'Follow me out the back': Mandurah mother's Lotto shock

When a newsagency staff member asked a Mandurah mother to see him out the back of the store, the mother's first thought was, "Oh God, what have the kids done now".

The staff member's news, however, was much more positive than the mother anticipated, with the man informing her Lotto ticket he had just scanned was a division one winner.

"He then said I was the missing Division 1 winner and that I'd won $1.4 million," the mother said.

The shocked mother and her children later attended Lotterywest headquarters to claim their winnings.

"She was in complete shock and awe as she approached the Lotterywest winner's room," Lotterywest spokeswoman Chloe Lawler said.

"She kept asking for reassurance that it wasn't all a dream."

The next major Lotto draw happens Tuesday night, with a $30 million OZ Lotto jackpot up for grabs.

"Tonight's jackpot is a result of no one across the nation being able to match the seven winning numbers needed to take out OZ Lotto for four weeks now," Ms Lawler said.

"We expect our retailers will churn out almost 300 tickets per minute as Lotto fever peaks here in Perth this afternoon."
