Harshdeep Kaur is an Indian playback singer known for her Sufi songs. After winning the titles in two talent reality shows, Kaur established herself as a lead singer in Bollywood soundtracks.

Biography

Harshdeep Kaur was born on 16 December in a Sikh family in Delhi and inherited music from her father, Savinder Singh, who owns a factory of musical instruments. She attended Springdales School, Pusa Road in Delhi. Apart from studying, she started learning music at the age of six. She learnt Indian Classical Music from Mr. Tejpal Singh, popularly known as the Singh Brothers, and Western Classical Music from George Pullinkala, Delhi Music Theatre. Later, at the age of twelve, to explore the world of music, she joined the Delhi School of Music to learn piano. She is famous for her Sufi genre songs. On 20 March 2015, Harshdeep tied the knot with her friend Mankeet Singh.

She has performed with some of the leading music directors (including A R Rahman, Amit Trivedi,Pritam Chakroborty, Vishal-Shekhar,Salim Suleiman) as well as on some notable Bollywood songs in the 21st century. These include Katiya Karun from Rockstar, Heer from Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Bari Barsi from Band Baaja Baaraat, Kabira from Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Ik Onkar from Rang De Basanti and many more.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Jab Tak Hai Jaan (English: As Long as I Live, literally "as long, or as far, as there is life") is a 2012 Indian romantic drama film directed by Yash Chopra and written and produced by Aditya Chopra under their production banner, Yash Raj Films. It features Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in lead roles. The movie is the first collaboration between Khan and Kaif, and the second between Khan and Sharma (they previously featured in the 2008 film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi). Yash Chopra returned to directing eight years after Veer-Zaara. This was to be his final film before his death in October 2012, at age 80. The background score and soundtrack was composed by A.R. Rahman, with lyrics from Gulzar.

Set in London, England, Jab Tak Hai Jaan tells the story of Akira Rai (Sharma), an ambitious, hardworking intern at the Discovery Channel. Akira finds the diary of Samar Anand (Khan), a bomb-disposal expert. The diary recounts Samar's time as a struggling immigrant to London, and later details his whirlwind romance with Meera Thapar (Kaif). The film was released during the six-day Diwali weekend beginning on 13 November 2012. The movie received positive-to-mixed reviews from critics in India and positive reviews overseas. It opened well at the box office, and Box Office India declared the film a "hit" in India and a "blockbuster" overseas.Jab Tak Hai Jaan emerged as the third-highest-grossing Bollywood film overseas at that time, after 3 Idiots and My Name Is Khan (2010).

The Voice (Indian TV series)

The Voice is an Indian singing reality talent show, based on the original Dutch version of the program created by John de Mol and is part of a wider international franchise. The show, hosted by Karan Tacker, and Meet Jain (backstage), airs on &TV and is produced by Endemol India. The show's coaches include leading Bollywood singers Himesh Reshammiya, Mika Singh, Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan. The auditions for the series was shot in March 2015, and it premiered on June 6, 2015. It is broadcast on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:00 PM IST. The season 1 of the show was won by Pawandeep Rajan, who was coached by Shaan.

The Voice India

The series consists of three phases: a Blind Audition, a Battle Phase and Live Performance shows. Four coaches, all famous musicians, choose teams of contestants through a blind audition process. Each coach has the length of the auditioner's performance (about 90 seconds) to decide if he or she wants that singer on his or her team; if two or more coaches want the same singer, then the singer gets to choose their coach.
