distinguish|broadcast programming}}
A television program is a segment of content intended for broadcast on vision, other than a commercial, trailer, or any other segment of content not serving as attraction for viewership. It may be a single production, or more commonly, a series of related productions (also called a television series).
A television series that is intended to comprise a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries or serial. Series without a fixed length are usually divided into seasons or series, yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. While there is no defined length, US industry practice tends to favor longer seasons than those of some other countries.
A one-time broadcast may be called a "special," or particularly in the UK a "special episode." A television film ("made-for-TV movie" or "television movie"), is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video.
A program can be either recorded, as on video tape, other various electronic media forms, played with an on-demand player or viewed on live television.
Series (singular) may refer to anything of a serial form:
Heartbeat and heartbeats may refer to:
Changing Places (1975) is the first "campus novel" by British novelist David Lodge. The subtitle is "A Tale of Two Campuses", and thus both the title and subtitle are literary allusions to Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities. It is the first text in Lodge's 'Campus Trilogy' of novels, followed by Small World (1984) and Nice Work (1988).
Changing Places is a comic novel with serious undercurrents. It tells the story of the six-month academic exchange program between fictional universities located in Rummidge (modelled on Birmingham in England) and Plotinus, in the state of Euphoria (modeled on Berkeley in California). The two academics taking part in the exchange are both aged 40, but appear at first to otherwise have little in common, mainly because of the differing academic systems of their native countries.
The English participant, Philip Swallow, is a very conventional and conformist British academic, and somewhat in awe of the American way of life. By contrast the American, Morris Zapp, is a top-ranking American professor who only agrees to go to Rummidge because his wife agrees to postpone long-threatened divorce proceedings on condition that he move out of the marital home for six months. Zapp is at first both contemptuous of, and amused by, what he perceives as the amateurism of British academia.

An example of Heartbeat being shown on UK Gold. The original cue dots (from the ITV transmission) appears to have been kept but the end of... bumper has weirdly been replaced with a holding slide of Nick Berry. Note: I don't have full episode so please don't ask!
The British Heartbeat series has been one of my favourites. I want to say many thanks to the original poster of the video. The reason why I am reposting it is because the series has a special meaning for me. In 2010 I ended up in hospital for two times and every morning (or evening) the patients watched it together. This remains me of my own health struggles. Music by The Claymakers. Original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9zWX43pFdI

From the tv show
For the first time ever ITV’s popular Sunday evening 60s police drama, HEARTBEAT, comes to the stage starring members of the TV cast. HEARTBEAT ran for 18 years from 1992 to 2010 with audiences regularly exceeding 10 million viewers and was constantly in the top five TV programmes across all the channels. Now it comes to the stage in this touring production which, with use of video footage and a clever set, recreates the atmosphere of the 1960s rural Yorkshire settings. Come and see David Stockwell, Gina Ward, PC Geoff Younger and a number of other of the most popular characters in a two-hour live stage production with a brand-new script. Take yourself back to the 60s, with all the great music which was always a feature of the TV series, in this excellent production. www.heartbeatont...
