Hamlet is a 1990 drama film based on the Shakespearean tragedy of the same name directed by Franco Zeffirelli and starring Mel Gibson as the eponymous character. The film also features Glenn Close, Alan Bates, Paul Scofield, Ian Holm, Helena Bonham Carter, Stephen Dillane, and Nathaniel Parker. It is notable for being the first film from Icon Productions, a company co-founded by Gibson.
In Denmark, Prince Hamlet finds himself involved in a conspiracy of power to the royal palace. Cruel uncle Claudius kills his brother and takes the power of the kingdom. After an encounter with the restless ghost of his murdered father, Hamlet feigns madness and plots to take vengeance.

As the only one who can influence the King, Struensee is able to begin sweeping enlightened reforms of Denmark through Christian even as Caroline falls for the doctor. Branagh goes completely over-the-top in the death of Claudius in his version of Shakespeare's Hamlet. It can only be seen to be believed. Enjoy the flying sword of doom and the falling chandelier!

❝ I know my kingdom awaits, and they've forgiven my mistakes –– ❞ YT link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qr1fg5yOjuk So last week we watched Shakespeare. First time since reading Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth way back in high school. And things are so different now, my gosh. Me and my sister were completely caught up in Kenneth Branagh's 1996 rendition of Hamlet, and the journey he goes through in the play. I just can't with Hamlet. His first soliloquy surges with such a childlike vulnerability and pure love for his father… and then his utter aloneness to fulfill the vengeance that is thrust upon him. He can't share what he believes, can hardly comfort himself in his own belief either – and sees in himself such an unworthiness and inability to do what is asked of him or to do what is r...

. . . "ARTIST ASSHOLE" [DV / 2 min 48 sec / 2006] by Harald Scherz ARTIST ASSHOLE asks uncomfortable questions concerning the possibilities and the degree of self-realisation and individualisation of human beings. Far from any narrow (art-)market mechanisms or maybe exactly in their centers. The conscious deconstruction of the cinematic illusion leaves a paradox scenario behind, to put it in another way: ARTIST ASSHOLE leaves an ambivalent thought appear in harmony, this means it allows at least an ambiguous outcome. The contrast of classic art pieces and contemporary art combined with the honesty of a financially successful young artist rise the question of authenticity, also backwards on to the documented history. ARTIST ASSHOLE constructs, captivates, destroys, cozens and disillusions....

If the dull substance of my flesh were thought
Injurious distance should not stop my way
For then despite of space, I would be brought
From limits far remote where thou dost stay
Not so far, mine eye and heart are at a mortal war
How to divide the conquest of your irresistible sight
When you are here with your poetry.
But ah! Thought kills me that I'm not thought
To leap large lengths of miles when you are gone
These are our sacrifices, roses have thorns and silver fountains mud
But that, so much of earth and water wrought
I must attend time's leisure with my moan
Let me confess that we two... we must be twain!
Rise with your stateliness, dream of us with open eye
Like waves make towards the shore
Our minutes hasten to their end
Not so far, mine eye and heart are at a mortal war
How to divide the conquest of your irresistible sight
When you are here in your person.
But ah! Thought kills me that I'm not thought
To leap large lengths of miles when you are gone
These are our sacrifices, roses have thorns and silver fountains mud
But that, so much of earth and water wrought
I must attend time's leisure with my moan
These are our sacrifices...
Mine are heavy tears, mine is the grief of having you
So shall I compare you to a summer's day?
No, you are more lovely and more temperate
Within the distance my mind dives in yours
Who will believe my verse in time to come
If it were filled with your most high deserts, and with my love?
So long as eyes can see
