Tori Amos (born Myra Ellen Amos; August 22, 1963) is an American singer-songwriter, pianist and composer. She is a classically trained musician and has a mezzo-soprano vocal range. She has received eight Grammy nominations.
Having already begun composing instrumental pieces on piano, Amos won a full scholarship to the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University, the youngest person ever to have been admitted, at age five. She was expelled at age eleven for, in her own words, insisting on playing by ear and because of her interest in popular rock music. Amos originally served as the lead singer of short-lived 1980s pop group Y Kant Tori Read before achieving her breakthrough as a solo artist at the forefront of a number of female singer-songwriters in the early 1990s. She has since become one of the world's most prominent female singer-songwriters whose songs have discussed a broad range of topics including sexuality, feminism, politics and religion. She was also noteworthy early in her solo career as one of the few alternative rock performers to use a piano as her primary instrument. Some of her charting singles include "Crucify", "Silent All These Years", "God", "Cornflake Girl", "Caught a Lite Sneeze", "Professional Widow", "Spark", "1000 Oceans", "Flavor", and "A Sorta Fairytale", her most commercially successful single in the U.S. to date. Amos has sold more than 12 million albums worldwide. She has been nominated for and won several awards in different genres, ranging from MTV VMAs to classical music with an Echo award in 2012.

At war with the Strict Nine are a violent skateboarder cult known only as the V.O.T.S. (or: Victims Of The System) who are obsessed with heavy-metal guitarist Chris Impellitteri. In the midst of this alt-cult war, Josh is kidnapped by the V.O.T.S., and in order to rescue him, Larry must call upon the unlikeliest team of superheroes on Earth: TEAM BRUTAL!

Plot: Get ready to take a ride on a train-wreck! Enter the world of Josh Lowell -- demented loser, town pillar, self-loathing transvestite in denial. The centerpiece, the proverbial objet d'art, he is the center of his universe, surrounded by minions of devoted followers, over whom he exerts an almost cult-like control. The first member of these so-called "minions" is Malaise, goth-warrior-princess and trailer-trash vampire. Malaise blazes a trail strewn with flotsam and jetsam on whatever path she chooses to tread. In this case, the path is where Josh happens to be walking. Malaise is also a really big slut. The second of these minions, and Josh's sergeant-at-arms, is Salem. A brute force of wasted air,Salem commands the respect of those around him, like crackheads, the homeless and runaway kids. Accompanied by these two devoted followers, Josh busies himself preparing for his comeback. Where has he been to necessitate this comeback? Well, that's what this documentary is about. Josh is, in fact, (according to him), none other than Tori Amos, in spite of the Adam's apple and the propensity to use urinals. Unfortunately, the population of Seattle doesn't quite accept him as the avant-garde rockstar, Ms. Amos. Therein lies the basis for the wonderful series of hijinks and conflicts that erupt as Josh spends his days walking the streets of Seattle spouting obscenities to all passers-by, threatening shopkeepers, performing for his fans and drawing all sunshine and cosmic energy from the ether above. He does this by simply walking around in a tattered housecoat and red wig, but that's the fun part.

"Don't you want more than my sex?" is just one of many memorable lines on Tori Amos' 1992 album Little Earthquakes, jauntily tossed off in the cabaret singalong "Leather." But it encapsulates the challenge the singer-songwriter posed to the music world 20 years ago. Leading a wave of artists who would take women in rock from the margins to the center, Amos showed the world how a whole woman — brains, guts, heart and, yes, sex — could sound. At 28, Amos was coming into her own after a few false starts in the L.A. pop machine, and she went deep and hard into her feminine experience with a voice that murmured or screamed, but most of all spoke frankly and directly and seemingly right into the hearts of her fans. Amos' delicate but rocking songs, built around her classically based piano play...

The first from July 1991 was filmed a few months before the release of her "Little Earthquakes" album and the second from July 1992 followed a few months after. There is a fascinating progression from one year to the next as she grows in confidence and skill as a live performer, buoyed by the critical and commercial success of the album. Naturally most of the songs are taken from "Little Earthquakes" but there are also rare songs from her various EPs released across the two years which didn't make it onto the album including her distinctive takes on Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" and "Thank You" and Nirvana's "...

Our favorite alt-rocking, piano-banging singer-songwriter Tori Amos sat down with us to take our On the Record challenge, in which she was given 45 seconds to talk about her all-time favorite album. Here, she discusses the iconic Led Zeppelin IV. "When I heard it, my world completely exploded," she tells us, along with a story about sneaking bits of Led Zeppelin into her church performances as a kid. Always the rebel! Editor: Olivia Parriott

For more info - http://www.eagle-rock.com/artist/tori-amos/#.U-jo-ThwaB8 These two concerts from Montreux in 1991 and 1992 catch Tori Amos right at the start of her solo career.

But it encapsulates the challenge the singer-songwriter posed to the music world 20 years ago.
Lucky me
I guessed the kind of man
That you would turn out to be
Now I wish that I'd been wrong and then
I could remember to breathe
And all along the watchtower
The night horses and the black mares
Ready themselves for the outcome
For the strange times upon us
But what you didn't count on
Was another mother of
A mother revolution
But what you didn't count on
Was another mother of
A mother revolution
You could've have me
You could've have me
You could've have me
Right there beside you
You could've have me boy
You could've have me yeah
You could've have me
Right there beside you
A wife on loan in a cafe
In old El Paso
Next I go to
Seven Gates and my sister's Bass Bonanza
And all along her watchtower
The night horses and the black mares
Steady themselves for the outcome
For the strange days upon us
What you didn't count on
Was another mother of
