Windcrest, Texas

Windcrest is a city in Bexar County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,364 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Windcrest is located in northeastern Bexar County at 29°30′57″N 98°22′47″W / 29.515930°N 98.379666°W / 29.515930; -98.379666. It is bordered to the north, west, and south by the city of San Antonio and to the east by unincorporated neighborhoods in Bexar County. Windcrest is 11 miles (18 km) northeast of downtown San Antonio.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.6 km²), of which 0.004 square miles (0.01 km²), or 0.23%, is water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 5,105 people, 2,232 households, and 1,618 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,808.9 people per square mile (1,083.0/km²). There were 2,297 housing units at an average density of 1,263.9 per square mile (487.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 84.00% White, 8.23% African American, 0.31% Native American, 2.10% Asian, 0.20% Pacific Islander, 3.80% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 14.93% of the population.
