My "ULTIMATE" Nikon Full Frame Lens Kit
I own a lot of NIKON lenses and wanted to share with you what I think makes up My "ULTIMATE" full frame lens kit.
Whether your own the Nikon D5, D4s, D4, D3s, Df, D810, D800, D750 or D610 these are the lenses I think make up the Ultimate Nikon Lens Kit.
If I was to travel the world and could only take a handful of lenses I would take the Hebrew Trinity plus one.
Nikon 14-24 2.8
Nikon 24-70 2.8 VR
Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR II
Nikon 300 F4 PF
With these three lenses I could shoot anything anywhere at any time. If I needed to do video or stills I would be covered from 14-300mm.
But if I could take more lenses I would add the Nikon 105 F1.4 which is an absolutely INSANE piece of glass.

Nikon VS Canon the Ultimate battle to decide which one you should buy. This is always the question that fills my inbox, "Which camera is better, Nikon or Canon?". I decided to put together a video that discusses all the FULL Frame models against their counterparts on both sides.
I want to point out that this time around it's just Nikon and Canon and in the future there will be other brands added to the battle.
The goal with this video is to put the cameras head to head and give you the pros and cons of each. It is up to you to decide which one is for you or not for you. I know this is not an easy decision so I hope this video helps you decide.
When you take a look at the current lineups as of Dec 2nd 2014 when this video was recorded you will notice that Nikon's is fresh and updated whereas Canon's is a little long in the tooth. That is not saying that one is better it's simply saying Nikon has updated their lineup more recently than Canon. Keep in mind this is a never ending cycle that one company will have newer cameras before the other.
I took a look at the Nikon D4s, Nikon D810, Nikon D750, Nikon D610 and on the Canon side the Canon 1D X, Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 6D and the Canon 7D Mark II.

Nikon D4 Release Video
It's here! The Nikon D4 has arrived and it is a freaking HOT camera! For the past months I have been working in silence with an amazingly talented crew and three of the best athletes on the planet producing my short D4 launch film "WHY". It was like Christmas morning when Nikon called and described the new camera and all of its incredible features. All I could think was that this is the camera we have been waiting for. Then the gift of all gifts... "Corey, dream up a film that you would like to shoot. You pick the topic. You pick the location. It's your film... only requirement is you show off the features of the new camera." My favorite quote from the call was "You have a blank white canvas and it's up to you to fill it". I had to pinch myself several times to confirm that the call was real. Everyone involved has been tight lipped about the project for months and today we can finally begin to share some of the assets and get fired up about the camera!!!
I have always been facinated by those people that are the best at what they do. Those that operate on the edge; scientists, artists, musicians, athletes, etc. Always the question that I find myself asking is "WHY"? What deep inside drives them? What does the world look like through their eyes? Those that live on the edge, push the envelope, redefine sports and industries operate in a space all to themselves. In my Nikon D4 launch film I wanted to visually portray the beauty and intensity of the athletes doing what they do best while also delving into their heads and answering the question "WHY"? There was a very simple list of criteria used when selecting the athletes for this film. 1. They needed to be the best in the world at what they do. 2. They needed to be true role modes / heros. (In short, no ego and just simply fantastic people). Dane, Rebecca and Alex fulfill the requirements in spades!
As it seems to be with many shoots, the schedule for WHY was INSANE! In just 13 days we went from Veracruz, Mexico to Moab, Utah to Joshua Tree, California. With a fantastic crew of eight amazingly talented people, three of the worlds best athletes, over 20 pieces of luggage, three D4 prototypes, an rc helicopter and enough RedBull and ClifBars to keep us awake and moving, the entire journey was epic! Huge days, little sleep, lost bags, crashed helicopter (the D4 lived), speeding tickets (talked our way out of both ;-), wicked mosquito bites, flu, and a trip to the urgent care - all the prerequisites for a great shoot. Just the way I like it!
Special thanks to everyone that helped on this production! Dane Henry, Shawn Corrigan, Rex Lint, Mike Hagadorn; you guys are studs! Blaine Deutsch and Marina Rich, thank you for keeping us all on track, organized, fed and looking good (and Marina, thanks for loving me and being the best wife in the world). Gen Umei, Soichi Hayashi, Jason Jenkins and Mike Corrado; thank you for the opportunity! Dane Jackson, Alex Honnold and Rebecca Rusch, you guys really made the film and answered the question WHY!!! Tommy Thompson and Chris McNamara; thanks for keeping us safe and getting me into the coolest camera positions possible! Amazing team and thank you everyone who helped!
When it is all said and done by far the most exciting part is the future. It's about the collective creativity and vision of the photo and video community and what we will all create when we get a D4 in our hands. One thing is for certain, WHY was just the tip of the iceberg!

Making of the Nikon D4 Release Video
I have often said, if I wasn't a filmmaker and photographer, I would be a teacher. There's great satisfaction in sharing knowledge & experience to help spark the creative fire in others.
When Nikon approached me to be a part of the D4 release project not only did they ask me to produce a video and stills, showing off the attributes of the new camera, they were also looking for a behind the scenes video spot detailing how "WHY" came together. This was an amazing opportunity, as it allowed me to simultaneously be both a filmmaker/photographer and a teacher. Though this meant everyone in the crew had to work twice as hard, especially Dane Henry. Capturing the action behind the scenes became just as important as the hero footage and stills. "HOW of WHY" is a great illustration of everyone's hard work and ability to multitask, plus proof that we all had a lot fun along the way!
In this spirit, now is a perfect opportunity to thank the key teachers that shared their knowledge with me. Thank you Bob Porter, George Egbert, James DuPratt, Jim McNay and Greg Lewis - I am forever grateful for the time you spent helping me to find my passion for adventure and storytelling.

The goal with this video is to put the cameras head to head and give you the pros and cons of each. It is up to you to decide which one is for you or not for you. Nikon D4 Release Video It's here! The Nikon D4 has arrived and it is a freaking HOT camera! For the past months I have been working in silence with an amazingly talented crew and three of the best athletes on the planet producing my short D4 launch film "WHY". It was like Christmas morning when Nikon called and described the new camera and all of its incredible features. All I could think was that this is the camera we have been waiting for. Then the gift of all gifts... "Corey, dream up a film that you would like to shoot. You pick the topic. You pick the location. It's your film... only requirement is you show off the features of the new camera." My favorite quote from the call was "You have a blank white canvas and it's up to you to fill it". I had to pinch myself several times to confirm that the call was real. Everyone involved has been tight lipped about the project for months and today we can finally begin to share some of the assets and get fired up about the camera!!! I have always been facinated by those people that are the best at what they do. Those that operate on the edge; scientists, artists, musicians, athletes, etc. Always the question that I find myself asking is "WHY"? What deep inside drives them? What does the world look like through their eyes? Those that live on the edge, push the envelope, redefine sports and industries operate in a space all to themselves. In my Nikon D4 launch film I wanted to visually portray the beauty and intensity of the athletes doing what they do best while also delving into their heads and answering the question "WHY"? There was a very simple list of criteria used when selecting the athletes for this film. 1. They needed to be the best in the world at what they do. 2. They needed to be true role modes / heros. (In short, no ego and just simply fantastic people). Dane, Rebecca and Alex fulfill the requirements in spades! As it seems to be with many shoots, the schedule for WHY was INSANE! In just 13 days we went from Veracruz, Mexico to Moab, Utah to Joshua Tree, California. With a fantastic crew of eight amazingly talented people, three of the worlds best athletes, over 20 pieces of luggage, three D4 prototypes, an rc helicopter and enough RedBull and ClifBars to keep us awake and moving, the entire journey was epic! Huge days, little sleep, lost bags, crashed helicopter (the D4 lived), speeding tickets (talked our way out of both ;-), wicked mosquito bites, flu, and a trip to the urgent care - all the prerequisites for a great shoot. Just the way I like it! Special thanks to everyone that helped on this production! Dane Henry, Shawn Corrigan, Rex Lint, Mike Hagadorn; you guys are studs! Blaine Deutsch and Marina Rich, thank you for keeping us all on track, organized, fed and looking good (and Marina, thanks for loving me and being the best wife in the world). Making of the Nikon D4 Release Video I have often said, if I wasn't a filmmaker and photographer, I would be a teacher. There's great satisfaction in sharing knowledge & experience to help spark the creative fire in others. When Nikon approached me to be a part of the D4 release project not only did they ask me to produce a video and stills, showing off the attributes of the new camera, they were also looking for a behind the scenes video spot detailing how "WHY" came together. This was an amazing opportunity, as it allowed me to simultaneously be both a filmmaker/photographer and a teacher. Though this meant everyone in the crew had to work twice as hard, especially Dane Henry. Capturing the action behind the scenes became just as important as the hero footage and stills. "HOW of WHY" is a great illustration of everyone's hard work and ability to multitask, plus proof that we all had a lot fun along the way! In this spirit, now is a perfect opportunity to thank the key teachers that shared their knowledge with me. About a year ago I received an intriguing email from Nikon Tokyo asking me if I would have the time to participate in a special project. Little idea did I have that a few months later I would have the honor to be the first photographer to shoot the new Nikon D600 in the field. From the beginning it was clear to me that I wanted to create a powerful video along with the images and asked my brother Salomon Schulz, who specializes in film-making, to be part of the team to create the official Nikon D600 Movie. Looking at the specs of the D600, we realized this was an extremely versatile camera. That is the reason why we wanted to test the camera shooting landscapes and wildlife, from the deserts of the South West to the mountains of Alaska, and that in winter time. For us photography is a passion that goes far beyond the technical aspects of a camera. It is about experiencing the natural world. In "CHASING THE LIGHT" we wanted to get the feeling across what it is like to head out into the wild to document the natural world. We wanted everybody who likes nature photography to see themselves in this film and say: It is about time I am getting out into the field again. I hope this film does this for you! My "ULTIMATE" Nikon Full Frame Lens Kit I own a lot of NIKON lenses and wanted to share with you what I think makes up My "ULTIMATE" full frame lens kit. Whether your own the Nikon D5, D4s, D4, D3s, Df, D810, D800, D750 or D610 these are the lenses I think make up the Ultimate Nikon Lens Kit. If I was to travel the world and could only take a handful of lenses I would take the Hebrew Trinity plus one. There's great satisfaction in sharing knowledge & experience to help spark the creative fire in others. When Nikon approached me to be a part of the D4 release project not only did they ask me to produce a video and stills, showing off the attributes of the new camera, they were also looking for a behind the scenes video spot detailing how "WHY" came together. About a year ago I received an intriguing email from Nikon Tokyo asking me if I would have the time to participate in a special project. Little idea did I have that a few months later I would have the honor to be the first photographer to shoot the new Nikon D600 in the field. From the beginning it was clear to me that I wanted to create a powerful video along with the images and asked my brother Salomon Schulz, who specializes in film-making, to be part of the team to create the official Nikon D600 Movie. Nikon v1 raw test
I made this video using the 30fps burst function on the Nikon 1 V1. The camera takes a maximun of 30 RAW pictures at 4k in 1 second (10fps and 60fps also available). I then developed the files in Adobe Camera Raw and exported them as tiff images. I opened each tiff burst from Premiere as a sequence and conformed them to 24fps, so i get 1:05 seconds clips. And that's it, 4k raw video on a 300€ camera. Quite limited use though. And longer workflow too. I own a lot of NIKON lenses and wanted to share with you what I think makes up My "ULTIMATE" full frame lens kit.
Whether your own the Nikon D5, D4s, D4, D3s, Df, D810, D800, D750 or D610 these are the lenses I think make up the Ultimate Nikon Lens Kit.
If I was to travel the world and could only take a handful of lenses I would take the Hebrew Trinity plus one.
Nikon 14-24 2.8
Nikon 24-70 2.8 VR
Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR II
Nikon 300 F4 PF
With these three lenses I could shoot anything anywhere at any time. If I needed to do video or stills I would be covered from 14-300mm.
But if I could take more lenses I would add the Nikon 105 F1.4 which is an absolutely INSANE piece of glass.

Nikon VS Canon the Ultimate battle to decide which one you should buy. This is always the question that fills my inbox, "Which camera is better, Nikon or Canon?". I decided to put together a video that discusses all the FULL Frame models against their counterparts on both sides.
I want to point out that this time around it's just Nikon and Canon and in the future there will be other brands added to the battle.
The goal with this video is to put the cameras head to head and give you the pros and cons of each. It is up to you to decide which one is for you or not for you. I know this is not an easy decision so I hope this video helps you decide.
When you take a look at the current lineups as of Dec 2nd 2014 when this video was recorded you will notice that Nikon's is fresh and updated whereas Canon's is a little long in the tooth. That is not saying that one is better it's simply saying Nikon has updated their lineup more recently than Canon. Keep in mind this is a never ending cycle that one company will have newer cameras before the other.
I took a look at the Nikon D4s, Nikon D810, Nikon D750, Nikon D610 and on the Canon side the Canon 1D X, Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 6D and the Canon 7D Mark II.

Nikon D4 Release Video
It's here! The Nikon D4 has arrived and it is a freaking HOT camera! For the past months I have been working in silence with an amazingly talented crew and three of the best athletes on the planet producing my short D4 launch film "WHY". It was like Christmas morning when Nikon called and described the new camera and all of its incredible features. All I could think was that this is the camera we have been waiting for. Then the gift of all gifts... "Corey, dream up a film that you would like to shoot. You pick the topic. You pick the location. It's your film... only requirement is you show off the features of the new camera." My favorite quote from the call was "You have a blank white canvas and it's up to you to fill it". I had to pinch myself several times to confirm that the call was real. Everyone involved has been tight lipped about the project for months and today we can finally begin to share some of the assets and get fired up about the camera!!!
I have always been facinated by those people that are the best at what they do. Those that operate on the edge; scientists, artists, musicians, athletes, etc. Always the question that I find myself asking is "WHY"? What deep inside drives them? What does the world look like through their eyes? Those that live on the edge, push the envelope, redefine sports and industries operate in a space all to themselves. In my Nikon D4 launch film I wanted to visually portray the beauty and intensity of the athletes doing what they do best while also delving into their heads and answering the question "WHY"? There was a very simple list of criteria used when selecting the athletes for this film. 1. They needed to be the best in the world at what they do. 2. They needed to be true role modes / heros. (In short, no ego and just simply fantastic people). Dane, Rebecca and Alex fulfill the requirements in spades!
As it seems to be with many shoots, the schedule for WHY was INSANE! In just 13 days we went from Veracruz, Mexico to Moab, Utah to Joshua Tree, California. With a fantastic crew of eight amazingly talented people, three of the worlds best athletes, over 20 pieces of luggage, three D4 prototypes, an rc helicopter and enough RedBull and ClifBars to keep us awake and moving, the entire journey was epic! Huge days, little sleep, lost bags, crashed helicopter (the D4 lived), speeding tickets (talked our way out of both ;-), wicked mosquito bites, flu, and a trip to the urgent care - all the prerequisites for a great shoot. Just the way I like it!
Special thanks to everyone that helped on this production! Dane Henry, Shawn Corrigan, Rex Lint, Mike Hagadorn; you guys are studs! Blaine Deutsch and Marina Rich, thank you for keeping us all on track, organized, fed and looking good (and Marina, thanks for loving me and being the best wife in the world). Gen Umei, Soichi Hayashi, Jason Jenkins and Mike Corrado; thank you for the opportunity! Dane Jackson, Alex Honnold and Rebecca Rusch, you guys really made the film and answered the question WHY!!! Tommy Thompson and Chris McNamara; thanks for keeping us safe and getting me into the coolest camera positions possible! Amazing team and thank you everyone who helped!
When it is all said and done by far the most exciting part is the future. It's about the collective creativity and vision of the photo and video community and what we will all create when we get a D4 in our hands. One thing is for certain, WHY was just the tip of the iceberg!

Making of the Nikon D4 Release Video
I have often said, if I wasn't a filmmaker and photographer, I would be a teacher. There's great satisfaction in sharing knowledge & experience to help spark the creative fire in others.
When Nikon approached me to be a part of the D4 release project not only did they ask me to produce a video and stills, showing off the attributes of the new camera, they were also looking for a behind the scenes video spot detailing how "WHY" came together. This was an amazing opportunity, as it allowed me to simultaneously be both a filmmaker/photographer and a teacher. Though this meant everyone in the crew had to work twice as hard, especially Dane Henry. Capturing the action behind the scenes became just as important as the hero footage and stills. "HOW of WHY" is a great illustration of everyone's hard work and ability to multitask, plus proof that we all had a lot fun along the way!
In this spirit, now is a perfect opportunity to thank the key teachers that shared their knowledge with me. Thank you Bob Porter, George Egbert, James DuPratt, Jim McNay and Greg Lewis - I am forever grateful for the time you spent helping me to find my passion for adventure and storytelling.

About a year ago I received an intriguing email from Nikon Tokyo asking me if I would have the time to participate in a special project. Little idea did I have that a few months later I would have the honor to be the first photographer to shoot the new Nikon D600 in the field. From the beginning it was clear to me that I wanted to create a powerful video along with the images and asked my brother Salomon Schulz, who specializes in film-making, to be part of the team to create the official Nikon D600 Movie.
Looking at the specs of the D600, we realized this was an extremely versatile camera. That is the reason why we wanted to test the camera shooting landscapes and wildlife, from the deserts of the South West to the mountains of Alaska, and that in winter time.
For us photography is a passion that goes far beyond the technical aspects of a camera. It is about experiencing the natural world.
In "CHASING THE LIGHT" we wanted to get the feeling across what it is like to head out into the wild to document the natural world. We wanted everybody who likes nature photography to see themselves in this film and say: It is about time I am getting out into the field again. I hope this film does this for you!

I made this video using the 30fps burst function on the Nikon 1 V1. The camera takes a maximun of 30 RAW pictures at 4k in 1 second (10fps and 60fps also available). I then developed the files in Adobe Camera Raw and exported them as tiff images. I opened each tiff burst from Premiere as a sequence and conformed them to 24fps, so i get 1:05 seconds clips.

I made this video using the 30fps burst function on the Nikon 1 V1. The camera takes a maximun of 30 RAW pictures at 4k in 1 second (10fps and 60fps also available). I then developed the files in Adobe Camera Raw and exported them as tiff images. I opened each tiff burst from Premiere as a sequence and conformed them to 24fps, so i get 1:05 seconds clips.
And that's it, 4k raw video on a 300€ camera. Quite limited use though. And longer workflow too.
