NAZI National Geographic Documentary HD
Nazi Germany or the Third Reich are common English names for the period of history in Germany from 1933 to 1945, when it was a dictatorship under the control of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party.
Nazi Germany made increasingly aggressive territorial demands, threatening war if they were not met. It seized Austria and Czechoslovakia in 1938 and 1939. Hitler made a pact with Joseph Stalin and invaded Poland in September 1939, launching World War II in Europe. In alliance with Italy and smaller Axis powers, Germany conquered most of Europe by 1940 and threatened Great Britain. Reichskommissariats took control of conquered areas, and a German administration was established in what was left of Poland. Jews and others deemed undesirable were imprisoned and murdered in Nazi concentration camps and extermination camps. The implementation of the regime's racial policies culminated in the mass murder of Jews and other minorities in the Holocaust. Following the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, the tide turned against the Nazis, who suffered major military defeats in 1943. Large-scale aerial bombing of Germany escalated in 1944, and the Nazis retreated from Eastern and Southern Europe. Following the Allied invasion of France, Germany was conquered by the Soviets from the east and the other Allied powers from the west and surrendered within a year. Hitler's refusal to admit defeat led to massive destruction of German infrastructure and additional war-related deaths in the closing months of the war. The victorious Allies initiated a policy of denazification and put many of the surviving Nazi leadership on trial for war crimes at the Nuremberg trials.

Through Josef Goebbels' Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, the German state tightly controlled political messaging, promoting deification of the leader—the Führerprinzip—and the demonization of the ubiquitous and duplicitious "racial enemy." A new exhibit at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., examines "how the Nazi Party used modern techniques as well as new technologies and carefully crafted messages to sway millions with its vision for a new Germany." Reason.tv's Michael C. Moynihan visited with museum historian and curator Steve Luckert to discuss the role and effectiveness of propaganda in the rise of fascism and what lessons can be drawn from the Nazi experiment in mass manipulation.

The Battle of Berlin, designated the Berlin Strategic Offensive Operation by the Soviet Union, was the final major offensive of the European theatre of World War II.
When the Soviet offensive resumed on 16 April, two Soviet fronts (army groups) attacked Berlin from the east and south, while a third overran German forces positioned north of Berlin. Before the main battle in Berlin commenced, the Red Army encircled the city after successful battles of the Seelow Heights and Halbe. On 20 April 1945, the 1st Belorussian Front led by Marshal Georgy Zhukov started shelling Berlin's city centre, while Marshal Ivan Konev's 1st Ukrainian Front had pushed from the south through the last formations of Army Group Centre. Concurrently, Hitler called for the activation of Operation Clausewitz on the same date. Defenses in Berlin's city center were mainly led by General Helmuth Weidling. These units consisted of several depleted and disorganized Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS divisions, along with poorly trained Volkssturm and Hitler Youth members. Within the next few days, the Red Army reached the city centre where close-quarters combat raged.
Before the battle was over, German Führer Adolf Hitler and many other major officials of the Nazi regime committed suicide. The city's garrison surrendered on 2 May, but fighting continued to the north-west, west, and south-west of the city until the end of the war in Europe on 8 May (9 May in the Soviet Union) as German units fought westward so that they could surrender to the Western Allies rather than to the Soviets.

Nazi Germany
Nazi Germany and the Third Reich (German: Drittes Reich) are common English names for the period of history in Germany from 1933 to 1945, when it was a dictatorship under the control of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party (NSDAP). Under Hitler's rule, Germany was transformed into a fascist totalitarian state which controlled nearly all aspects of life. The official name of the state was Deutsches Reich ("German Reich", "German Empire" or "German Realm") from 1933 to 1943 and Großdeutsches Reich (Greater German Reich) from 1943 to 1945. Nazi Germany ceased to exist after the Allied Forces defeated Germany in May 1945, ending World War II in Europe.
Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany by the President of the Weimar Republic Paul von Hindenburg on 30 January 1933. The Nazi Party then began to eliminate all political opposition and consolidate its power. Hindenburg died on 2 August 1934, and Hitler became dictator of Germany by merging the powers and offices of the Chancellery and Presidency. A national referendum held 19 August 1934 confirmed Hitler as sole Führer (leader) of Germany. All power was centralised in Hitler's hands, and his word became above all laws. The government was not a coordinated, co-operating body, but a collection of factions struggling for power and Hitler's favour. In the midst of the Great Depression, the Nazis restored economic stability and ended mass unemployment using heavy military spending and a mixed economy. Extensive public works were undertaken, including the construction of Autobahnen (high speed highways). The return to economic stability boosted the regime's popularity.

World War II
World War II (WWII or WW2), also known as the Second World War, was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945, although related conflicts began earlier. It involved the vast majority of the world's nations—including all of the great powers—eventually forming two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis. It was the most widespread war in history, and directly involved more than 100 million people from over 30 countries. In a state of "total war", the major participants threw their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities behind the war effort, erasing the distinction between civilian and military resources. Marked by mass deaths of civilians, including the Holocaust (in which approximately 11 million people were killed) and the strategic bombing of industrial and population centres (in which approximately one million were killed, and which included the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki), it resulted in an estimated 50 million to 85 million fatalities. These made World War II the deadliest conflict in human history.

Nazism
National Socialism (German: Nationalsozialismus), more commonly known as Nazism (/ˈnɑːtsɪzəm, ˈnæ-/) or Naziism (/ˈnɑːtsi.ɪzəm/), is the ideology and practice associated with the 20th-century German Nazi Party and Nazi state as well as other far-right groups. Usually characterized as a form of fascism that incorporates scientific racism and antisemitism, Nazism developed out of the influences of Pan-Germanism, the Völkisch German nationalist movement, and the anti-communist Freikorps paramilitary groups that emerged during the Weimar Republic after German defeat in World War I.
Nazism subscribed to theories of racial hierarchy and Social Darwinism. Germanic peoples (called the Nordic race) were depicted as the purest of the Aryan race, and were therefore the master race. Opposed to both capitalism and communism, it aimed to overcome social divisions, with all parts of a homogeneous society seeking national unity and traditionalism. Nazism also vigorously pursued what it viewed as historically German territory under the doctrine of Pan-Germanism (or Heim ins Reich), as well as additional lands for German expansion under the doctrine of Lebensraum.

Sovetskij Soyuz; IPA: [sɐ'vʲetskʲɪj sɐˈjʉs]), was a Marxist–Leninist state on the Eurasian continent that existed between 1922 and 1991. A union of multiple subnational Soviet republics, its government and economy were highly centralized. The Soviet Union was a one-party state, governed by the Communist Party with Moscow as its capital.

Nazi Germany made increasingly aggressive territorial demands, threatening war if they were not met. It seized Austria and Czechoslovakia in 1938 and 1939. Hitler made a pact with Joseph Stalin and invaded Poland in September 1939, launching World War II in Europe. In alliance with Italy and smaller Axis powers, Germany conquered most of Europe by 1940 and threatened Great Britain. Reichskommissariats took control of conquered areas, and a German administration was established in what was left of Poland. Jews and others deemed undesirable were imprisoned and murdered in Nazi concentration camps and extermination camps. The implementation of the regime's racial policies culminated in the mass murder of Jews and other minorities in the Holocaust. Following the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, the tide turned against the Nazis, who suffered major military defeats in 1943. Large-scale aerial bombing of Germany escalated in 1944, and the Nazis retreated from Eastern and Southern Europe. Following the Allied invasion of France, Germany was conquered by the Soviets from the east and the other Allied powers from the west and surrendered within a year. Hitler's refusal to admit defeat led to massive destruction of German infrastructure and additional war-related deaths in the closing months of the war. The victorious Allies initiated a policy of denazification and put many of the surviving Nazi leadership on trial for war crimes at the Nuremberg trials.

A new exhibit at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., examines "how the Nazi Party used modern techniques as well as new technologies and carefully crafted messages to sway millions with its vision for a new Germany." Reason.tv's Michael C. Moynihan visited with museum historian and curator Steve Luckert to discuss the role and effectiveness of propaganda in the rise of fascism and what lessons can be drawn from the Nazi experiment in mass manipulation.

Concurrently, Hitler called for the activation of Operation Clausewitz on the same date. Defenses in Berlin's city center were mainly led by General Helmuth Weidling. These units consisted of several depleted and disorganized Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS divisions, along with poorly trained Volkssturm and Hitler Youth members. Within the next few days, the Red Army reached the city centre where close-quarters combat raged.
Before the battle was over, German Führer Adolf Hitler and many other major officials of the Nazi regime committed suicide. The city's garrison surrendered on 2 May, but fighting continued to the north-west, west, and south-west of the city until the end of the war in Europe on 8 May (9 May in the Soviet Union) as German units fought westward so that they could surrender to the Western Allies rather than to the Soviets.

The most important places to visit in Berlin are: Checkpoint Charlie (its name was given for the Berlin Wall crossing point between East and West Berlin during the Cold War), Berlin city hall (built in Italian Renaissance style, its construction lasted from 1861 to 1869. Along with the State Government of Berlin it is also the office of the city's Governing Mayor), The Potsdam Castle (located about 15 miles outside of Berlin, the castle is a gorgeous masterpiece nestled amidst vineyards. This lovely structure is so exquisite that it is often regarded as the German equivalent of The Palace of Versailles), Reichstag (the seat of German Parliament. Built in 1894, it housed the Parliament of the German Empire and the Weimar Republic. In 1933, a suspicious fire in the Reichstag propelled the Nazi regime to power), The Holocaust Memorial (is a tribute to the millions of Jews killed by the Nazi government. It consists of 2007 stone slabs spread over an area the size of three soccer fields), Museum Island (located in the center of Berlin on the river Spree, it has many world-renowned museums. Due to the art and history that is preserved here, the island is a UNESCO Heritage Site), Brandenburg gate (completed in 1791, this gate is a symbol of Germany. After World War II, the gate was one of the 8 checkpoints between East and West Berlin), Berlin Cathedral (centuries old, this historic landmark has been treasured by all of Germany. Join as we visit Nuremberg, Germany on a trip to wander around with the aim of doing the best things in Nuremberg. As the second largest city in Bavaria, Nürnberg has a lot offer in terms of castles, museums and unique cuisine worth sampling.
As a very walkable and tourist friendly city you can cover most attractions in Nuremberg in just a day or two making it a perfect weekend retreat.
We honestly arrived without the highest of expectations but we left feeling as though we wanted to spend extra time in Nuremberg.
Now let's see what this fascinating city in Germany has to offer a first time visitor.

10 Things to do in Nuremberg, Germany travel guide video transcript:
We started our day by taking the U-bahn to the centre of town and getting off at Lorenzkirche. This put us on the south bank of the Pegnitz River, where we took the opportunity to browse some markets before visiting St Lorenz Church.
This is a beautiful gothic church complete with pointed vaults, stained glass windows, and sculptures.
From there we walked across one of the city’s many bridges and continued on to the Beautiful Fountain (yes, that’s the name), searching for a bit of good luck.
One of Nuremberg’s most famed attractions is the Imperial Castle located in the northwest end of the Old Town. The castle is a testament to the power of the Holy Roman Empire during the middle ages.
And we couldn’t come all the way to Nuremberg and not try the famed Nuremberger sausage! We went to Bratwursthäusle, right in the heart of the Old Town by St Sebaldus Church.
Later that afternoon we went into Nuremberg’s deep underground on a tour of the historic beer cellars. Nuremberg has been a beer brewing city for centuries.
While in town, we also took a walk down Weißgerbergasse, which may just be one of the prettiest streets in Nuremberg. This curved cobbled street is lined with half-timbered houses.
Albrecht Dürer’s one time home is now a museum dedicated to his life and work. He was a German Renaissance artist across many mediums, but he is best known for revolutionizing printmaking and elevating it as an art form. At certain times of day, they offer a guided tour with an actress who plays the role of Agnes Dürer, the artist’s wife.
The bridge we were looking for is the Heilig-Geist-Spital, or the Holy Spirit Hospital. It’s not a bridge in the usual sense of the word, rather a medieval building that sits across part of the Pegnitz River.
On a more serious note, we couldn’t leave Nuremberg without also visiting the Dokuzentrum, also known as the The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rallying Grounds.

Construction works on the incomplete Nazi coastal resort which is being rebuilt to host hotel and luxury vacation apartments continued in Ruegen Island’s Binz resort, Wednesday.
The construction of the Baltic Sea resort’s old building began in 1936, but work was stopped in 1939 with the start of WWII, leaving behind eight connected and unfinished six-storey buildings. Designed as a coastal retreat for faithful Nazis, the complex was taken over by the army of the GDR after the war and was mainly used for military drills. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the GDR, the German Armed Forces moved into the buildings, keeping up the drills.
SOT, Willy Joszt, visitor and potential buyer (German): "What else can you do with these buildings, you cannot dismantle them as they are under heritage protection and using them as vacation apartments is probably not the worst thing under these circumstances. This has nothing to do with the past. The fact that it has been built at a time when some people, the so-called German ‘Volksgenossen’ were to spend their leisure time in such buildings while others were dying in concentration camps has nothing to do with the fact that they are being used for a new purpose now."

Recently we had the opportunity to visit Europa-Park, the largest theme park in Germany and second most popular theme resort in all of Europe.
This was the perfect opportunity for us to rekindle our childhood passion for rides. With over eleven different roller coasters alone we quickly realized we had never been to such a big theme park.
What we found cool was that the theme park was divided into different European countries. If you can't visit all of Europe going to Europa Park is like getting little slivers of it all.
Accommodating up to 50,000 guests per day, we were fortunate we didn't come during peak season; however, it was still crowded.
Overall, the weather was perfect, the rides were fun and it is an experience we won't forget anytime soon.
This is a bit of a surprise. We have an eight hour wait for a flight in Frankfurt, so instead of just hanging around in the airport, which was our original plan, we decided to drop our bags off and come into the city.
That pretty much wraps up our little visit to Frankfurt. We spent maybe three or four hours just walking around and it was really nice to just see the city without much of an agenda.
I came here with quite low expectations to be perfectly honest. I had heard more or less this is just a financial hub but it ended up being quite charming here in Frankfurt and I'm definitely going to miss Germany. I've had a wonderful time traveling around the country.
We aren't having much luck with the weather today. It is really rainy here in Freiburg. It is Easter weekend but we are out an exploring and we want to show you the city. Let's go have a tour.

Recently we had the opportunity to visit Europa-Park, the largest theme park in Germany and second most popular theme resort in all of Europe.
This was the perfect opportunity for us to rekindle our childhood passion for rides. With over eleven different roller coasters alone we quickly realized we had never been to such a big theme park.
What we found cool was that the theme park was divided into different European countries. If you can't visit all of Europe going to Europa Park is like getting little slivers of it all.
Accommodating up to 50,000 guests per day, we were fortunate we didn't come during peak season; however, it was still crowded.
Overall, the weather was perfect, the rides were fun and it is an experience we won't forget anytime soon.
This is a bit of a surprise. We have an eight hour wait for a flight in Frankfurt, so instead of just hanging around in the airport, which was our original plan, we decided to drop our bags off and come into the city.
