Ugly (Sugababes song)

"Ugly" is a song by British girl group Sugababes from their fourth studio album, Taller in More Ways (2005). Written and produced by Dallas Austin, inspiration for the song was conceptualised in the midst of reading negative comments about members of the band. The song released on 5 December 2005 in the United Kingdom as the second single from the album. "Ugly" is a midtempo pop song that contains lyrics about personality and body-image issues. It received comparisons to "Unpretty" by girl group TLC and "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. Ugly is the band's final single released under the second line up of Sugababes, after original member Mutya Buena departed the group in December 2005.

"Ugly" garnered positive reviews from music critics, many of whom praised the emotional and empowering concept behind it. The song peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart. It achieved international commercial success, where it reached the top five in Denmark and New Zealand, and the top-ten the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands and Norway. The song's accompanying music video is set in a warehouse in New York City, and features people of different ages and races showcasing their talents. The Sugababes have performed the song at the V Festival in both 2006 and 2008, and at the Indig02 in London, all of which received positive reviews from critics. "Ugly" has been used in schools within Wales to promote diversity and eliminate prejudice.

2NE1 (2011 EP)

2NE1 is the second extended play of South Korean girl group 2NE1 was released on July 28, 2011, by YG Entertainment in distribution by KMP Holdings in South Korea. It contains six songs composed and produced by Korean producers Teddy Park and Kush. The Japanese version of the EP titled Nolza (stylized as NOLZA) was released in Japan on September 21, 2011 in three editions: CD Only, CD+DVD (Type A) and CD+DVD (Type B). Five of the six tracks were released as official digital singles. "Don't Stop the Music" was initially released as commercial feature single "Don't Stop the Music (Yamaha "Fiore" CF Theme Song)".

This album was declared as the Best Album of 2011 in the 3rd MelOn Music Awards.

Development and background

On April 18, 2011, 2NE1 announced they would postpone their debut to Japan due to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami and would resume Korean release plans, pushing their extended play's promotions forward, from April to July.

Plans for the album's promotions were later released on YG Life's blog on April 27, 2011, where the group stated that they we will be releasing a new single every three weeks leading up to the album's release. The group stated that the reason behind this plan was because they were more than satisfied with the level of quality in the album's tracklist and intended to use them all as title tracks for this promotion . The promotions of the album ended in August 21, on SBS's "Inkigayo".

Ugly (Jon Bon Jovi song)

"Ugly" is a song by Jon Bon Jovi that was the final single released in 1998 from his second solo album, Destination Anywhere. The song features a music video which was released on the DVD Destination Anywhere: The Film.

Main sequence

In astronomy, the main sequence is a continuous and distinctive band of stars that appears on plots of stellar color versus brightness. These color-magnitude plots are known as Hertzsprung–Russell diagrams after their co-developers, Ejnar Hertzsprung and Henry Norris Russell. Stars on this band are known as main-sequence stars or "dwarf" stars.

After a star has formed, it generates thermal energy in the dense core region through the nuclear fusion of hydrogen atoms into helium. During this stage of the star's lifetime, it is located along the main sequence at a position determined primarily by its mass, but also based upon its chemical composition and other factors. All main-sequence stars are in hydrostatic equilibrium, where outward thermal pressure from the hot core is balanced by the inward pressure of gravitational collapse from the overlying layers. The strong dependence of the rate of energy generation in the core on the temperature and pressure helps to sustain this balance. Energy generated at the core makes its way to the surface and is radiated away at the photosphere. The energy is carried by either radiation or convection, with the latter occurring in regions with steeper temperature gradients, higher opacity or both.

Dwarf (Dungeons & Dragons)

A dwarf, in the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) fantasy roleplaying game, is a humanoid race, one of the primary races available for player characters. The idea for the D&D dwarf comes from European mythologies and J. R. R. Tolkien's novel The Lord of the Rings (1954-1955), and has been used in D&D and its predecessor Chainmail since the early 1970s. Variations from the standard dwarf archetype of a short and stout demihuman are commonly called subraces, of which there are more than a dozen across many different rule sets and campaign settings.

History

The concept of the dwarf comes from Norse and Teutonic mythology. In particular, the dwarves in the Germanic story The Ring of the Nibelungen and the Brothers Grimm fairy tale "Rumpelstiltskin" have been called "ancestors" of Dungeons & Dragons dwarves. Along with giants, dwarves were one of the first types of non-humans to be introduced into the Chainmail game, the forebear of D&D, when miniature figures of varying sizes were used together in the same wargame.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Japanese: ゼルダの伝説 スカイウォードソード, Hepburn: Zeruda no Densetsu: Sukaiwōdo Sōdo) is an action-adventure game for the Wii video game console and the sixteenth entry in the Legend of Zelda series. Developed by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development and published by Nintendo, it was released worldwide in November 2011. The game makes use of the Wii MotionPlus peripheral for sword fighting, with a revised Wii Remote pointing system used for targeting. A limited-edition bundle featuring a golden Wii Remote Plus was sold coinciding with the game's launch; the first run of both the standard game and the limited-edition bundle included a CD containing orchestrated tracks of iconic music from the franchise in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

The game's storyline is the earliest in the Zelda continuity, preceding The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap.Skyward Sword follows an incarnation of the series' chief protagonist, Link, who was raised in a society above the clouds known as Skyloft. After his closest childhood friend, Zelda, is swept into the land below the clouds by demonic forces, Link does whatever it takes to save her, traveling between Skyloft and the surface below while battling the dark forces of the self-proclaimed "Demon Lord", Ghirahim.
