New Orleans (/nuː ˈɔːrlɪnz/,/nuː ˈɔːrliənz/, /nuː ɔːrˈliːnz/, or /ˈnɔːrlənz/; French: La Nouvelle-Orléans [la nuvɛlɔʁleɑ̃]) is a major United States port and the largest city and the center of the metropolitan area in the state of Louisiana. The population of the city was 343,829 as of the 2010 U.S. Census. The New Orleans metropolitan area (New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner Metropolitan Statistical Area) had a population of 1,167,764 in 2010 and was the 46th largest in the United States. The New Orleans–Metairie–Bogalusa Combined Statistical Area, a larger trading area, had a 2010 population of 1,452,502.
The city is named after the Duke of Orleans, who reigned as Regent for Louis XV from 1715 to 1723, as it was established by French colonists and strongly influenced by their European culture. It is well known for its distinct French and Spanish Creole architecture, as well as its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage. New Orleans is also famous for its cuisine, music (particularly as the birthplace of jazz), and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras, dating to French colonial times. The city is often referred to as the "most unique" in the United States.

Plot: A gang is opposed to statehood for Texas, and smuggling everything they can across the border to keep statehood from happening. Sunset Carson and his pal, Frog Millhouse, while on border patrol, receive a message from Matthews, a secret agent when they have never met, warning them that a load of gunpowder is to be smuggled over the border. They intercept Hank and his smugglers and rout them in a gunfight. Returning to Border Patrol Headquarters, Sunset and Frog learn that the U. S. Army, under the command of Sunset's brother Lieutenant Victor Carson, have been given full authority over the Border Patrol station. Meanwhile, "New Orleans", head of the anti-statehood faction and the smuggling, learns that Matthews is a double agent and kills him, appropriating his identification badge. Posing as Matthews, "New Orleans" tricks Lieut. Carson into sending his troops onto a wild-goose chase to clear the way for a big gold shipment to be smuggled over the border. But Sunset has his suspicions and goes elsewhere.

To help offset production costs, please donate to our fundraising campaign: igg.me/at/UpstairsInferno/x/83651 "UPSTAIRS INFERNO" is the eagerly anticipated followup film to the award winning documentary, "Raid of the Rainbow Lounge". After months in development, production has begun. Directed by Robert L. Camina. Forty years ago, on June 24, 1973, a gay bar in New Orleans called the Upstairs Lounge was firebombed, resulting in the largest gay mass murder in U.S. history. Despite that, few people know about the tragedy. Thirty-two people were killed and some bodies were never identified because their families were ashamed that the victims were gay. No one was ever charged with the crime. It appears that the grisly fire had a devastating impact on the N...

This video shows me and my family's cruise vacation aboard the Carnival Elation get affected due to Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac! It includes footage of the various announcements of our current situation in terms of returning to New Orleans, LA. Footage of the choppy seas caused by the winds of Isaac is also shown. It was a good thing we got seasickness pills! We were headed to Mobile, AL but we got news that the Mississippi River was almost ready to reopen. (Known by August 30, 2012 during our extra day at sea) So we were then headed towards back to NOLA on August 30. We finally arrived back in the Mississippi River the very next morning of August 31, 2012. Some apparent damage was seen while along the river, including some more photos (shown nearly at the end of the video) as we head...
"It is, more than anything else, his extraordinary range that impresses. Here’s a guy who can spend months, years, producing a 900-page biography of Teddy Roosevelt and at the same time, just as the first excerpts from that serious yet readable tome are seeing print, publish a 12,000-word cover story in Rolling Stone about Bob Dylan — who can edit both Ronald Reagan’s diaries and Hunter S. Thompson’s letters, who can serve as the official biographer for both Rosa Parks and Jack Kerouac, who can write passionately and authoritatively about Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath and Lance Armstrong’s comeback and Vietnam and Henry Ford and the Mississippi River and Norman Mailer and so much more. There seems to be no end to the subject matter considered fair game by the historian and author Douglas B...

We were headed back up north from the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico after visiting Progreso/Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins and Cozumel Island/Passion Island. It was a long trek up north in the Gulf of Mexico...but something came up... In the first parts of the video, it shows the beautiful sunrise seen while over the Gulf of Mexico, viewed from our stateroom on Riviera Deck, R-39 at the starboard side of the ship. We were cruising up north at max cruising speed. However, this was the day when Hurricane Isaac was pounding home port...in New Orleans, LA! You can hear in the background about the news on Isaac. We were at a safe distance, trailing behind Isaac, about 400 miles from it but the sea was choppy. The...

We went to New Orleans in November, 2011, and took a bunch of video on the trip. This is it! There's the food we ate at Bayona, Commander's Palace, Café Beignet, and more. Plus a lot of the music we heard, like Blues 4 Sale playing at the Balcony Music Club, and Yes Ma'am playing on the street. There's our trip to Harrah's casino, the streetcar out to the Garden District to pet John Goodman's dog, walking Bourbon Street, a cemetery tour and shopping in the French Market. We highly recommend a trip out to this city. Check it out!

Jazz vocalist John Boutté feels he can no longer afford to live in his hometown of New Orleans. He's not alone. Rising housing costs are pushing many musicians and service workers — the backbone of New Orleans' tourism economy — further and further outside the city limits. This suburbanization of the working class poses more than an inconvenience: It's fraying the culture of New Orleans and splintering the very neighborhoods that have nurtured the city's music for decades. Synopsis Documentary Short (2010) - Directed by Chris Newman In 2005, D-Q University, California’s only tribal college, was shut down after a 35-year struggle. Since then, the school’s board of trustees, past students, and community members have tried to reopen the school against all odds. Finding D-QU looks at the often-conflictive relationship between the board and the property’s illegal occupants. This current struggle frames the history of the school, beginning with its establishment in the midst of 1960s civil rights activism and outlines its original vision as a space for self-determined higher education. The film provides a lens in which we can critically examine the wider American Indian movement toward self-determination and sovereignty in its historical context and as it exists...

New Orleans Gangs Documentary 2016 : The Gotti Boyz are INSANE ! New orleans has a very dark side; vicious, merciless gangs. Executions, drug dealing, and kidnapping is only a few of the crimes committed in New Orleans. There are a few gangs dominating the area, but the biggest one, by now doubt, is the Gotti Boyz. Unlike the crips, bloods, or other gangs, they don’t usually wear specific clothes, and care about nothing. Because they grew up in a very poor area, they seem to be more serious and scary. They called themselves “ gotti” because they “ got it / get it “ meaning, they will get what they want and nothing will stop them. Viewer discretion advised ! Enjoy watching ! ---------------------------- More GANGS documentaries 2016 : ATLANTAS HARDEST GANGS : https://youtu.be/T...
