American, British and Romanian troops have arrived in Poland, beginning a new deployment as a NATO battlegroup. They set off from Germany end March in a convoy of American and British vehicles. NATO is deploying four multinational battlegroups throughout the Baltic States and Poland in a move aimed at defence and deterrence. The footage includes shots of the convoy on the road in Poland and arrival shots of the convoy pulling into a camp in Orzysz, where the troops will be based.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO /ˈneɪtoʊ/; French: Organisation du traité de l'Atlantique Nord; OTAN), also called the North Atlantic Alliance, is an intergovernmental military alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty which was signed on 4 April 1949. The organization constitutes a system of collective defence whereby its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party. NATO's headquarters are located in Haren, Brussels, Belgium, where the Supreme Allied Commander also resides. Belgium is one of the 28 member states across North America and Europe, the newest of which, Albania and Croatia, joined in April 2009. An additional 22 countries participate in NATO's Partnership for Peace program, with 15 other countries involved in institutionalized dialogue programmes. The combined military spending of all NATO members constitutes over 70 percent of the global total. Members' defense spending is supposed to amount to 2 percent of GDP.

Poland (Polish: Polska [ˈpɔlska]), officially the Republic of Poland (Polish: Rzeczpospolita Polska,
listen ), is a country in Central Europe,bordered by Germany to the west; the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south; Ukraine and Belarus to the east; and the Baltic Sea, Kaliningrad Oblast (a Russian exclave) and Lithuania to the north. The total area of Poland is 312,679 square kilometres (120,726 sq mi), making it the 71st largest country in the world and the 9th largest in Europe. With a population of over 38.5 million people, Poland is the 34th most populous country in the world, the 8th most populous country in Europe and the sixth most populous member of the European Union, as well as the most populous post-communist member of the European Union. Poland is a unitary state divided into 16 administrative subdivisions.
The establishment of a Polish state can be traced back to 966, when Mieszko I, ruler of a territory roughly coextensive with that of present-day Poland, converted to Christianity. The Kingdom of Poland was founded in 1025, and in 1569 it cemented a longstanding political association with the Grand Duchy of Lithuania by signing the Union of Lublin. This union formed the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, one of the largest and most populous countries of 16th and 17th-century Europe. The Commonwealth ceased to exist in the years 1772–1795, when its territory was partitioned among Prussia, the Russian Empire, and Austria. Poland regained its independence (as the Second Polish Republic) at the end of World War I, in 1918.

Eastern Europe is the eastern part of the European continent. There is no consensus as to the precise area it refers to, partly because the term has a wide range of geopolitical, geographical, cultural, and socioeconomic connotations. There are "almost as many definitions of Eastern Europe as there are scholars of the region". A related United Nations paper adds that "every assessment of spatial identities is essentially a social and cultural construct". One definition describes Eastern Europe as a cultural (and econo-cultural) entity: the region lying in Europe with main characteristics consisting in Byzantine, Orthodox, and some Turco-Islamic influences. Another definition was created during the Cold War and used more or less synonymously with the term Eastern Bloc. A similar definition names the formerly communist European states outside the Soviet Union as Eastern Europe. Historians and social scientists increasingly view such definitions as outdated or relegating, but they are still heard in everyday speech and used for statistical purposes.

American, British and Romanian troops have arrived in Poland, beginning a new deployment as a NATO battlegroup. They set off from Germany end March in a convoy of American and British vehicles. NATO is deploying four multinational battlegroups throughout the Baltic States and Poland in a move aimed at defence and deterrence. The footage includes shots of the convoy on the road in Poland and arrival shots of the convoy pulling into a camp in Orzysz, where the troops will be based.

Belgrade. Pride & Wounds
A few hours' stop on the way back from Greece helped me realize the nature of the Serbian deadlock. The nationalistic pride made them raise funds to restore Temple of St, Sava, the largest Eastern Orthodox church in the world, despite the relatively low standards of living. At the same time the ruins of the concrete edifices in the town center were (forever?) to bring memory of the 1999 NATO bombings. I am aware that on a very short guided tour, you very much depend on what the guide will show and tell you. Today we’re taking you around one of our favourite cities: Cape Town, South Africa.
We first visited Cape Town in 2015 as the final stop on a monthlong trip across South Africa. However, by the time we arrived, we only had a couple of days to spare and the weather was less than ideal, so we didn’t get to see very much.
We knew we had to return to do the city justice and also film a proper Cape Town travel guide for you guys. This time around, we gave ourselves a full week to spare.
Our days were packed with sightseeing, and with visits to restaurants, chocolate shops, wineries and gin distilleries, so without further delay, let us show you 30 things do in Cape Town, South Africa.

Mission San Juan Capistrano, located on the county’s southernmost tip, features the oldest Californian buildings in use today, and you can tour these almost any day of the week. Just a few years later and a few miles to the north, the sleepy town of Laguna Beach attracted new types of worshippers, namely sun and nature lovers. In the late 19th century, it became a playground for the vacationing wealthy. These days, Laguna Beach is full of hills, winding streets, and creative personalities, and is the perfect place to shop for art.
If you’re looking for something a little off the beaten path, Crystal Cove is the place for you. Where else can you stay in antique cabins put together from old Hollywood movie sets? Not in Newport Beach, where sprawling, million-dollar homes line the harbor. Can you believe you could once buy lots here for $1 an acre?
Hit the waves in Huntington Beach, then head inland to explore the theme parks. The grandfather of all amusement parks is Disneyland®: it’s stood in Anaheim since 1965. Not far away is Knott’s Berry Farm®, once a collection of relocated ghost towns that evolved into a series of rides and amusements intended to celebrate the pioneer spirit.
Do you like monkeys? Do you like to count monkeys? Head over to the Santa Ana Zoo and see how far you get. The benefactors donated the land on which it sits on the condition that there would be at least 50 primates in the collection at all times, and it’s up to you to make sure that promise is kept.
Despite its various architectural marvels, theme parks, and numerous activities, Orange County is famed for something much simpler: its sunsets. Head over to the nearest beach and watch the sun disappear into the Pacific today.

The integrated public transport network in Brussels is operated by Société des Transports Intercommunaux Bruxellois - STIB .
Many metro stations display the works of local artists. With comfortable seats, the service is pleasant even during rush hour. The underground prémétro is a fast way to travel between Gare du Nord, Place de Brouckère, Bourse and the Bruxelles-Midi Eurostar terminal
Tram and bus stops are indicated by red and white signs respectively. The route number and destination are displayed on the front of the vehicle and all stops are request stops. Passengers get on at the front of buses and off at the rear. Brussels' bright yellow and blue trams serve the city centre and suburbs.
JUMP tickets (available for one, five or 10 trips lasting up to an hour including changes, a same-day return trip, or unlimited travel for one or three days) and MOBIB smart cards (which allow you to travel at a discount) are valid on all STIB public transport in Brussels. You can buy JUMP tickets and charge up MOBIB cards at metro stations, bus and tram stops, or at metro station kiosks, BOOTIK agencies, supermarkets and newsagents. JUMP tickets can also be bought on buses and overground trams at a slightly higher price. MOBIB cards can be topped up online.
The Brussels Card , which gives you unlimited travel plus other discounts for 24, 48 or 72 hours, is sold at BOOTIK agencies, tourist information offices, hotels and museums. A one-day Group Ticket gives unlimited travel for a party of up to five travelling together. Brussels Cards and Group Tickets are not valid on the NATO-Airport route.
In addition to the STIB network, Belgian National Railways' local trains depart from Bruxelles-Chapelle, Bruxelles-Quartier Léopold, Bruxelles-Schuman and Bruxelles-Congrès, linking the inner city to the suburbs.
Taxis:
Official Brussels taxis have a taxi light with a blue and yellow plaque on the roof, and can be hailed in the street or picked up at a rank; in the city centre, there are ranks at the major railway stations and at the Bourse, Place de Brouckère and Porte de Namur. Taxis can also be pre-booked by phone from Taxis Autolux (tel: 02 411 4142), Taxis Bleus (tel: 02 268 0000) or Taxis Verts (tel: 02 349 4949). Fares are metered and include service; tipping is optional.
Driving:
Although commuter traffic is heavy on the outskirts of Brussels during rush hour, the centre is relatively easy to negotiate, once the one-way system has been mastered. In addition to car parks located in the city centre, there is pay-and-display parking in certain streets. There is also a large public car park under the Novotel Hotel, Rue de la Montagne. Free street parking is available on Sundays and holidays.

1) Our first impressions of Helsinki included wandering around the city and sampling some Finnish street food in the form of a do it yourself picnic we had on a pedestrian bench.
2) As a day trip we left the urban center of Helsinki via ferry for a wander around quaint Suomenlinna island where we sat down to enjoy ice cream - I tried the Salmiakki flavored one.
3) On a dare I had the opportunity to sample Salmiakki, a black licorice that is popular in Finland and other Scandinavian countries. As a big fan of licorice, I liked it instantly whereas Audrey spat it out immediately.
4) During our stay in Dalsbruk we had the chance to participate in some adventure sports including Sea Kayaking are the Archipelago passing by islands in Kimito where we had a chance to spot wildlife.
5) From Kasnas we took a speed boat to visit Rosala - home to a Viking Center - and from there we continued on to check out Bengtskär Lighthouse.
6) While listening to some great live 70's music we had an opportunity to sample three different kinds of Finnish beer while eating reindeer meat.
7) Having a chance to properly explore Helsinki was a must for both of us. One of the highlights of wandering around the city centre was having a chance to see some of the impressive architecture including Uspenski Cathedral while eating salmon and reindeer meatballs by the Harbor market.
8) During our time in the Finnish Archipelago we were based in the town of Dalsbruk (Swedish name) also called Taalintehdas (Finnish name) a small town home to mostly Swedish speakers also fluent in Finnish.
9) Finally, no trip of ours would be complete without keying in on the local cuisine. Before we left Taalintehdas we check out a super market where we spotted Finnish snacks such as Fazer chocolate, Finnish beer, salmon, Salmiakki, rye bread and more. We're certainly going to miss Finnish cuisine.

3) On a dare I had the opportunity to sample Salmiakki, a black licorice that is popular in Finland and other Scandinavian countries. As a big fan of licorice, I liked it instantly whereas Audrey spat it out immediately.
4) During our stay in Dalsbruk we had the chance to participate in some adventure sports including Sea Kayaking are the Archipelago passing by islands in Kimito where we had a chance to spot wildlife.
5) From Kasnas we took a speed boat to visit Rosala - home to a Viking Center - and from there we continued on to check out Bengtskär Lighthouse.
6) While listening to some great live 70's music we had an opportunity to sample three different kinds of Finnish beer while eating reindeer meat.
7) Having a chance to properly explore Helsinki was a must for both of us. One of the highlights of wandering around the city centre was having a chance to see some of the impressive architecture including Uspenski Cathedral while eating salmon and reindeer meatballs by the Harbor market.
8) During our time in the Finnish Archipelago we were based in the town of Dalsbruk (Swedish name) also called Taalintehdas (Finnish name) a small town home to mostly Swedish speakers also fluent in Finnish.
9) Finally, no trip of ours would be complete without keying in on the local cuisine. Before we left Taalintehdas we check out a super market where we spotted Finnish snacks such as Fazer chocolate, Finnish beer, salmon, Salmiakki, rye bread and more. We're certainly going to miss Finnish cuisine.

Great Mosque of Samarra, Iraq
Once the largest mosque in the world, built in the 9th century on the Tigris River north of Baghdad. The mosque is famous for the Malwiya Tower, a 52-meter minaret with spiraling ramps for worshipers to climb. Among Iraq's most important sites, it even featured on banknotes. The site was bombed in 2005, in an insurgent attack on a NATO position, destroying the top of the minaret and surrounding walls.
The Buddhas of Bamyan, Afghanistan
The most spectacular legacy of Buddhism in the war-torn country, among the tallest standing Buddhas in the world -- the larger at 53 meters, the other 35 -- had survived over 1,500 years since being carved out of sandstone. The Taliban considered the monuments idolatrous and destroyed them with dynamite.
The ancient city of Bosra, Syria
Continually inhabited for 2,500 years, and became the capital of the Romans' Arabian empire. The centerpiece is a magnificent Roman theater dating back to the second century that survived intact until the current conflict. Archaeologists have revealed the site is now severely damaged from mortar shelling.
Norias of Hama, Syria
These 20-meter wide water wheels were first documented in the 5th century, representing an ingenious early irrigation system. Seventeen of the wooden norias (a machine for lifting water into an aqueduct) survived to present day and became Hama's primary tourist attraction, noted for their groaning sounds as they turned. Heritage expertsdocumented several wheels being burned by fighters in 2014.
Citadel of Aleppo, Syria
The fortress spans at least four millennia, from the days of Alexander the Great, through Roman, Mongol, and Ottoman rule. The site has barely changed since the 16th century and is one of Syria's most popular World Heritage sites. The citadel has been used as an army base in recent fighting and several of its historic buildings have been destroyed.
Deir Ez-zor bridge, Syria
This French-built suspension bridge was a popular pedestrian crossing and vantage point for its views of the Euphrates River. It became a key supply line in a battle for the city, and collapsed under shelling. Deir Ez-zor's Siyasiyeh Bridge was also destroyed.
Crac des Chevaliers, Syria
The Crusader castle from the 11th century survived centuries of battles and natural disasters, becoming a World Heritage site in 2006 along with the adjacent castle of Qal'at Salah El-Din. The walls were severely damaged by regime airstrikes and artillery in 2013, and rebels took positions within it.

The nationalistic pride made them raise funds to restore Temple of St, Sava, the largest Eastern Orthodox church in the world, despite the relatively low standards of living. At the same time the ruins of the concrete edifices in the town center were (forever?) to bring memory of the 1999 NATO bombings.
I am aware that on a very short guided tour, you very much depend on what the guide will show and tell you. Ours not only emphasized her patriotic feelings, but also kept repeating how unfair the West had been to Serbia.
