Players (1979 film)

Players is a 1979 American film about a young tennis player who has an affair with an older woman. It stars Ali McGraw and Dean Paul Martin.

It was known during production as Getting Off. The film was shot in London and Wimbledon. Filming also took place in Mexico.

Filming had to be suspended when Dean Paul Martin fell ill.

A rising tennis star falls in love with an older woman, a jet-setter who's involved with a millionaire, while playing in the Wimbledon championships.

Players is a 2012 Indian action heist film directed by duo Abbas and Mustan Burmawalla and jointly produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Burmawala Partners. The film features an ensemble cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bipasha Basu, Bobby Deol, Sikandar Kher and Omi Vaidya in the lead roles, while Aftab Shivdasani appears in a cameo. The theatrical trailer premiered on 3 November 2011, and the film was released on 6 January 2012. It is an official remake of the 2003 Hollywood blockbuster, The Italian Job, which itself is a remake of the 1969 British caper film, of the same name.Players employs the same plot as the 2003 version, while making the characters and incidents completely different.

The story follows a team of players, consisting of a con-man, an automobile expert who doubles up as a seductress, an illusionist, an explosives expert, an expert hacker and an actor turned prosthetic makeup artist, who plan to steal gold worth ₹100 billion (US$1.5 billion) from a moving train. During the robbery they are double crossed by members of their own team.

Players (G4 TV series)

Players (styled Player$ for logos) is a former TV show that ran on G4 (formerly G4techTV) starting in 2002. It was one of the launch programs for the G4 network. The main premise of the show was to interview famous celebrities and see if they played video games or not, what their favorite ones were, etc. The show was cancelled in December, 2004, but still aired occasionally until January 6, 2006.

Celebrities featured included Robin Williams, Asia Carrera, David Arquette, David Hoffman, Alec Baldwin, Chris Carmack and the Barenaked Ladies.

In February 2012, the related company Uniregistrar Corporation became an ICANN-accredited registrar and launched under the licensed Uniregistry brand name in 2014.

History

Uniregistry Corporation was officially founded in 2012 by Frank Schilling, one of the largest private domain name portfolio owners in the world, and registered in the Cayman Islands. However, the domain Uniregistry.com was registered six years earlier and the company filed an intent to use the name in the Cayman Islands in 2010. Trademark applications for the "Uniregistry" mark and its stylized "U" logo were filed in 2012. That year, Schilling invested $60 million and applied for 54 new top-level domains. Uniregistrar Corporation became an ICANN-accredited registrar in February 2013. In January 2014, Uniregistry Inc. became a subsidiary in Newport Beach, California to house a West Coast service and support team. The registrar began operating under the licensed Uniregistry brand name in 2014. Uniregistry's registry infrastructure was designed by Internet Systems Consortium (ISC) and Uniregistry subsequently purchased its infrastructure in 2013.

Mom (season 1)

The first season of the television comedy series Mom aired between September 23, 2013 and April 14, 2014, on CBS in the United States. The season was produced by Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with series creators Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky and Gemma Baker serving as executive producer.

It follows Christy Plunkett (Anna Faris), a 35-year-old single mother who—after dealing with her battle with alcoholism and drug addiction—decides to restart her life in Napa, California's wine country working as a waitress and attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Her 53-year-old mother Bonnie Plunkett (Allison Janney) is also a recovering drug and alcohol addict, as well as her 17-year-old daughter Violet (Sadie Calvano), who was born when Christy was 16, has become pregnant by her boyfriend Luke (Spencer Daniels). Christy also has a younger son Roscoe (Blake Garrett Rosenthal) by her ex-husband Baxter (Matt L. Jones), a deadbeat drug-dealer. Other prominent characters in the series include the manager of the restaurant where Christy works, Gabriel (Nate Corddry) and the head chef of the restaurant, Rudy (French Stewart). The episodes are usually titled with two odd topics that are mentioned in that episode. Season one of Mom consisted of 22 episodes and aired Mondays in the United States at 9.30 p.m. after Mike & Molly.

"Mom" is a song recorded by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler for her album Rocks and Honey (2013). Country singer Garth Brooks covered the song on his 2014 album Man Against Machine.

Background

Bonnie Tyler first heard the song being performed at a session in the Bluebird Cafe, Nashville, Tennessee. She selected the song to appear on Rocks and Honey.

Critical reception

Carys Jones from Entertainment Focus described "Mom" as "a beautifully written song."

Garth Brooks version

Garth Brooks covered the song on his 2014 album Man Against Machine. He performed it live on Good Morning America in November 2014, receiving a great deal of media attention in promotion of his album. It was released as the album's second single on November 24, 2014.
