Goehner, Nebraska

Goehner is a village in Seward County, Nebraska, United States. It is part of the Lincoln, Nebraska Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 154 at the 2010 census.

History

Goehner was platted in 1887 when the North Western Railroad was extended to that point. It was named for John F. Goehner, a local businessman and politician. Goehner was incorporated as a village in 1913.

Geography

Goehner is located at 40°49′58″N 97°13′13″W / 40.83278°N 97.22028°W / 40.83278; -97.22028 (40.832663, -97.220193).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.17 square miles (0.44 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

2010 census

As of the census of 2010, there were 154 people, 68 households, and 41 families residing in the village. The population density was 905.9 inhabitants per square mile (349.8/km²). There were 79 housing units at an average density of 464.7 per square mile (179.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 100.0% White. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.2% of the population.

Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley is a nickname for the southern portion of the San Francisco Bay Area, which is located in part of the U.S. state of California known as Northern California. It is home to many of the world's largest high-tech corporations, as well as thousands of startup companies. Geographically, it encompasses all of the Santa Clara Valley, the southern half of the San Francisco Peninsula, and southern portions of the East Bay. It includes parts or most of Santa Clara County, San Mateo County, and Alameda County.

The word "valley" refers to the Santa Clara Valley, where the region has traditionally been centered, which includes the city of San Jose and surrounding cities and towns. The word "silicon" originally referred to the large number of silicon chip innovators and manufacturers in the region. The term "Silicon Valley" eventually came to refer to all high tech businesses in the area, and is now generally used as a synecdoche for the American high-technology economic sector. It also became a global synonym for leading high-tech research and enterprises, and thus inspired similar named locations, as well as research parks and technology centers with a comparable structure all around the world.

Silicon Valley Comic Con

Silicon Valley Comic Con is a planned annual comic book, popular arts, and technology multi-genre convention, to be held in the San Francisco Bay Area, based in the region's largest city, San Jose.

The convention was conceived by Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak. The inaugural event will be held in March 18–20, 2016 at San Jose's McEnery Convention Center.

History

Silicon Valley Comic Con was first announced 17 April 2015 through an online video featuring Steve Wozniak and Stan Lee. The aim was to bring together popular culture touchstones such as comics, movies, genre TV and technology together in one convention. The plan is to feature celebrities, movies, television, video games, comic books, along with other popular cultural arts.

Silicon Valley Comic Con will be the San Francisco Bay Area's first large multi-genre convention since the departure of WonderCon after that convention's 2011 show. Since WonderCon's departure the largest convention left in the Bay Area had been Big Wow! Comicfest, which is being added to Silicon Valley Comic Con's schedule.
