Karachi

Karachi (Urdu: کراچی‎ / ALA-LC: Karācī IPA: [kəˈrɑːˌtʃi]) is the largest city of Pakistan and the capital of the province of Sindh as well as one of the largest and most populous metropolitan cities in the world. It is also the main seaport and financial center of the country. Karachi metro has an estimated population of over 23.5 million people as of 2013, and area of approximately 3,527 km² (1,362 sq mi), resulting in a density of more than 6,000 people per square kilometre (15,500 per square mile).

Karachi is the 7th largest urban agglomeration in the world, and the second largest in the Muslim world. It is Pakistan's centre of banking, industry, economic activity and trade and is home to Pakistan's largest corporations, including those involved in textiles, shipping, automotive industry, entertainment, the arts, fashion, advertising, publishing, software development and medical research. The city is a hub of higher education in South Asia and the Muslim world.

Karachi is also ranked as a beta world city. It was the capital of Pakistan until Islamabad was constructed as a capital to spread development evenly across the country and to prevent it from being concentrated in Karachi. Karachi is the location of the Port of Karachi and Port Bin Qasim, two of the region's largest and busiest ports. After the independence of Pakistan, the city population increased dramatically when hundreds of thousands of Muslim Muhajirs from India and from other parts of South Asia came to settle in Karachi.

Pakistan (ⁱ/ˈpækᵻstæn/ or ⁱ/pɑːkiˈstɑːn/; Urdu: پاكستان‎ ALA-LC: Pākistān, pronounced [pɑːkɪst̪ɑːn]), officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (Urdu: اسلامی جمہوریۂ پاكستان‎ ALA-LC: Islāmī Jumhūriyah Pākistān IPA: [ɪslɑːmiː d͡ʒʊmɦuːriəɪh pɑːkɪst̪ɑːn]), is a country in South Asia. It is the sixth-most populous country with a population exceeding 199 million people. It is the 36th largest country in the world in terms of area with an area covering 881,913 km² (340,509 sq mi). Pakistan has a 1,046-kilometre (650 mi) coastline along the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman in the south and is bordered by India to the east, Afghanistan to the west, Iran to the southwest and China in the far northeast respectively. It is separated from Tajikistan by Afghanistan's narrow Wakhan Corridor in the north, and also shares a maritime border with Oman.

The territory that now constitutes Pakistan was previously home to several ancient cultures, including the Mehrgarh of the Neolithic and the Bronze Age Indus Valley Civilisation, and was later home to kingdoms ruled by people of different faiths and cultures, including Hindus, Indo-Greeks, Muslims, Turco-Mongols, Afghans and Sikhs. The area has been ruled by numerous empires and dynasties, including the Indian Mauryan Empire, the Persian Achaemenid Empire, Alexander of Macedonia, the Arab Umayyad Caliphate, the Mongol Empire, the Mughal Empire, the Durrani Empire, the Sikh Empire and the British Empire. As a result of the Pakistan Movement led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the subcontinent's struggle for independence, Pakistan was created in 1947 as an independent nation for Muslims from the regions in the east and west of the Subcontinent where there was a Muslim majority. Initially a dominion, Pakistan adopted a new constitution in 1956, becoming an Islamic republic. A civil war in 1971 resulted in the secession of East Pakistan as the new country of Bangladesh.

Yasir Hussain

Yasir Hussain is a Pakistani theatre, film and television actor, VJ, playwriter and screenwriter from Islamabad best known for his role as "Moti" in 2015 film Karachi Se Lahore.

Early life and career

Yasir was born in Islamabad, Pakistan to a Muslim family. Yasir stated in an interview that his father wanted him to become an actor.
Yasir moved to Karachi to begin his career where became a VJ for Aag TV. He worked as a VJ for two years and then he joined a theatre where he started writing and acting in plays. He has written and acted in various plays and was apart of Anwar Maqsood's "Angan Terha", "Pawney 14 August" and "Sawa 14 August". Yasir made his Lollywood debut in the film Karachi Se Lahore written by himself and directed by Wajahat Rauf. He has also acted in television serials including sitcom Coke Kahani and drama serial Dareecha.Yasir will also appear in Karachi Se Lahore 2 which is sequel to Karachi Se Lahore and is expected to release on 10 September 2016. And Senti Aur Mental which is written and directed by Yasra Rizvi.

Wajahat Rauf

Wajahat Rauf is a Pakistani film director, producer, writer and actor from Karachi. His work as a filmmaker includes 2015 comedy road film Karachi Se Lahore. He has also won the Hum Award for Best Telefilm for his telefilm Main Kukkoo Aur woh.

Life and career

Wajahat was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He attended Greenwich University in Karachi then he moved to United States where he attended California State University in Fullerton. Wajahat came back to Pakistan and started his career as a filmmaker. He told in an interview that he decided to choose production because he had a love for movies since the age of seven. He has directed many drama serials including Shareek-e-Hayat and Jab We Wed Wajahat made his Lollywood debut in 2015 with a road film Karachi Se Lahore. He also made appearance in the film. Wajahat is also directing Karachi Se Lahore 2 which features Yasir Hussain in the lead cast and is expected to be released on 10 September 2015.

Ayesha Omer is a Pakistani actress, model and singer. She is known for her role as Khoobsurat in Bulbulay, Natasha in Ladies Park, Sara in Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Arzoo in Tanhai and Aleena in Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai.

In 2012, she released her first single "Chalte Chalte" and "Khamoshi" which, although a commercial success in Pakistan, was met with a mixed reaction from critics. Omer went on to win Lux Style Award for Best Album.

Omer started her career as a model. She has done many commercials such as Kurkure, Harpic, Capri, Pantene and Zong. Omer first hosted the show Meray Bachpan Kay Din on PTV at the age of eight. She then hosted Morning show Yeh Waqt Hai Mera on CNBC Pakistan, Rhythm on Prime TV and Hot chocolate on ARY Zauq.

Acting

Omer made her acting debut with serial College Jeans later she appeared in Geo TV serial Dolly Ki Ayegi Baraat opposite Bushra Ansari, Saba Hameed and Jawed Sheikh. Later she appeared on ARY Digital serial Bulbulay as Khoobsurat, opposite Hina Dilpazeer, Mehmood Aslam and Nabeel. Bulbulay become the most watched sitcom of Pakistan. Then she appeared in PTV serial Dil ko Manana Aya Nahi opposite Amanat Ali, Neelam Muneer and Nadia Hussain, Geo TV serial Ladies Park opposite Humayun Saeed, Azfar Rehman, Hina Dilpazeer and Mahnoor Baloch, Hum TV's serial Zindagi Gulzar Hai opposite Fawad Afzal Khan, Sanam Saeed, Mehreen Raheel and Tanhai opposite Azfar Rehman, Sohai Ali Abro and Goher Mumtaz. She is currently seen in Geo Kahani serial Soha or Savera opposite Sami Khan and Hum TV serial Woh Chaar opposite Maria Wasti, Savera Nadeem and Angeline Malik.
