Taiwanese people (Chinese: 臺灣儂; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Tâi-oân-lâng; /Tai uan laŋ/; traditional Chinese: 臺灣人; simplified Chinese: 台湾人; pinyin: Táiwān rén; Wade–Giles: Thai2-wan1-jen2; /tʰaɪ wän ʐən/) are people from Taiwan who share a common Taiwanese culture and speak Chinese or Aboriginal languages as a mother tongue, made out of two ethnic groups, Han Chinese, who make up 98% of the population, and Aboriginals, who make up the remaining 2%. Taiwanese people may also refer to individuals who either claim or are imputed cultural identity focused on Taiwan or areas under the control of the Government of the Republic of China since 1945, including Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu islands (see Taiwan Area). At least three competing (occasionally overlapping) paradigms are used to identify someone as a Taiwanese person: nationalist criteria, self-identification (including the concept of "New Taiwanese") criteria, and socio-cultural criteria. These standards are fluid, and result from evolving social and political issues. The complexity resulting from competing and evolving standards is compounded by a larger dispute regarding Taiwan's identity, the political status of Taiwan, and its potential de jure Taiwan independence or political integration with China.
Hong Kong (香港; "Fragrant Harbour"), officially Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is an autonomous territory on the southern coast of China at the Pearl River Estuary and the South China Sea. Hong Kong is known for its skyline and deep natural harbour. It has a land area of 1104 km2 and shares its northern border with Guangdong Province of Mainland China. With around 7.2 million inhabitants of various nationalities, Hong Kong is one of the world's most densely populated metropolises.
After the First Opium War (1839–42), Hong Kong became a British colony with the perpetual cession of Hong Kong Island, followed by Kowloon Peninsula in 1860 and a 99-year lease of the New Territories from 1898. Hong Kong remained under British control for about a century until the Second World War, when Japan occupied the colony from December 1941 to August 1945. After the Surrender of Japan, the British resumed control. In the 1980s, negotiations between the United Kingdom and the China resulted in the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration, which provided for the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong on 30 June 1997. The territory became a special administrative region of China with a high degree of autonomy on 1 July 1997 under the principle of one country, two systems. Disputes over the perceived misapplication of this principle have contributed to popular protests, including the 2014 Umbrella Revolution.

Taiwan (i/ˌtaɪˈwɑːn/; Chinese: 臺灣 or 台灣; see below), officially the Republic of China (ROC; Chinese: 中華民國; pinyin: Zhōnghuá Mínguó), is a sovereign state in East Asia. The Republic of China, originally based in mainland China, now governs the island of Taiwan, which constitutes more than 99% of its territory, as well as Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, and other minor islands, following its loss of the mainland China territory in 1949 in the Chinese Civil War. This remaining area is also constitutionally called the "Free area of the Republic of China" which is not ruled by the Communist Party of China in Beijing.
Neighboring states include the People's Republic of China (PRC) to the west (mainland China), Japan to the east and northeast, and the Philippines to the south. Taiwan is one of the most densely populated countries in the world with a population density of 649 people per km2 in October 2015.Taipei is the seat of the central government, and together with the surrounding cities of New Taipei and Keelung forms the largest metropolitan area on the island.
Taiwanese may refer to:
White Eyes, named Koquethagechton (c. 1730 – 5 November 1778), was a leader of the Lenape (Delaware) people in the Ohio Country during the era of the American Revolution. Sometimes known as George White Eyes, or Captain Grey Eyes al. Sir William, his given name in Lenape was rendered in many spelling variations in colonial records.
By 1773 he was Speaker of the Delaware Head Council and known as one of the most important councilors. White Eyes was a war chief and a tireless mediator in turbulent times, negotiating the first Indian treaties with the fledgling United States, and always working toward his ultimate of goal of establishing a secure Indian territory. His murder by an American militia officer is believed to have been covered up by United States officials.
Nothing is known about the early life of Koquethagechton. Likely born in present-day Pennsylvania, he was first noted in the English colonial record near the end of the Seven Years' War (French and Indian War), as a messenger during treaty negotiations. He appeared to be considered well suited for interaction between Indians and whites, although he could not read or write, and probably did not speak English—at least not well.

Mazu was originally Lin Moniang, who, according to one version of this legend, died at age 16 of exhaustion after swimming far into the ocean trying to find her lost father and that her corpse later washed ashore in Nankan Island of the Matsu Islands. After her death, the families of many fishermen and sailors began to pray to her in honor of her acts of courage in trying to save those at sea. Her worship spread quickly. Much of her popularity in comparison to other sea deities resulted from her role as a compassionate motherly protector. Initially, Mazu just blessed the sea for fishermen. But as time went by, people prayed to her for health, career, farming, relationship, and all sorts of concerns. She has become a guardian angel for Taiwanese people. Being loyal and connected to the family oriented channel, akin to having wind blowing to your face, as the entertainment is being presented to you. Feel the wind, and thus a icon of a Chinese PINWHEEL is created as the logo. A carefree symbol , basking in the wind, and its environments. CRITICA created channel styl...

Taiwan is such a beautiful country. Every corner of the streets was clean; trashes were hardly to be seen. The people were also super friendly and helpful. There's no greater hosts than Taiwanese people. They'd make sure our stomachs were never empty and our mouths never got dry. We wished we could have been better guests, eaten more, and slept less. As much as I enjoyed the country, it's the people and our friendships that I will miss the most. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. Love.

The “Long Vacation” is the record of Dr. Noordhoff’s medical contribution to Taiwanese society, which made the solid foundation of the miraculous medical development in Taiwan. He sees Taiwanese people as his family, then the people treated him as their most precious person in their whole lives. CHINA vs USA - Empires at War Documentary. Is a war between China and the United States imminent? According to the documentary China vs. USA: Empire at War, mounting evidence suggests that the U.S. may be in secret preparations for such a conflict. In a post-9/11 world, America has waged a multitude of military campaigns against terrorist organizations and the individuals and governments that harbor them. But the film claims that the threats posed by China take an even higher priority for those who operate in the halls of power in Washington. At the center of it all is Taiwan, an island nation located less than 200 miles off China's coast. Many Chinese citizens believe that Taiwan is a rightful part of their country, but the Taiwanese people disagree. Itching to assert itself as a world ...
