Wardak, Afghanistan -- During a BDA (Battle Damage Assessment) patrol to assess enemy KIA after 4 A-10 gun runs, Afghan forces engage Taliban fighters on a motorcycle. The initial engagement sparks a firefight that lasts 2 hours where over 3,000 rounds, 4 60mm mortars, and 4 Carl Gustav rounds are spent. There were no friendly casualties during this engagement.
The loud snapping sounds heard at the start of the video are caused by 7.62mm rounds flying overhead.

No rounds penetrated his body armor, and he made it home with no permanent injuries. This happened in Kunar Province, Afghanistan.

" I got a hit a total of 4 times. My helmet cam died and i made it down the mountain on my own. I was also hit in the side of my helmet and my eye pro was shot off of my face. We were doing overwatch on the village to recon and gather intel. I was point heading down the face of the hill with the LT. when we got hit. the rest of the squad was pinned down by machine gun fire. I didn't start the video until a few mins into the firefight for obvious reasons. I came out into the open to draw fire so my squad could get to safety."
"A round struck the tube by my hand of the 203 grenade launcher which knocked it out of my hands. When I picked the rifle back up it was still functional but the grenade launcher tube had a nice sized 7.62 cal bullet hole in it and was rendered useless. "

HAWIJA, IRAQ — One U.S. soldier was killed during a "boots on the ground" raid in support of Kurdish commandos in northern Iraq.
The U.S. Delta Force, supporting Kurdish Peshmerga troops, stormed an ISIS compound near the town of Hawija in northern Iraq early Thursday. The raid freed 70 prisoners, including more than 20 from the Iraqi security force. Five ISIS militants were captured while several were killed during the raid. A U.S. soldier was wounded when U.S. forces entered the compound, he later died from his wounds, Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said in a press conference.
A senior Defense Department official said five American helicopters were involved, including Chinooks and Blackhawks.
Kurdish forces had requested aid from the American military when they had learned that the hostages were facing "imminent mass execution."
"In this support role, we're allowed to defend ourselves and defend partner forces and protect against the loss of innocent lives," Cook said in the press conference. "And that's what played out in this particular mission."
The Pentagon has assured the public that U.S. forces are not in active combat mission in Iraq during the press conference on the raid. However, some are wondering whether the the promise not to get involved in direct combat has been broken, reported CNN.
U.S. and Kurdish officials have declared the raid as a success despite the loss of life. Three or four Kurdish troops were also injured in the operation, said officials. This was the first U.S. soldier killed in combat since President Barack Obama pulled the troops out of Iraq in 2011.

United States Armed Forces
The United States Armed Forces are the federal military forces of the United States. They consist of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Playing dead, he initially avoids capture and then is joined by a small band of survivors who retreat deep into the jungle. There, he as the highest ranking officer still alive will take command of the surviving 46 soldiers and 200 plus Japanese civilians now in his care who will evade the Marines and conduct a hit and run Guerrilla War long after the Americans declare the island secured in American hands. Enraged by Oba's resistance, the temperamental USMC Commander Colonel Pollard (Daniel Baldwin) launches an all out effort to hunt the man the Marines have dubbed "The Fox" of the Pacific. Failing to Capture Oba, Pollard is sacked and replaced by the mild mannered Colonel Wessinger (Treat Williams) who decides to take a rational less aggressive approach by deploying Captain Lewis (Sean McGowan) who lived in Japan and was both fluent in Japanese language and Culture to go reason with Oba and convince him to surrender. Based on the real life exploits of Captain Oba Sakae, Oba - The Last Samurai tells the incredible true story of one man who found the courage to live defying both the Bushido of the day and the overwhelming US Forces for over 512 days raiding US bases for supplies while evading capture well past the Japanese Surrender and into history.

The raid freed 70 prisoners, including more than 20 from the Iraqi security force. Five ISIS militants were captured while several were killed during the raid. A U.S. soldier was wounded when U.S. forces entered the compound, he later died from his wounds, Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said in a press conference.
A senior Defense Department official said five American helicopters were involved, including Chinooks and Blackhawks.
Kurdish forces had requested aid from the American military when they had learned that the hostages were facing "imminent mass execution."
"In this support role, we're allowed to defend ourselves and defend partner forces and protect against the loss of innocent lives," Cook said in the press conference. "And that's what played out in this particular mission."
The Pentagon has assured the public that U.S. forces are not in active combat mission in Iraq during the press conference on the raid. However, some are wondering whether the the promise not to get involved in direct combat has been broken, reported CNN.
U.S. and Kurdish officials have declared the raid as a success despite the loss of life. Three or four Kurdish troops were also injured in the operation, said officials. This was the first U.S. soldier killed in combat since President Barack Obama pulled the troops out of Iraq in 2011.

The two French journalists Michel Scott and Gilles Parrot followed a troop of 14 soldiers of the U.S. army in Kandahar in an expedition against the enemy fighting Taliban.
In their progression soldiers are aware that landmines (IED) are arranged around in the sandy soil.
While one of the troops positioned in a bank to monitor lookouts, Sergeant Allen walk a few meters from the journalist on one of these killer mines. After an insane explosion military collapses to the ground shouting "Help !" the camera always shoots behind a thick cloud of dust leaves appear the horror of war. Sergeant Allen has both legs and arms torn to shreds ...
Always in front of the goal french TV relief are organized with a first time installation of tourniquets and morphine injection. The rescue helicopter arrived ten minutes later to evacuate Sergeant Allen.
Sergeant Allen survive his injuries but has been amputated both his legs.

From its formation in 1775, the United States Army has been the primary land based portion of the United States military. The Army's primary responsibility has been the fighting of land battles and military occupation. The Corps of Engineers has a major role in controlling rivers. It was founded in response to a need for professional soldiery in the American Revolutionary War in order to fight the invading British Army. The Army was quite small in peacetime down to the 1940s. The Air Force became practically independent in World War II, and completely so in 1947. The Army was under the control of the War Department until 1947, and the Defense Department since then. The U.S. Army fought the War of 1812 (1812–15), American Civil War (1861–65), Spanish-American War (1898), World War I (1917–18), World War II (1941–45), Korean War (1950–53) and Vietnam War (1965–71). After the Cold War ended in 1991, the Army has focused on insurgencies in the Middle East, such as the Gulf War, and the recent War in Iraq and the War in Afghanistan.
When the American Revolutionary War began in April 1775, the colonial revolutionaries did not have an army. Previously, each colony had relied upon the militia, made up of part-time citizen-soldiers. The initial orders from Congress authorized ten companies of riflemen. The first full regiment of Regular Army infantry, the 3rd Infantry Regiment was not formed until June 1784. After the war the Continental Army was quickly disbanded as part of the American distrust of standing armies, and irregular state militias became the new nation's sole ground army, with the exception of a regiment to guard the Western Frontier and one battery of artillery guarding West Point's arsenal.
The War of 1812, an invasion of Canada failed, and U.S. troops were unable to stop the British from burning the new capital of Washington, D.C.. However, the Regular Army, under Generals Winfield Scott and Jacob Brown, proved they were professional and capable of defeating a major invasion by the regular British army in the Niagara campaign of 1814. Between 1815 and 1860, the main role of the Army was control of Indians in the West, and manning coast artillery stations at major ports. The U.S. used regular units and many volunteer units to fight Mexico, 1846–48. At the outset of the American Civil War the regular U.S. army was small and generally assigned to defend the nation's frontiers from attacks by Native Americans. Following the Civil War, the U.S. Army fought a long battle with Native Americans, who resisted U.S. expansion into the center of the continent.

We all do stupid things when we’re drunk, but among bad decisions, this one deserves special distinction: on the night of January 4, 1965, U.S. Army Sergeant Charles Robert Jenkins pounded 10 beers, deserted his infantry company at the edge of the Korean Demilitarized Zone, walked alone across a minefield, and defected to North Korea. He was thrown into a chilly, spartan house (he tried, unsuccessfully, to leave) and forced to study the works of the North Korean dictator Kim Il Sung for 11 hours every day. By 1972, he could recite Kim’s core principles by heart in Korean. That year, he was forcibly naturalized as a North Korean citizen. He went on to work as an English teacher, a translator, and an actor, under 24-hour surveillance and conditions of near-starvation.
All told, Jenkins would spend nearly 40 years in North Korea, a state that he says bred foreigners like animals, for the purpose of recruiting their ethnically ambiguous offspring for espionage. He himself had two daughters by Hitomi Soga, a Japanese woman whom North Korean agents kidnapped in 1978, apparently to enslave her as a teacher of Japanese language and customs for North Korean spies. Soga, who is 19 years Jenkins’s junior, was freed in 2002 when Kim Jong Il attempted détente with Japan. Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi personally ensured that Jenkins and their daughters, Mika and Brinda, now 30 and 28, could join her. After Jenkins finally left North Korea in 2004, at age 64, the U.S. Army threw him in the stockade for 24 days and discharged him dishonorably. But since then he has lived a quiet life on Sado, his wife’s home island, a speck in the Sea of Japan that has served historically as a Japanese Elba, a secluded site for the exile of political undesirables.
When I met Jenkins, his top priority was to sell me senbei, light-brown honey-flavored crackers. He is employed by a historical museum, where he wears a yellow kimono-like jacket called a happi and hawks cracker boxes to tourists in the gift shop. “You must be Mr. Jenkins,” I said to him, and he responded affirmatively in a hillbilly drawl, a legacy of his dirt-poor childhood in rural North Carolina. Like the Japanese tourists who flock to see him, I found his diminutive, jug-eared appearance endearing, and bought a box of crackers immediately. A minute later, he told me he’d sent a box of senbei to his military lawyer, a Texan. “He told me it was the awfulest cookie he ever tasted,” Jenkins said.
The Japanese consider Jenkins and Soga’s story a great modern romance: two people find love under Orwellian conditions, and through mutual devotion win their freedom. When visitors stroll into the shop, they whisper to each other (“Jenkins-san!”) and stare at Jenkins until he beckons them to pose for a picture. “Photo” is one of the few words he knows in Japanese—he speaks Korean at home.
That Tuesday, his day off, Jenkins drove me around the island, which, like much of rural Japan, is beautifully manicured and eerily vacant, its tidy alleys prowled by well-fed cats. He and Soga live with their daughters near the very alley where, more than three decades ago, Soga was snatched by North Korean agents. North Korea is never far from his mind: if you mention juche—the infamous pillar of North Korean ideology—in his presence, his eyes instantly glaze over as he lapses into a robotic Korean recitation of its principles, memorized syllable by compulsory syllable in the 1960s and ’70s.
Come lunchtime, we stopped at a local restaurant for pizza (easily the worst I have ever had, but after years of weevil-infested rice rations, Jenkins savors any taste of America). As we ate, I posed various questions that a Japanese journalist had told me everyone in Tokyo longed to ask: Was North Korea’s new ruler, Kim Jong Un—the third son of the late bouffant strongman Kim Jong Il—plotting war on Japan? Were there more abductees? Did Jenkins have more secrets?
About Kim Jong Un, Jenkins could offer little insight. No one had ever heard of him before a few years ago, Jenkins said, and the speed of his ascent—he is thought to be just 29 or 30; no one knows for sure—makes Jenkins suspect that he is a puppet of the military leadership. When I asked how Jenkins could know anything about the inner workings of the North Korean military, he said that he had worked at the military university, and as a white man he’d been, oddly enough, highly trusted, because he was too conspicuous to have any hope of escaping the country. “We trust Jenkins more than we trust you!” he recalls one general saying to a military visitor. (Jenkins added that he had only once been in the same room with the Great Leader, Kim Il Sung, who snorted disapproval at Jenkins’s Korean dress and ordered him and other Westerners to never again sully Korean clothing. Jenkins wore a suit and tie thereafter.)
