Medina (/məˈdiːnə/; Arabic: المدينة المنورة, al-Madīnah al-Munawwarah, "the radiant city"; or المدينة, al-Madīnah, "the city"), also transliterated as Madīnah, is a city in the Hejaz, and the capital of the Al Madinah Region of Saudi Arabia. The city contains al-Masjid an-Nabawi ("the Prophet's Mosque"), which is the burial place of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and is the second-holiest city in Islam after Mecca.
Medina was Muhammad's destination after his Hijrah from Mecca, and became the capital of a rapidly increasing Muslim Empire, first under Muhammad's leadership, and then under the first four Rashidun caliphs, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali. It served as the power base of Islam in its first century where the early Muslim community developed. Medina is home to the three oldest mosques, namely the Quba Mosque, al-Masjid an-Nabawi, and Masjid al-Qiblatayn ("the mosque of the two qiblas"). Muslims believe that the chronologically final surahs of the Quran were revealed to Muhammad in Medina, and are called Medinan surahs in contrast to the earlier Meccan surahs.
A society is a group of people involved in persistent social interaction, or a large social grouping sharing the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations. Societies are characterized by patterns of relationships (social relations) between individuals who share a distinctive culture and institutions; a given society may be described as the sum total of such relationships among its constituent members. In the social sciences, a larger society often evinces stratification or dominance patterns in subgroups.
Insofar as it is collaborative, a society can enable its members to benefit in ways that would not otherwise be possible on an individual basis; both individual and social (common) benefits can thus be distinguished, or in many cases found to overlap.
A society can also consist of like-minded people governed by their own norms and values within a dominant, larger society. This is sometimes referred to as a subculture, a term used extensively within criminology.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali (Dutch: [aːˈjaːn ˈɦiːrsi ˈaːli], born Ayaan Hirsi Magan, on 13 November 1969) is a Dutch-American activist, author, and former politician of Somali origin. She opposes female genital mutilation and male circumcision she also calls for a reformation of Islam. She is supportive of women's rights and is an atheist. Her latest book was released in 2015 and is called: Heretic: Why Islam Needs a Reformation Now.
Hirsi Ali is the daughter of the Somali politician and opposition leader Hirsi Magan Isse. She and her family left Somalia in 1977 for Saudi Arabia, then Ethiopia, and later settled in Kenya. In 1992, Ali sought and obtained political asylum in the Netherlands. Following graduate work, she published articles on her political views and spoke in support of Muslim women becoming atheist.
In 2003, Hirsi Ali was elected a member of the House of Representatives (the lower house of the Dutch parliament), representing the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). A political crisis related to the validity of her Dutch citizenship led to her resignation from parliament, and indirectly to the fall of the second Balkenende cabinet in 2006.

CAN MUSLIMS RE-CLAIM THEIR RIGHTFUL PLACE AS A CIVILIZING FORCE? For Muslims the Quran is a source of such inherent power that those who follow the teachings will never be humiliated or defeated. Then why is it that Muslims throughout the world face many challenges and seem to be on trial every day to defend their faith and actions? Dr. Hasnain Walji explores some of the challenges Muslims face at the personal and communal level. The series explores the stages of development of a society and the impact of the world view of Tauhid on the development and progress of a society. The theme is based on the premise that a society that lacks the ability to adjust itself to changing times withers or dies. However strong and appealing the temptation to take refuge in familiar customs. To su...

Hundreds of Hajj pilgrims from the four corners of the world, such as Nigeria, Canada and Iraq took part in a conference in Medina to discuss issues related to Muslim women. One of the main topics on the agenda was western attempts to depict a negative picture of Muslim women. The participants in the conference underlined the need to improving women’s knowledge in Islamic societies in the face of western attempts to tarnish the image of Muslim women. M.A.P.S. investigation of the historical society. An investigator was alone in the kitchen, and after hearing a noise, announces it aloud. Something seems to talk or make noise as the investigator talks, and the spirit also seems to laugh a few seconds after.
We discuss Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s recent paper for the Hoover Institute, The Challenge of Dawa (http://hvr.co/2xLuz6e), her conceptualization of Mecca vs Medina Islam (roughly the distinction between peaceful and militarized/expansionist), and the possibility of rapprochement between Islam and the JudeoChristian world. We turn from that to the role the Saudis play in accommodating their radical Wahhabi clergy-- propagandizing and destabilizing Western and Islamic societies alike. Like Qatar, Kuwait and Iran, the Saudis are waging a long-term ideological war against the West, which we are too arrogant and too naïve to take seriously. We also discuss the failure of Western women to stand up and demand that the denial of women’s rights and restrictions of freedoms that characterize those count...
The Medina Sandstone Society dedicated a float in honor of the late Robert E. Waters in the 2015 Christmas Parade of Lights. "It's a Wonderful Life...in Medina" featured "The A-Team" (Andrew, Adam & Aaron) singing "No Place Like Medina", Mr. Water's anthem for his hometown pride, as well as the music from the final scene of "It's a Wonderful Life": Hark the Herald and Auld Lang Syne. Mr. Water's bowler hat and white gloves were displayed next to an empty chair. A vintage trunk with a gold spotlight shining out up represented the Medina Sandstone Trust that Mr. Waters founded. And the participants wore vintage styled attire, blinking boat hats and blinking red bow ties in honor of their former mentor and leader. The concept was derived from MSS council members Lynne Menz & Jake Hebdon. W...
How did the Prophet manage to maintain his power in Medina? By ruling with justice. Alhumdulilah Allah blessed me again to visit the city of RasoolAllah (saw) - Madina. This vlog is when I went on ZIyarah of Madina. We visited Masjid Qiblatain, Masjid Quba and Mount Uhud. My tip for Ziyarah in both Makkah & Madina would be to book it yourself. try and find a english/urdu speaking guide who will take you on the tour of Madina. This way you have your own time to do what you wish, to see the places, spend time observing these blessed places and not be rushed. In my experience the Ziyarah you get with your packages (from UK) are very rushed. The driver most of the time is Saudi and does not understand English or any other language so it is hard to communicate. The whole ziyarah is rushed and most of the time its in the Mini Van (esp in Makkah - where we were t...

Marrakesh is possibly the most important of Morocco's four former imperial cities (cities that were built by Moroccan Berber empires). The region has been inhabited by Berber farmers since Neolithic times, but the actual city was founded in 1062 by Abu Bakr ibn Umar, chieftain and cousin of Almoravid king Yusuf ibn Tashfin. Quantum Method Realization Course All of us would like to become Superman, or Insan-E-Kamel. We would like to transform suffering into joy, disease into health, and scarcity into prosperity. But very few of us know the natural law for creating spontaneous torrents of joy or creating a truly prosperous life. We want to be one with God, Allah, the Creator, or the Universal Life Force and surrender to Him. We want to pray, worship, or ibadat with devotion but we cannot. Yet throughout history, there have been prophets, rishis, sufis, monks and holy-men who were indeed supermen. They found the secret to ending suffering and creating lasting joy. With them, those suffering found relief, those lacking found prosperity, and those diseased found health. Often, pain evaporated with a single tou...

Hitting the souks is a rite of passage for any Marrakech visitor, but once you’re all haggled out, there’s another corner of town beckoning, just beyond the stalls. Kaât Bennahid might be one of Marrakech’s oldest neighbourhoods, but it’s had a superstylish growth spurt recently, with hip art galleries, chic riads and slick restaurants sprouting up, geared towards a fashionable set. Travel video about destination Córdoba in Spain. Cordoba was once the most important metropolis of the Caliphate and today is a city of harmony and contrast. It is a city in which the history of the Caliphs, Romans, Jews and Christians is still very much alive and was the centre of the Arab realm of Al-Andalus that reached its peak in around 1000 A.D.The Ponte Romana extends across the Gudalquivir and leads to the old town. With its sixteen arches the Roman bridge that spans across the river is one of the city’s main landmarks. The city’s most important building is the Mezquita Catedral in the centre of the old town. It is undoubtedly the most splendid mosque of Moorish Islamic origin on the Iberian Peninsula. Construction of the main mosque began in 785 A.D. during the rule of Abd-Ar-Rahm...
Assalamualaikum.. just wanna share with you how Medina and Mecca looks like and maybe someday you'd be inspired and have the chance to visit this beautiful holy place for muslims.. inshaallah Amin ❤️ I had such a wonderful time and created best memories in performing my Umrah with my family. We took our flight straight to Medina, spent most of our time at Masjidil Nabawi. I was in such an awe looking at the architecture, most of it was in golden details ✨ We were there for 4 days and I wish it was longer. Then, we took a bus for 6 hours ride to Mecca. All the men has to be in Ihram because we need to perform our Umrah straight away once we've reached Mecca. Alhamdulillah we managed to do 3 times of Umrah and a few more times of Tawaf Sunat. Couldn't get enough of just staring at Kaabah...

It's no wonder that tourists flock here — this humble town is the embodiment of almost every Moroccan cliché. The picturesque medina, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Rif Mountains, is filled with white-washed homes with distinctive, powder-blue accents, and the call to prayer rings out of several mosques around the town in chorus. If you've got a few days to relax from the rigors of travel, this is a good place to do it. Tourism in Chaouen is also driven by its reputation as centre of the marijuana plantations region ...
Travel video about destination Tripoli in Libya. Tripoli is the capital of the desert state of Libya. The old town is known as the Medina and with its narrow lanes and squat buildings it is a combination of Arabian, North African and Mediterranean cultures. The joie de vivre of the local people is obvious and music and dance are part of their daily life. In antiquity the city was called Oea that was one of the three cities of Tripolitania and in Roman times this section of the coast contained the trading towns of Leptis Magna and Sabratha. Since 1963 Tripoli has been the capital of the Great Socialist Libyan-Arab People’s Republic. The old town contains a souk that was almost fully abandoned following the Great Revolution as private trading was then forbidden but when the law was abolis...

Over the years, an exceptional amount of discoveries have been made, both archaeological as well as epigraphic, covering practically all aspects of daily life in New Kingdom Egypt. The site has delivered so many documents that many remain unpublished or under studied. For that reason, one might think this site has nothing more to offer or, at least, just a few residual shreds. The recent fieldwork, restarted under the impulse of a renewed team, has proven that this idea is far from true. It confirms that this site still has rich potent...
