Darling's Waterfront Pavilion

Darling's Waterfront Pavilion is, as of 2013, the name used for an open-air amphitheater located in Waterfront Park in Bangor, Maine.

The Pavilion first opened on July 28, 2010 with a performance by Celtic Woman. The venue was referred to simply as "Waterfront Park" until a 2013 arrangement between Waterfront Concerts and Darling's, a locally owned car dealership, led to the new name.

A University of Maine study in 2013 showed that the economic impact of the Waterfront Concert series totaled more than $30 million since 2010. The KahBang Music and Art Festival and American Folk Festival are also held at Waterfront Park.

Mirrorwriting

Mirrorwriting is the debut studio album by British singer-songwriter Jamie Woon. It was released in Europe on 18 April 2011 through Polydor Records. The album started to receive hype after Woon ended fourth on BBC's Sound of 2011 poll. It was preceded by the lead single, "Night Air" on 22 October 2010.

Critical reception

Paul Clarke of BBC Music gave the album a positive review by saying: "Things would probably be quite different for Woon had he’d got his act together sooner. In 2007, his fragile cover of an old folk spiritual placed him pretty much alone at the crossroads between rural blues and urban electronica, a 20-something Robert Johnson from London who’d sold his soul to dubstep instead of the Devil. Today, though, he shares this space with The xx and James Blake; and overshadowed by The xx’s Mercury Prize victory and Blake’s own debut album of earlier in 2011, Woon’s music could now be in danger of sounding wearily familiar rather than darkly mysterious".

Venus Isle

Venus Isle is the fourth studio album by guitarist Eric Johnson, released on September 3, 1996 through Capitol Records. The album reached No. 51 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and remained on that chart for six weeks. "Pavilion" was released as a single and reached No. 33 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, while its B-side "S.R.V." is a tribute to guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan and features his elder brother Jimmie Vaughan as a guest soloist. "Camel's Night Out" is featured as downloadable content for the music video game Guitar Hero World Tour (2008) and can also be exported to Guitar Hero 5 (2009).

The album's original title was to be Travel One Hope, but this was changed at the last minute by Capitol for "being too oblique." Advance promotional CDs of Travel One Hope have since become a collector's item.

Critical reception

Stephen Thomas Erlewine at AllMusic gave Venus Isle three stars out of five, describing Johnson as a "consummate guitarist" and "a joy to hear him play". However, he criticized the album for not breaking any new ground following the six-year gap from its 1990 predecessor Ah Via Musicom, remarking that it "reveals no new insights about the guitarist, it only offers a new spin on the territory Ah! Via Musicom covered."

Pavilion (London members club)

Pavilion is a British business members' club co-founded by the UK property entrepreneur Jon Hunt and his daughter Emma. It opened under the name "Dryland" on London's Kensington High Street at the end of 2011, offering luxury work space.

History

Media interest in Pavilion has centred on the firm being one of the first public forays for its publicity-shy founder, Jon Hunt, since he sold Foxtons, the estate agent he founded, in a May 2007 deal that made him one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs in the UK.

Hunt has said that he originally entered the serviced office business only by accident, after buying a 70s office building in London's Battersea district that he intended to convert into residential homes, only for planning officials to refuse permission for residential use.

Concept

Pavilion is notable for being the first "premium offering" in the serviced offices sector, providing members with luxury features such as private dining courtesy of in-house chefs and a concierge service. The Financial Times has described Pavilion as providing "...the atmosphere of a private members club and the hospitality of a five-star hotel." Pavilion is also unusual among serviced office providers for locating in a high-end residential area, which is not traditionally associated with office space.

Pavilion is a Canadian travel documentary television series which aired on CBC Television in 1967.

Premise

Lloyd Robertson presented film features on the various nations which hosted pavilions at Expo 67 in Montreal such as Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, the United States and West Germany.
