Yazd
Yazd (Persian: یزد [jæzd] 
pronunciation ) is the capital of Yazd Province, Iran, and one of the main cities of Zoroastrian culture. The city is located 270 km (170 mi) southeast of Esfahan. At the 2011 census, the population was 1,074,428 in 270٬575 families.
Because of generations of adaptations to its desert surroundings, Yazd has an unique Persian architecture. It is nicknamed the city of windcatchers (Persian: شهر بادگیرها Shahr-e Badgirha) because of its ancient windcatchers. It is also very well known for its Zoroastrian fire temples, ab anbars, qanats, yakhchals, Persian handicrafts, silk weaving, and its high quality confectionery.
Climate
Yazd is the driest major city in Iran, with an average annual rainfall of only 60 millimetres (2.4 in), and also the hottest north of the Persian Gulf coast, with summer temperatures very frequently above 40 °C (104 °F) in blazing sunshine with no humidity. Even at night the temperatures in summer are rather uncomfortable. In the winter, the days remain mild and sunny, but in the morning the thin air and low cloudiness cause very cold temperatures that can sometimes fall well below 0 °C (32 °F).

It is bordered to the northwest by Armenia, the de facto Nagorno-Karabakh, and Azerbaijan; with Kazakhstan and Russia across the Caspian Sea; to the northeast by Turkmenistan; to the east by Afghanistan and Pakistan; to the south by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman; and to the west by Turkey and Iraq. Comprising a land area of 1,648,195 km2 (636,372 sq mi), it is the second-largest country in the Middle East and the 18th-largest in the world. With 78.4 million inhabitants, Iran is the world's 17th-most-populous country. It is the only country that has both a Caspian Sea and an Indian Ocean coastline. Iran has long been of geostrategic importance because of its central location in Eurasia and Western Asia, and its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz.

Şiran
Şiran, also Karaca, is a town and district of Gümüşhane Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It is one of the points of passage between Eastern Anatolia and Black Sea regions of Turkey, in the sense that the western road departing from Erzincan towards the Zigana Pass (the key pass between the two geographies) has its last urban stop in Şiran. According to the 2010 census, population of the district is 17,600 of which 8,207 live in the town of Şiran. The district covers an area of 928 km2 (358 sq mi), and the town lies at an elevation of 1,457 m (4,780 ft).
Name
The name comes from Persian and means "the lions", although it is most likely to be an adaptation of the former Greek name of Cheriana (Χερίανα) adopted after the Turkish settlement in the region after and possibly even slightly before the Battle of Manzikert.
History
Many of the northern villages of the district was home to minority populations of Pontic Greeks until the 1922 Exchange of Greek and Turkish Populations, constituting the southern fringes of that community's extension. Some among the present population can also trace their roots to Greeks who had converted to Islam until as late as the end of the 19th century, as indicated by the Ottoman census and changed village names (for example, the present village of "Evren" was formerly called "Sefker").

Persian wine
Persian wine, also called Mey (Persian: می) and Badeh (باده), is a cultural symbol and tradition in Persia, and has a significant presence in Persian mythology, Persian poetry and Persian miniatures.
History
Recent archaeological research has pushed back the date of the known origin of wine making in Persia far beyond that which writers earlier in the 20th century had envisaged. Excavations at the Godin Tepe site in the Zagros mountains (Badler, 1995; McGovern and Michel, 1995; McGovern, 2003), have revealed pottery vessels dating from c. 3100–2900 BC containing tartaric acid, almost certainly indicating the former presence of wine. Even earlier evidence was found at the site of Hajji Firuz Tepe, also in the Zagros mountains. Here, McGovern et al. (1996) used chemical analyses of the residue of a Neolithic jar dating from as early as 5400–5000 BC to indicate high levels of tartaric acid, again suggesting that the fluid contained therein had been made from grapes.
As book of Immortal Land Persian: سرزمین جاوید or Sar Zamin e Javid] (by Zabihollah Mansoori) says Ramian wines were world-famous in the Parthian Empire. Ramian Wine is now a California wine brand but Shiraz wines are famous across the globe.

Could you survive in the middle of a desert as hot as Iran, with no electricity, limited water and temperatures often over 45C (113F)? Now try to imagine doing that in Iran, 1,800 years ago!
Here in Yazd, Iran -- I’ve learned the different methods for how ancient humans in this area survived dating back to the 3rd Century. To get water, they would dig a system of deep underground tunnels (up to 300 meters deep) to find wells, and somehow, find a way to funnel down the water into the towns.
It’s summer right now in Iran, and let me tell you, it’s BLISTERING HOT outside here. Reminds me of summers back home in Phoenix, Arizona. I cannot imagine the struggles these people went through to survive.
Putting the history aside, the old town of Yazd is stunning with the most beautifuly-crafted blue-tiled mosque and a thriving shopping scene at the bazaar!

I visited Yazd during Nowruz, the Iranian New Year for a feast with locals outside the Amir Chakhmaq Complex. What an authentic experience... with super hospitable Iranian people!
Tourism in Yazd includes:
1- YAZD ATASH BEREM: The Zoroastrian "Fire Temple" with the "Divine Fire" that's been burning for over 1,500 years! Yazd is the center of Zoroastrianism, one of the world's oldest religions. Zoroastrianism is based on the teachings of the Iranian prophet Zarathustra.
2- TOWER OF SILENCE / YAZD DHAKMA - Here Zoroastrians would bring dead bodies to the OSSUARY, where they would leave them for vultures to pick their bones clean!
3- DOWLATABAD GARDEN: UNESCO World Heritage example of a beautiful Persian garden, of which there are many in Iran. Here I discovered the gorgeous stained glass interior and outside I experienced the world's tallest adobe windcatcher.
4- JAMEH MOSQUE - The crown jewel of Yazd and one of the most brilliant examples of Persian architecture in all of Iran.
And let's not forget the delicious Persian Food... In Yazd I tried Tachin for the first time. It's a crunchy saffron rice cake stuffed with chicken and topped with barberries.
Finally, I got a chance to chat with an Iranian taxi driver who told me about how his children prefer American English to other forms. I made an entire "Iranian Taxicab Confessions" video here: https://youtu.be/9x1OcA3GvNI

گردشگری در یزد، ایران جذاب است. من در آخرین روز نوروز، سال نو ایرانی، از آن بازدید کردم و با مردم محلی بیرون مجتمع معروف امیر چخماق پذیرایی شدم. این نوع تجربه اصیل مورد علاقه من است... با مردم فوق العاده مهمان نواز ایرانی!
من هم بازدید کردم:
1- يزد آتش برم: «آتشكده» زرتشتيان با «آتش الهي» كه بيش از 1500 سال ميسوزد! یزد مرکز دین زرتشتی، یکی از قدیمی ترین ادیان جهان است. دین زرتشت بر اساس آموزه های زرتشت پیامبر ایرانی است.
2- برج سکوت / یزد ذکما - اینجا زرتشتیان اجساد مرده را به استونه می آوردند و در آنجا می گذاشتند تا کرکس ها استخوان هایشان را تمیز کنند!
3- باغ دولت آباد: نمونه میراث جهانی یونسکو از باغ ایرانی زیبا که در ایران تعداد زیادی از آن وجود دارد. در اینجا من شیشه های رنگی زیبا را کشف کردم و در خارج از آن بلندترین بادگیر خشتی جهان را تجربه کردم.
4- مسجد جامع - نگین تاج یزد و یکی از درخشان ترین نمونه های معماری ایرانی در سراسر ایران.

Reports say at least six of almost 50 military roles announced by the Syrian defence ministry on Dec. 30, had gone to foreigners. Among them were several foreign fighters, three given the rank of brigadier-general and at least three others the rank of colonel, a Syrian military source said. Syria’s new government deployed dozens of soldiers in the Damascus suburb of Adra on Dec. 30 in search of alleged militiamen loyal to Assad. The same day, an Israeli airstrike on the city of Adra near Damascus killed at least 11 Syrians, Al Mayadeen reported.

Could you survive in the middle of a desert as hot as Iran, with no electricity, limited water and temperatures often over 45C (113F)? Now try to imagine doing that in Iran, 1,800 years ago!
Here in Yazd, Iran -- I’ve learned the different methods for how ancient humans in this area survived dating back to the 3rd Century. To get water, they would dig a system of deep underground tunnels (up to 300 meters deep) to find wells, and somehow, find a way to funnel down the water into the towns.
It’s summer right now in Iran, and let me tell you, it’s BLISTERING HOT outside here. Reminds me of summers back home in Phoenix, Arizona. I cannot imagine the struggles these people went through to survive.
Putting the history aside, the old town of Yazd is stunning with the most beautifuly-crafted blue-tiled mosque and a thriving shopping scene at the bazaar!

I visited Yazd during Nowruz, the Iranian New Year for a feast with locals outside the Amir Chakhmaq Complex. What an authentic experience... with super hospitable Iranian people!
Tourism in Yazd includes:
1- YAZD ATASH BEREM: The Zoroastrian "Fire Temple" with the "Divine Fire" that's been burning for over 1,500 years! Yazd is the center of Zoroastrianism, one of the world's oldest religions. Zoroastrianism is based on the teachings of the Iranian prophet Zarathustra.
2- TOWER OF SILENCE / YAZD DHAKMA - Here Zoroastrians would bring dead bodies to the OSSUARY, where they would leave them for vultures to pick their bones clean!
3- DOWLATABAD GARDEN: UNESCO World Heritage example of a beautiful Persian garden, of which there are many in Iran. Here I discovered the gorgeous stained glass interior and outside I experienced the world's tallest adobe windcatcher.
4- JAMEH MOSQUE - The crown jewel of Yazd and one of the most brilliant examples of Persian architecture in all of Iran.
And let's not forget the delicious Persian Food... In Yazd I tried Tachin for the first time. It's a crunchy saffron rice cake stuffed with chicken and topped with barberries.

1- يزد آتش برم: «آتشكده» زرتشتيان با «آتش الهي» كه بيش از 1500 سال ميسوزد! یزد مرکز دین زرتشتی، یکی از قدیمی ترین ادیان جهان است. دین زرتشت بر اساس آموزه های زرتشت پیامبر ایرانی است.
2- برج سکوت / یزد ذکما - اینجا زرتشتیان اجساد مرده را به استونه می آوردند و در آنجا می گذاشتند تا کرکس ها استخوان هایشان را تمیز کنند!
3- باغ دولت آباد: نمونه میراث جهانی یونسکو از باغ ایرانی زیبا که در ایران تعداد زیادی از آن وجود دارد. در اینجا من شیشه های رنگی زیبا را کشف کردم و در خارج از آن بلندترین بادگیر خشتی جهان را تجربه کردم.
4- مسجد جامع - نگین تاج یزد و یکی از درخشان ترین نمونه های معماری ایرانی در سراسر ایران.

It is said that Zarathustra was born in 1768 BC on north west of Iran and then he became prophet at the age of 35. This religion is the first Monotheistic religion and the they call on God as Ahura Mazda which means great, wise, creator.

Yazd (Persian: یزد [jæzd] pronunciation ) is the capital of Yazd Province, Iran, and one of the main cities of Zoroastrian culture. The city is located 270 km (170 mi) southeast of Esfahan. At the 2011 census, the population was 1,074,428 in 270٬575 families.
Because of generations of adaptations to its desert surroundings, Yazd has an unique Persian architecture. It is nicknamed the city of windcatchers (Persian: شهر بادگیرها Shahr-e Badgirha) because of its ancient windcatchers. It is also very well known for its Zoroastrian fire temples, ab anbars, qanats, yakhchals, Persian handicrafts, silk weaving, and its high quality confectionery.
Climate
Yazd is the driest major city in Iran, with an average annual rainfall of only 60 millimetres (2.4 in), and also the hottest north of the Persian Gulf coast, with summer temperatures very frequently above 40 °C (104 °F) in blazing sunshine with no humidity. Even at night the temperatures in summer are rather uncomfortable. In the winter, the days remain mild and sunny, but in the morning the thin air and low cloudiness cause very cold temperatures that can sometimes fall well below 0 °C (32 °F).

Syria’s new rulers have reportedly installed some foreign fighters including Uyghurs, a Jordanian, and a Turk in the country’s military. Reports say at least six of almost 50 military roles announced by the Syrian defence ministry on Dec. 30, had gone to foreigners. Among them were several foreign fighters, three given the rank of brigadier-general and at least three others the rank of colonel, a Syrian military source said. Syria’s new government deployed dozens of soldiers in the Damascus suburb of Adra on Dec. 30 in search of alleged militiamen loyal to Assad. The same day, an Israeli airstrike on the city of Adra near Damascus killed at least 11 Syrians, Al Mayadeen reported.
