness World Record for logging the most consecutive days of sunshine (768 days),[7][8] it is nicknamed "The Sunshine City".[9] Due to its good weather and low cost of living, the city has long been a popular retirement destination, although in recent years the population has moved in a much more youthful direction.[10] American Style magazine ranked St. Petersburg its top mid-size city in 2011, citing its "vibrant" arts scene.[11]

St. Petersburg is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. St. Petersburg was founded in 1888 by John C. Williams, who purchased the land, and by Peter Demens, who brought the railroad industry into the area. As a part of a coin toss bet, the winner, Peter Demens, named the land after Saint Petersburg, Russia, while Williams opted to name the first hotel built which was named the Detroit Hotel, both named after their home towns respectively. St. Petersburg was incorporated as a town on February 29, 1892 and re-incorporated as a city on June 6, 1903.

Saint Petersburg (Russian: Санкт-Петербу́рг, tr. Sankt-Peterburg; IPA: [ˈsankt pʲɪtʲɪrˈburk]) is the second largest city in Russia. It is politically incorporated as a federal subject (a federal city). It is located on the Neva River at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. It is Russia's second-largest city after Moscow, with 5 million inhabitants (2012), and the fourth most populated federal subject. Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay is a large natural harbor and estuary connected to the Gulf of Mexico on the west central coast of Florida, comprising Hillsboro Bay, McKay Bay, Old Tampa Bay, Middle Tampa Bay, and Lower Tampa Bay. The surrounding area is home to about 4 million residents, making it a heavily used commercial and recreational waterway but putting much stress on the bay's ecosystem, which once teemed with enough wildlife to easily support an extensive indigenous culture. Much greater care has been taken in recent decades to mitigate the effects of human habitation on Tampa Bay, and water quality has slowly improved over time.
The term "Tampa Bay" is sometimes used as shorthand to refer to all or parts of the Tampa Bay area, which comprises many towns and cities in several counties surrounding the large body of water. Local marketing and branding efforts (including several professional sports teams, tourist boards, and chambers of commerce) commonly use the moniker "Tampa Bay", furthering the misconception that it is the name of a particular municipality when this is not the case.

With an average of some 361 days of sunshine each year, and a Guinness World Record for logging the most consecutive days of sunshine (768 days),[7][8] it is nicknamed "The Sunshine City".[9] Due to its good weather and low cost of living, the city has long been a popular retirement destination, although in recent years the population has moved in a much more youthful direction.[10] American Style magazine ranked St. Petersburg its top mid-size city in 2011, citing its "vibrant" arts scene.[11]

Er gehört zu den "Roofern", die den Petersburgern aufs Dach steigen - auf der Jagd nach ungewöhnlichen Panoramen der Stadt. Anton hat ein paar Tricks auf Lager, um in die Gebäude zu gelangen. Für ihn ist es immer ein Wettlauf gegen die Zeit. Gelegentlich rufen Bewohner schon mal die Polizei, wenn sie verdächtige Schritte hören. Auch die Gefahr, von unten entdeckt zu werden ist groß. Ein Roofing-Verbot gibt es bisher noch nicht.
Seit der Öffnung Russlands zum Westen dominieren europäische Geschäfte und Luxuswaren die Einkaufsstraßen wie den Newski-Prospekt. Auch die russische Küche geriet in den Hintergrund. Igor Grischetschkin ist Chefkoch im "Kokoko", einem kleinen Restaurant in der Innenstadt. Mit seinen Kreationen möchte er der russischen Küche zu neuen Erfolgen verhelfen. Igor hat sich entschieden, nur saisonale Produkte für seine Gerichte zu nutzen. Mit Natalia, einer Kräuterkundlerin, geht er in den Wäldern vor der Stadt auf die Suche nach den Zutaten, die er in seine Gerichte einfließen lässt. Dazu gehört seine Borschtsch-Suppe, die er Borschtsch 3.0 nennt. Dafür hat er das traditionelle Gericht in seine Bestandteile zerlegt und neu zusammengesetzt. Igor Grischetschkin hat mit der "Neuen Russischen Küche" Trends gesetzt. Das "Kokoko" gehört für Gourmets schon jetzt zu den besten Restaurants der Stadt.
Kurz nach Mitternacht ist Schichtbeginn für den Lotsen Alexej Rumjantsev. Der Film porträtiert Menschen, die mit ihrem Wissen und Erfindungsreichtum die Stadt mitgestalten und den Weg St. Petersburgs in die Zukunft ebnen.
In den Sommermonaten, wenn die Tage länger werden, entfachen die "Weißen Nächte" ihren Zauber und tauchen die Stadt in ein magisches Licht. Dann ist das historische Stadtzentrum für Anton Waganow eine unerschöpfliche Kulisse. Er gehört zu den "Roofern", die den Petersburgern aufs Dach steigen - auf der Jagd nach ungewöhnlichen Panoramen der Stadt. Anton hat ein paar Tricks auf Lager, um in die Gebäude zu gelangen. Für ihn ist es immer ein Wettlauf gegen die Zeit. Gelegentlich rufen Bewohner schon mal die Polizei, wenn sie verdächtige Schritte hören. Auch die Gefahr, von unten entdeckt zu werden ist groß. Ein Roofing-Verbot gibt es bisher noch nicht.
Seit der Öffnung Russlands zum Westen dominieren europäische Geschäfte und Luxuswaren die Einkaufsstraßen wie den Newski-Prospekt. Auch die russische Küche geriet in den Hintergrund. Igor Grischetschkin ist Chefkoch im "Kokoko", einem kleinen Restaurant in der Innenstadt. Mit seinen Kreationen möchte er der russischen Küche zu neuen Erfolgen verhelfen. Igor hat sich entschieden, nur saisonale Produkte für seine Gerichte zu nutzen. Mit Natalia, einer Kräuterkundlerin, geht er in den Wäldern vor der Stadt auf die Suche nach den Zutaten, die er in seine Gerichte einfließen lässt. Dazu gehört seine Borschtsch-Suppe, die er Borschtsch 3.0 nennt. Dafür hat er das traditionelle Gericht in seine Bestandteile zerlegt und neu zusammengesetzt. Igor Grischetschkin hat mit der "Neuen Russischen Küche" Trends gesetzt. Das "Kokoko" gehört für Gourmets schon jetzt zu den besten Restaurants der Stadt.
