The European Commission (EC) is the executive body of the European Union responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the EU treaties and managing the day-to-day business of the EU. Commissioners swear an oath at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, pledging to respect the treaties and to be completely independent in carrying out their duties during their mandate.
The Commission operates as a cabinet government, with 28 members of the Commission (informally known as "commissioners"). There is one member per member state, though members are bound to represent the interests of the EU as a whole rather than their home state. One of the 28 is the Commission President (currently Jean-Claude Juncker) proposed by the European Council and elected by the European Parliament. The Council then appoints the other 27 members of the Commission in agreement with the nominated President, and the 28 members as a single body are then subject to a vote of approval by the European Parliament. The current Commission is the Juncker Commission, which took office in late 2014.
Nigel Paul Farage (/ˈfærɑːʒ/; born 3 April 1964) is a British politician and former commodity broker. He is the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), having held the position since November 2010, and previously from September 2006 to November 2009. Since 1999 he has been a Member of the European Parliament for South East England. He co-chairs the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (formerly "Europe of Freedom and Democracy") group. He has been noted for his sometimes controversial speeches in the European Parliament and has strongly criticised the euro.
Farage was a founding member of UKIP, having left the Conservative Party in 1992 after the signing of the Maastricht Treaty. After unsuccessfully campaigning in European and Westminster parliamentary elections for UKIP since 1994, he was elected MEP for South East England in the 1999 European Parliament Election. He was subsequently re-elected in 2004, 2009 and, most recently, at the 2014 European Parliament Election.
European, or Europeans, may refer to:
Commission may refer to:
The President of the European Commission is the head of the European Commission (the executive branch of the European Union) and therefore the most powerful officeholder in the EU, (loosely) analogous to the role of a country's Prime-Minister / Head of Government (as opposed to the separate role of President of the European Council, who could be seen as the European Union's Head of State) – although, unlike a national head of government, the President of the Commission does not determine foreign policy, command troops or raise taxes. The President of the Commission is responsible for allocating portfolios to members of the Commission and can reshuffle or dismiss them if needed. They determine the Commission's policy agenda and all the legislative proposals it produces (the Commission is the only body that can propose EU laws).
The President of the Commission also represents the EU abroad together with the President of the European Council and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker has launched a bitter attack on members of the European Parliament for failing to show up. Standing up in Strasbourg, he denounced the body as "ridiculous, totally ridiculous". Estimating the number of MEPs at around 30, he said it proved that the parliament was "not serious". Parliament President Antonio Tajani reacted furiously, accusing him of a lack of respect. "You can criticise the parliament, but it's not the commission's job to control the parliament, it's the parliament that has to control the commission," he said. "I will never again attend a meeting of this kind" EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said. But the clash continued. This video is the final result of a several months long project titled "Euroshorts". The budget for this film was awarded to Benoit Detalle and me by the European Travel Commission after our pitch won the Euroshorts competition. The task was to travel around Europe and find a way to present its differences in a short and simple way. The film combines stop motion and time-lapse techniques, both done in studio and on real locations (in 10 european countries). The key idea is to propose an alternative way of travelling by playing a dice game. The rules of the game are simple and can be easily applied to big or small scale travels, and we hope people will be inspired by this film to travel and use the game to explore different cities, countries and continents. Coordinated by the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer, the current edition consists of twelve recommendations that most people can follow without any special skills or advice. I’m so fed up with what I see
People around me aren’t living for anything
Distracted, destructive
I won’t stay quiet while things get worse
I mean every word that I say
This world is always against me but I’m staying the
same
If you don’t stand up for what’s in your heart,
Time will see the end of us
But take heart
When your life begins to bring you down
You’ll always find the will to stand
Shoulder to shoulder we will stand together
Don’t waste a moment of the time we have
Give me the power to take up my cross
I need Your strength to shine a light to the lost
And when the weight of the world begins to crush me
Fill me with righteous anger
Come and fill me up with righteous anger
I need a hand when my guilt gets me down
In this world you will have trouble
But I have overcome this
I have overcome this world
