Warp, warped or warping may refer to:
Star Trek is an American science fiction entertainment franchise created by Gene Roddenberry and owned by CBS (TV series) and Paramount Pictures (Film Rights).Star Trek: The Original Series and its live-action TV spin-off series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise as well as the Star Trek film franchise make up the main canon. The canonicity of Star Trek: The Animated Series is debated, and the expansive library of Star Trek novels and comics is generally considered non-canon, although still part of the franchise.
Warp drive is a hypothetical faster-than-light (FTL) propulsion system in science fiction works, most notably Star Trek. A spacecraft equipped with a warp drive may travel at fantasy speeds greater than that of light by many orders of magnitude. In contrast to other hypothetical FTL technologies such as a jump drive or hyper drive, the warp drive does not permit instantaneous (or near instantaneous) travel between two points but involves a measurable passage of time which is problematic to the concept. Spacecraft at warp velocity theoretically continue to interact with objects in "normal space". Other science fiction in which warp drive technology is featured include Stars!, EVE Online, Earth and Beyond, StarCraft, DarkSpace, Starship Troopers, Doctor Who, WALL-E, FTL: Faster Than Light and Star Ocean. The general concept of "warp drive" was introduced by John W. Campbell in his 1931 novel Islands of Space. A similar concept known as the "hyperdrive" in the science fiction franchise Star Wars functions also in a similar manner by manipulating the dimensions of spacial vacuum in front of a spaceship and behind it, giving it immense speed by giving it around and slightly beyond light speed capability.
Here's what you need to know about my Warp (Warpil). Today, we product test. Watch as I dissect the pocket, talk about 3d knitting machines, and take it out to the field! I drop edits every Wednesday and Friday. On weekends, I play lacrosse for the New York Lizards and Team USA. I do other stuff, too. Check out the links for more. About the talk Light speed is one of science fiction’s major plot limitations — and maybe one of the major limitations of science. How can we explore the stars if it takes tens of thousands of years to get to them… or the galaxies, if it takes billions of years? Warp drives and wormholes are often co-opted by authors to save the day — but what is scientific, and what is make-believe? General relativity allows space and time to bend. Can we say there are limits, or is the answer as yet unknown? Does faster-than-light travel mean time-travel is inevitable? Join Tamara to explore warp drives, light-speed limits, event horizons, and perhaps even the ultimate fate of the universe. About the speaker Professor Tamara Davis uses astrophysics to test our fundamental laws of physics, and ...

The physics of spacetime described by Einstein's Theory of General Relativity allows spacetime to become warped due to the relationship between matter/energy density and the gravitational field described by the Einstein Field Equations, in the most general form Ruv - (guvR)/2 + guv = (8pG/c4)Tuv, which equates that matter and energy found in the large scale structure of the universe creates a positive torsion in spacetime, causing the warping of spacetime which is associated with the strength of the gravitational force. In quantum mechanics, zero point energy fluctuations can create negative energy density which should theoretically, in a large enough density, create a negative torsion on spacetime in general relativity. The consequences of these theories, when combined, could change our...
