SELENE , better known in Japan by its nickname Kaguya, was the second Japanese lunar orbiter spacecraft following the Hiten probe]
Produced by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) and the National Space Development Agency (NASDA), the spacecraft was launched on September 14, 2007. After successfully orbiting the Moon for a year and eight months, the main orbiter was instructed to impact on the lunar surface near the crater Gill on June 10, 2009.[2]

Une nuit sans lune : Boat People, 40 ans après est un documentaire long métrage qui retrace le parcours vers la liberté de réfugiés vietnamiens qui ont fui leur patrie après les événements tragiques du 30 avril 1975 quand le régime totalitaire communiste du Nord a renversé le gouvernement démocratique du Sud-Vietnam. À travers de vibrants témoignages, le film fait revivre le parcours par la mer, et parfois par la terre, d’hommes, de femmes et de leurs enfants, prêts à tout pour trouver une vie juste et digne.
Après être passés par les camps de réfugiés de l’Asie du Sud-Est puis avoir fait un bref séjour à la base militaire de Longue-Pointe dans l’est de Montréal, découvrons comment, 40 ans plus tard, ces êtres exceptionnels ont su à force de courage et de résilience réussir leur intégration à la société québécoise et canadienne.
Parmi les personnalités ayant participé au documentaire, mentionnons l’auteure à success Kim Thúy, le Sénateur canadien Thanh Hai Ngo ainsi que le musician traditionnel vietnamien Duc Thanh Pham reconnu mondialement. Le grand chanteur africain Tiken Jah Fakoly a également eu la grâce de permettre l’utilisation de sa chanson “Ouvrez les frontières” pour le générique de fin.
Une nuit sans lune (86 minutes) est produit par UniActio, un organisme à but non lucratif en collaboration avec Les Films de L’Hydre, une société de production montréalaise indépendante, grâce à une commandite de la Banque Nationale.
Les entrevues et la recherche ont été menées par Thi Be Nguyen, elle-même réfugiée Boat People, arrivée au Canada à l’âge de 4 ans. La caméra, le son et le montage ont été réalisés par Marie-Hélène Panisset, qui, après avoir signé plusieurs films de danse et un long métrage de fiction, signe ici son premier long métrage documentaire.

A Moonless Night: Boat people, 40 years later is a documentary feature film that traces the journey to freedom of Vietnamese refugees who fled their homeland after the tragic events of April 30 1975 when the totalitarian communist regime from the North took over the democratic government from South Vietnam. A series of vibrant testimonies takes us through the escape by sea and sometimes land of men, women, and their children, who were ready to risk everything in order to find a life worth living.
After having stayed in refugee camps in South-East Asia, and gone through a short stay at military base Longue-Pointe in the East of Montreal, discover how these exceptional beings managed to succeed their integration through determination and resilience to Canadian life.
Among those participating in the documentary are world renown novelist Kim
Thúy, Canadian Senator Thanh Hao Ngo and internationally acclaimed Vietnamese traditional musician Duc Thanh Pham. The great Tiken Jah Fakoly, master of African contemporary music also did us the grace of lending his song “Ouvrez les frontières” for the end-credits.
A Moonless Night (86 minutes) is produced by UniAction, a not-for-profit organization, in collaboration with independent montreal-based film production company Les Films de L’Hydre, and thanks to a sponsorship by the National Bank.
Interviews and research were conducted by Thi Be Nguyen, who is herself a Vietnamese Refugee, having arrived in Canada when she war 4 years old. Camerawork, sound and editing were all performed by Marie-Hélène Panisset who, after having directed a few dance films and co-directed a dramatic feature film, signs here her first documentary feature film.

Moon landing
A Moon landing is the arrival of a spacecraft on the surface of the Moon. This includes both manned and unmanned (robotic) missions. The first human-made object to reach the surface of the Moon was the Soviet Union's Luna 2 mission, on 13 September 1959.
The United States' Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon, on 20 July 1969. There have been six manned U.S. landings (between 1969 and 1972) and numerous unmanned landings, with no soft landings happening from 22 August 1976 until 14 December 2013.
To date, the United States is the only country to have successfully conducted manned missions to the Moon, with the last departing the lunar surface in December, 1972.
Unmanned landings
After the unsuccessful attempt by the Luna 1 to land on the moon in 1959, the Soviet Union performed the first hard (unpowered) moon landing later that same year with the Luna 2 spacecraft, a feat the U.S. duplicated in 1962 with Ranger 4. Since then, twelve Soviet and U.S. spacecraft have used braking rockets to make soft landings and perform scientific operations on the lunar surface, between 1966 and 1976. In 1966 the USSR accomplished the first soft landings and took the first pictures from the lunar surface during the Luna 9 and Luna 13 missions. The U.S. followed with five unmanned Surveyor soft landings.

Neil Armstrong
Neil Alden Armstrong (August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012) was an American astronaut and the first person to walk on the Moon. He was also an aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor. Before becoming an astronaut, Armstrong was an officer in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. After the war, he earned his bachelor's degree at Purdue University and served as a test pilot at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) High-Speed Flight Station, where he logged over 900 flights. He later completed graduate studies at the University of Southern California.
A participant in the U.S. Air Force's Man in Space Soonest and X-20 Dyna-Soar human spaceflight programs, Armstrong joined the NASA Astronaut Corps in 1962. He made his first space flight as command pilot of Gemini 8 in March 1966, becoming NASA's first civilian astronaut to fly in space. He performed the first docking of two spacecraft, with pilot David Scott. This mission was aborted after Armstrong used some of his reentry control fuel to prevent a dangerous spin caused by a stuck thruster, in the first in-flight space emergency.

SELENE , better known in Japan by its nickname Kaguya, was the second Japanese lunar orbiter spacecraft following the Hiten probe]
Produced by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) and the National Space Development Agency (NASDA), the spacecraft was launched on September 14, 2007. After successfully orbiting the Moon for a year and eight months, the main orbiter was instructed to impact on the lunar surface near the crater Gill on June 10, 2009.[2]

Une nuit sans lune : Boat People, 40 ans après est un documentaire long métrage qui retrace le parcours vers la liberté de réfugiés vietnamiens qui ont fui leur patrie après les événements tragiques du 30 avril 1975 quand le régime totalitaire communiste du Nord a renversé le gouvernement démocratique du Sud-Vietnam. À travers de vibrants témoignages, le film fait revivre le parcours par la mer, et parfois par la terre, d’hommes, de femmes et de leurs enfants, prêts à tout pour trouver une vie juste et digne.
Après être passés par les camps de réfugiés de l’Asie du Sud-Est puis avoir fait un bref séjour à la base militaire de Longue-Pointe dans l’est de Montréal, découvrons comment, 40 ans plus tard, ces êtres exceptionnels ont su à force de courage et de résilience réussir leur intégration à la société québécoise et canadienne.
Parmi les personnalités ayant participé au documentaire, mentionnons l’auteure à success Kim Thúy, le Sénateur canadien Thanh Hai Ngo ainsi que le musician traditionnel vietnamien Duc Thanh Pham reconnu mondialement. Le grand chanteur africain Tiken Jah Fakoly a également eu la grâce de permettre l’utilisation de sa chanson “Ouvrez les frontières” pour le générique de fin.
Une nuit sans lune (86 minutes) est produit par UniActio, un organisme à but non lucratif en collaboration avec Les Films de L’Hydre, une société de production montréalaise indépendante, grâce à une commandite de la Banque Nationale.
Les entrevues et la recherche ont été menées par Thi Be Nguyen, elle-même réfugiée Boat People, arrivée au Canada à l’âge de 4 ans. La caméra, le son et le montage ont été réalisés par Marie-Hélène Panisset, qui, après avoir signé plusieurs films de danse et un long métrage de fiction, signe ici son premier long métrage documentaire.

A Moonless Night: Boat people, 40 years later is a documentary feature film that traces the journey to freedom of Vietnamese refugees who fled their homeland after the tragic events of April 30 1975 when the totalitarian communist regime from the North took over the democratic government from South Vietnam. A series of vibrant testimonies takes us through the escape by sea and sometimes land of men, women, and their children, who were ready to risk everything in order to find a life worth living.
After having stayed in refugee camps in South-East Asia, and gone through a short stay at military base Longue-Pointe in the East of Montreal, discover how these exceptional beings managed to succeed their integration through determination and resilience to Canadian life.
Among those participating in the documentary are world renown novelist Kim
Thúy, Canadian Senator Thanh Hao Ngo and internationally acclaimed Vietnamese traditional musician Duc Thanh Pham. The great Tiken Jah Fakoly, master of African contemporary music also did us the grace of lending his song “Ouvrez les frontières” for the end-credits.
A Moonless Night (86 minutes) is produced by UniAction, a not-for-profit organization, in collaboration with independent montreal-based film production company Les Films de L’Hydre, and thanks to a sponsorship by the National Bank.

Les entrevues et la recherche ont été menées par Thi Be Nguyen, elle-même réfugiée Boat People, arrivée au Canada à l’âge de 4 ans. La caméra, le son et le montage ont été réalisés par Marie-Hélène Panisset, qui, après avoir signé plusieurs films de danse et un long métrage de fiction, signe ici son premier long métrage documentaire.

A Moonless Night: Boat people, 40 years later is a documentary feature film that traces the journey to freedom of Vietnamese refugees who fled their homeland after the tragic events of April 30 1975 when the totalitarian communist regime from the North took over the democratic government from South Vietnam. A series of vibrant testimonies takes us through the escape by sea and sometimes land of men, women, and their children, who were ready to risk everything in order to find a life worth living.
