The elusive leader of a major rebel group fighting for independence in Pakistan's Balochistan province said he would welcome cash and other help from India, words likely to alarm Islamabad which accuses New Delhi of stirring trouble there. In his first video interview in five years, Allah Nazar Baloch, head of the ethnic Baluch group Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), also vowed further attacks on a Chinese economic corridor, parts of which run through the resource-rich province. The planned $46 billion trade route is expected to link western China with Pakistan's Arabian Sea via a network of roads, railways and energy pipelines.

Having cultivated a thousand year history - that compelled Ferdowsi to borrow its hero for his Shahnameh (The Book of Kings) . What turn has it taken now that it is relegated to the back of beyond? The land where the first rise of the morning sun is promised to its people is at the dusk of this nation.
'Sistan and Baluchistan' a south-eastern province in Iran, with vast lands of rugged, mountainous terrain, bordering the neighboring Pakistan and Afghanistan, where smugglers illicitly enter in and out of the lawless borders through risky routes, surviving from the poverty inflicted by the high rising unemployment. A long-forgotten province, isolated due to its relentless droughts and desolated lands with people repleted with pride and poetry, bonded to their ancestral soil where they endure the harsh climates throughout the dry seasons. This is a brief visual journey of my overland trip to this long-forgotten land, blotted in the minds of most people with fear and misery. Having travelled for nearly 2 months from Sistan all the way down to Baluchistan, and being enraptured by the majestic and hypnotic landscapes and welcomed by people still fueled with life and honor, I deeply feel these visceral impressions throughout my journey will stay with me forever.

Balochistan, Pakistan
Balochistan (Balochi, Pashto, Urdu: بلوچِستان, Balōčistān, pronounced [bəloːt͡ʃɪst̪ɑːn]), is one of the four provinces of Pakistan, located in the southwestern region of the country. Its provincial capital and largest city is Quetta. It shares borders with Punjab and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas to the northeast, Sindh to the southeast, the Arabian Sea to the south, Iran to the west, and Afghanistan to the north.
Most of the province's inhabitants are Balochs, Pashtuns and Brahuis though there are smaller communities of Iranian Balochs, Hazaras, Sindhis, Punjabis, and other settlers such as the Uzbeks, and Turkmens. The name Balochistan means "the land of the Baloch" in many regional languages. Although largely underdeveloped, the provincial economy is dominated by natural resources, especially its natural gas fields, which supply the entire country. Gwadar Port also plays a significant role in the economic development of the province.
Balochistan is noted for its unique culture, extremely dry desert climate, and the Sulaiman Mountains.

Balochistan
Balochistan or Baluchistan (Balochi: بلوچستان, lit. Land of the Baloch) is an arid desert and mountainous region on the Iranian plateau in south-western Asia, northwest of the Arabian Sea and the national homeland of the Baloch people. It stretches across southwestern Pakistan, southeastern Iran, and a small section of southwestern Afghanistan. The southern part of Balochistan is Makran.
The second most populous linguistic group in the region is the Pashto-speaking Pashtun people. Brahui is spoken by the Brahui people. Punjabi and Sindhi are also spoken as first languages in Pakistani Balochistan and by Hindki in Afghanistan. Urdu is used as second language in Pakistan. Persian is used as a second language in Iran and Afghanistan.
Etymology
The Baloch people once referred to their land as Moka or Maka, a word which later became Makran. Moka might have been an adaptation of Mahi-khoran, Persian for "fish eaters," an appellation used by the Persians of the west for the people of coastal Balochistan. Arrian, in his Anabasis Alexandri, referred to the people of the region as the ichythophagi, a Greek translation of Mahi-khoran.

It is the sixth-most populous country with a population exceeding 199 million people. It is the 36th largest country in the world in terms of area with an area covering 881,913 km2 (340,509 sq mi). Pakistan has a 1,046-kilometre (650 mi) coastline along the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman in the south and is bordered by India to the east, Afghanistan to the west, Iran to the southwest and China in the far northeast respectively. It is separated from Tajikistan by Afghanistan's narrow Wakhan Corridor in the north, and also shares a maritime border with Oman.
The territory that now constitutes Pakistan was previously home to several ancient cultures, including the Mehrgarh of the Neolithic and the Bronze Age Indus Valley Civilisation, and was later home to kingdoms ruled by people of different faiths and cultures, including Hindus, Indo-Greeks, Muslims, Turco-Mongols, Afghans and Sikhs. The area has been ruled by numerous empires and dynasties, including the Indian Mauryan Empire, the Persian Achaemenid Empire, Alexander of Macedonia, the Arab Umayyad Caliphate, the Mongol Empire, the Mughal Empire, the Durrani Empire, the Sikh Empire and the British Empire. As a result of the Pakistan Movement led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the subcontinent's struggle for independence, Pakistan was created in 1947 as an independent nation for Muslims from the regions in the east and west of the Subcontinent where there was a Muslim majority. Initially a dominion, Pakistan adopted a new constitution in 1956, becoming an Islamic republic. A civil war in 1971 resulted in the secession of East Pakistan as the new country of Bangladesh.

Baloch people
The Baloch or Baluch (Balochi: بلوچ) are a people who live mainly in the Balochistan region of the southeastern-most edge of the Iranian plateau in Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan, as well as in the Arabian Peninsula.
They mainly speak the Balochi language, a branch of Northwestern Iranian languages, and are therefore an Iranic people. About 50% of the total Baloch population live in Balochistan, a western province of Pakistan; 40% of Baloch are settled in Sindh; and a significant number of Baloch people in South Punjab of Pakistan. They make nearly 3.6% of the Pakistani population, about 2% of Iran's population (1.5 million) and about 2% of Afghanistan's population.
Etymology
The exact origin of the word 'Baloch' is unclear. One theory is that the word came from the Median word brza-vak, which describes a loud aggressive way of speaking. Others say the word came from the Babylonian king Belus. Still others say it is a nickname meaning "cock's comb", referring to the distinctive helmets that Balochi forces wore when they fought the Median king Astyages in the mid 6th century BCE. Finally, there are some who believe it came from the Sanskrit words "Bal" (meaning strength or power) and "Och" (meaning high or magnificent).

Many people do not know the real history of Balochistan and how it merged with Pakistan in 1947. Our media has done a horrible job in presenting facts, and people like Hamid Mir, are at the forefront of spreading misinformation and lies. This video will educate you on the Union of Balochistan and how the 4 feudal states eventually merged into Pakistan in 1947. Prior to Pakistan's independence in 1947, the Union of Balochistan was an independent country consisting of four feudal territories or states: - State of Las Bela - State of Kharan - State of Makran - State of Kalat The set up of the Union of Balochistan can be described to as similar to the present day United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland). The only exception was that these states were fully autonomous and governed themselves independently. Some in the media who are uneducated like Hamid Mir, have lied to the public claiming that Kalat ruled over Balcohistan, but this is nothing more then a petty lie from a man who is quite well known for fabricating news and being a chronic liar (it runes in his family). One year before Pakistan's independence, Muhammad Ali Jinnah asked the 4 states if they were willing to join Pakistan. Three states responded with yes - Las Bela, Kharan and Makran. Kalat however abstained and requested for more time while the matter was being discussed with local leaders. Here are the quotes of the leaders of the states on there merger with Pakistan. "...Kalat doesn't have legitimacy to decide the fate of Kharan. We announce our integration with Pakistan and will not tolerate any interference by the ruling elite of Kalat" - Mir Habibullah Nusherwani, Leader of Kharan State "...we hold historical ties with Sindh and share a strong cultural bond with the province. Our people have accepted Jinnah Sahab as the leader of the new Muslim homeland and we vote to merge with Pakistan" - Ghulam Qadir Jam, Leader of Las Bela "...we will never accept Kalat's hegemony and we declare our merger into the newly born Muslim state of Pakistan" - Mir Bai Khan Gichki, Nawab of Makran All three states, except Kalat, accepted to join Pakistan in 1947 leaving Kalat in a precarious situation. Should it remain independent and landlocked surrounded by Pakistan or should it merge with Pakistan? This decision was left to the Khan of Kalat to make with Jinnah urging him to give in. Furthermore, the British government were not in the mood to give Kalat any independence, since that would essentially lead to a fallout throughout British India and disintegration of British India. The stubborn Kalati leaders wasted 10 months in debates and discussions but eventually the Khan of Kalat accepted and merged with Pakistan in 1947. However, many feudal leaders and a self-declared "Prince" named Karim Khan rejected any merger and instead began a violent backlash and separatist insurgency. By now it was late 1947 and Jinnah began suffering health problems. He asked the military to enter Kalat to pacify the separatists and bring about peace so the dispute could be resolved diplomatically - however since the Khan of Kalat and a majority of the people had already agreed to join Pakistan, the debate was not up for question. In reality, a few feudals were upset they didn't get enough of the "pie" to control, and hence a violent backlash. Today, the BLA and other similar terrorist groups, are all decedents of these feudals. The truth of the matter is, a few feudals are attempting to regain power over the Kalati people and in the process have declared themselves "spokespersons" for the people of Balochistan. The reality is, most common Baloch people have concern about a "Union of Balochistan" or "Pakistan". For them, living a normal life and making ends meet is what is important. The ones who are fighting today are a few thousand misguided men being controlled by certain Sardars of Kalat who want to regain power which they lost. These groups (BLA/BLF/BRA) are terrorising the people in certain regions of Central Balochistan in an attempt to instill fear into the Baloch people. In response, a ground roots movement has begun in which common Baloch people have banded together to fight off any terrorist groups - some notable ones include the Bugti Aman Force and Baloch Fundemanlist Army among others who are protecting the Baloch people from these terrorist groups. -

Earthquake hits badly 03 districts of Baluchistan,Kech(Turbat),Panjgur and in Awaran the epicentric earthquake having the tremors of 7.8 on Richter scale on September 28,2013.HANDS in Collaboration with PDMA (Pakistan Disaster Management Authority) conducted a rapid assessment which showed 300,000 Peoples were affected ,While 90 % of the building structure collapsed in 08 Union Councils of Dist. Awaran resulting 399 peoples were died and 599 were injured.The complete breakdown of Education and Health facilities with destroying of Water wells and Karez also occur and there is an extreme need for rehabilitation .HANDS realized the most Critic state,among the first few to reach Awaran with Philanthropic Funding of their Generous friends and Donors and later DFID/UKAID provided $ 2.5 million (PKR 412 million) for Conducting relief and rehabilitation activities in the affected Areas.Baluchistan Government realized the HANDS efforts and The Chief Minister of Baluchistan invited HANDS officials to brief about their on going various operations in earthquake affected areas.After the conduction of rapid assessment of affectes ,An action Plan was developed to reach 10,000 house holds and 56,000 individuals through the Project to to facilitate earth quake affected districts of Baluchistan including 08 worst Union Councils including Awaran ,Gajar,Nokio,Teertej,Parwan,Gishkore,Chitkan,Dandar Communities.After immediate need recognition HANDS distributed 10,000 emergency Shelter roofing Kits,20,000 Blankets,10,000 ceramic filters & 10,000 Solar lights to target helpless Communities.Endless efforts has been done in Health sector Provided services to 27000 sick and injured peoples giving them the services to maternal and Childcare ,Physical Therapy,rehabilitation of disabled through developing cadre of Community Health workers ,150 wheel Chairs to disables.HANDS urgently boost the neglected education sector of Baluchistan established 25 child friendly Spaces (CSF) decorated with furniture,learning and sports material attracts to enroll 1,469 children.Providing low cost shelters Homes in disaster affected areas is the ray of Hope for the displaced peoples , its Infrastructure Development Energy WASH and Shelter (IDEAS) program arranged to deliver the knowledge and skills to local Peoples for construction of disaster resilient shelters . The project provided the opportunity of "Cash grant" for livelihood scheme through bank transaction of PKR 49500 per family to 4500 families to build shelters while Cash grant of PKR 223 million is in transfer process.We also intervened on the livelihood aspect and "Cash Grants" for 1200 livelihood schemes to benefit 10,000 community members is in process as livelihood enhancement support Program. The Monitoring and evaluation Program is geared up by the "Baluchistan Engineering and Technology University Khuzdar" to ensure challenges,smooth implementation and monthly Progress.The transparency has been ensured by signing an agreement with United Bank Limited for on line cash transfer direct to the beneficiary on presentation of National Identity Cards (NIC).HANDS is thankful to their Partners and donors who provide them funds to serve the earthquake affected peoples and looking towards generous Funds to continue their integrated social development Programs to empower the Peoples Baluchistan Province

In his first video interview in five years, Allah Nazar Baloch, head of the ethnic Baluch group Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), also vowed further attacks on a Chinese economic corridor, parts of which run through the resource-rich province. The land where the first rise of the morning sun is promised to its people is at the dusk of this nation.
'Sistan and Baluchistan' a south-eastern province in Iran, with vast lands of rugged, mountainous terrain, bordering the neighboring Pakistan and Afghanistan, where smugglers illicitly enter in and out of the lawless borders through risky routes, surviving from the poverty inflicted by the high rising unemployment. A long-forgotten province, isolated due to its relentless droughts and desolated lands with people repleted with pride and poetry, bonded to their ancestral soil where they endure the harsh climates throughout the dry seasons. This is a brief visual journey of my overland trip to this long-forgotten land, blotted in the minds of most people with fear and misery. Having travelled for nearly 2 months from Sistan all the way down to Baluchistan, and being enraptured by the majestic and hypnotic landscapes and welcomed by people still fueled with life and honor, I deeply feel these visceral impressions throughout my journey will stay with me forever.

This video will educate you on the Union of Balochistan and how the 4 feudal states eventually merged into Pakistan in 1947.
Prior to Pakistan's independence in 1947, the Union of Balochistan was an independent country consisting of four feudal territories or states:
- State of Las Bela
- State of Kharan
- State of Makran
- State of Kalat
The set up of the Union of Balochistan can be described to as similar to the present day United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland). The only exception was that these states were fully autonomous and governed themselves independently. Some in the media who are uneducated like Hamid Mir, have lied to the public claiming that Kalat ruled over Balcohistan, but this is nothing more then a petty lie from a man who is quite well known for fabricating news and being a chronic liar (it runes in his family).
One year before Pakistan's independence, Muhammad Ali Jinnah asked the 4 states if they were willing to join Pakistan. Three states responded with yes - Las Bela, Kharan and Makran. Kalat however abstained and requested for more time while the matter was being discussed with local leaders. Here are the quotes of the leaders of the states on there merger with Pakistan.
"...Kalat doesn't have legitimacy to decide the fate of Kharan. We announce our integration with Pakistan and will not tolerate any interference by the ruling elite of Kalat" - Mir Habibullah Nusherwani, Leader of Kharan State
"...we hold historical ties with Sindh and share a strong cultural bond with the province. Our people have accepted Jinnah Sahab as the leader of the new Muslim homeland and we vote to merge with Pakistan" - Ghulam Qadir Jam, Leader of Las Bela
"...we will never accept Kalat's hegemony and we declare our merger into the newly born Muslim state of Pakistan" - Mir Bai Khan Gichki, Nawab of Makran
All three states, except Kalat, accepted to join Pakistan in 1947 leaving Kalat in a precarious situation. Should it remain independent and landlocked surrounded by Pakistan or should it merge with Pakistan? This decision was left to the Khan of Kalat to make with Jinnah urging him to give in. Furthermore, the British government were not in the mood to give Kalat any independence, since that would essentially lead to a fallout throughout British India and disintegration of British India.
The stubborn Kalati leaders wasted 10 months in debates and discussions but eventually the Khan of Kalat accepted and merged with Pakistan in 1947. However, many feudal leaders and a self-declared "Prince" named Karim Khan rejected any merger and instead began a violent backlash and separatist insurgency.
By now it was late 1947 and Jinnah began suffering health problems. He asked the military to enter Kalat to pacify the separatists and bring about peace so the dispute could be resolved diplomatically - however since the Khan of Kalat and a majority of the people had already agreed to join Pakistan, the debate was not up for question. In reality, a few feudals were upset they didn't get enough of the "pie" to control, and hence a violent backlash. Today, the BLA and other similar terrorist groups, are all decedents of these feudals.
The truth of the matter is, a few feudals are attempting to regain power over the Kalati people and in the process have declared themselves "spokespersons" for the people of Balochistan. The reality is, most common Baloch people have concern about a "Union of Balochistan" or "Pakistan". For them, living a normal life and making ends meet is what is important. The ones who are fighting today are a few thousand misguided men being controlled by certain Sardars of Kalat who want to regain power which they lost. These groups (BLA/BLF/BRA) are terrorising the people in certain regions of Central Balochistan in an attempt to instill fear into the Baloch people. In response, a ground roots movement has begun in which common Baloch people have banded together to fight off any terrorist groups - some notable ones include the Bugti Aman Force and Baloch Fundemanlist Army among others who are protecting the Baloch people from these terrorist groups.

In early 2012, brothers Noordin and Bhawal Mengal decided to make a film about the ongoing human rights crisis in Balochistan, a large province in south-western Pakistan. The producers commissioned a British filmmaker, David Whitney, to make the film with their help.
After a lengthy development phase, shooting began on the "The Line of Freedom" in September 2012. The cast and crew braved high temperatures in the desert and mountains to shoot this short film at an undisclosed location.
After the production stage, editing commenced in The UK and the film was completed in late 2012.
The central character of the film is Nasir Dagaarzai who was abducted, tortured and murdered by Pakistani military as part of its "Kill and Dump" policy and Dirty War against Baloch people.

Balochistan (literally meaning Land of the Baloch) is a mountainous and arid desert region situated at the tri-juncture of the Middle East, South Asia and Central Asia. A resource rich province at the mouth of the Persian Gulf that was once an independent state, Balochistan now straddles across Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. It is the largest, but most backward, under-developed and strife-torn province of Pakistan.
The secular Baloch people have faced successive dismissals of elected democratic governments by Islamabad and repeated military operations by the Pakistan army, which is traditionally and predominantly Punjabi, in 1948-52, 1958-60, 1962-63, 1973-77, with the most recent military operation beginning in 2005. However, this time Pakistan misused US-supplied weapons meant to counter the Taliban and turned this arsenal on the Baloch. Once again a war is raging for the heart and soul of Balochistan, and its victims are usually innocent men, women and children.

The distinguishing feature of this fifth insurgency in Pakistan is its battlefield. It resembles none of the previous, for this time Pakistan's military and proxy forces wage their efforts quite literally on the bodies of Balochistan's youth and activists. Unable to quell the movement or capture or eliminate its leaders, armed forces and intelligence agencies take out their frustration on soft and easily accessible targets—students, teachers, intellectuals, lawyers, political and human rights activists. Enforced disappearances are endemic. Young and old go missing for months or years on end and in hundreds of cases, their bullet-riddled, tortured and often unrecognizable bodies turn up on roadsides. This practice has been called Pakistan's 'kill and dump' policy and both Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have provided documentation of numerous cases. High levels of intimidation, harassment, arrest and torture are carried out against opposition supporters. Peaceful protestors have been suppressed, political representatives have been detained unlawfully, and freedom of expression and assembly is totally restricted for the Baloch. However, Pro-Taliban Pashtun groups that despise Baloch nationalists have complete freedom to promote their ideology with the tacit support of Pakistan's intelligence agencies.
This unofficial practice is but one in a long string of failed official policies towards this provincial member of the Pakistan federation. Following the British division of India and the creation of Pakistan in 1947, Balochistan—then referred to as Kalat—was also recognized as an independent state, news of which was reported even in the New York Times. Pakistan, however, spent the subsequent year cajoling some Baloch tribal chiefs, making backroom deals and prying away Balochistan's territory. After the upper and lower houses of the Baloch parliament unanimously rejected Pakistan's proposal, Pakistan forced Balochistan's accession at gunpoint on the 27th March, 1948, almost doubling Pakistan's landmass.
This landmass proved rich in minerals, oil and gas, but the wealth derived from these resources has never been equitably distributed to the people of Balochistan. Baloch gas has fueled Pakistan's most populous and dominant province of Punjab since 1953, but reaches only a handful of selected areas of Balochistan. While the first Baloch insurgency led by Abdul Karim Baloch in 1948 was sparked by the issue of political sovereignty, subsequent insurgencies embraced issues of development, rights to resources and autonomy. With the military's killings of revered Baloch leaders Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti in 2006 and Balach Marri in 2007, however, grievances evolved from talk of 'divorce' into a full-blown demand for independence on the part of the political groups and many within the general population... In early 2012, brothers Noordin and Bhawal Mengal decided to make a film about the ongoing human rights crisis in Balochistan, a large province in south-western Pakistan. The producers commissioned a British filmmaker, David Whitney, to make the film with their help.
After a lengthy development phase, shooting began on the "The Line of Freedom" in September 2012. The cast and crew braved high temperatures in the desert and mountains to shoot this short film at an undisclosed location.
After the production stage, editing commenced in The UK and the film was completed in late 2012.
The central character of the film is Nasir Dagaarzai who was abducted, tortured and murdered by Pakistani military as part of its "Kill and Dump" policy and Dirty War against Baloch people.

Unable to quell the movement or capture or eliminate its leaders, armed forces and intelligence agencies take out their frustration on soft and easily accessible targets—students, teachers, intellectuals, lawyers, political and human rights activists. Enforced disappearances are endemic. Young and old go missing for months or years on end and in hundreds of cases, their bullet-riddled, tortured and often unrecognizable bodies turn up on roadsides. This practice has been called Pakistan's 'kill and dump' policy and both Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have provided documentation of numerous cases. High levels of intimidation, harassment, arrest and torture are carried out against opposition supporters. Peaceful protestors have been suppressed, political representatives have been detained unlawfully, and freedom of expression and assembly is totally restricted for the Baloch. However, Pro-Taliban Pashtun groups that despise Baloch nationalists have complete freedom to promote their ideology with the tacit support of Pakistan's intelligence agencies.
This unofficial practice is but one in a long string of failed official policies towards this provincial member of the Pakistan federation. Following the British division of India and the creation of Pakistan in 1947, Balochistan—then referred to as Kalat—was also recognized as an independent state, news of which was reported even in the New York Times. Pakistan, however, spent the subsequent year cajoling some Baloch tribal chiefs, making backroom deals and prying away Balochistan's territory. After the upper and lower houses of the Baloch parliament unanimously rejected Pakistan's proposal, Pakistan forced Balochistan's accession at gunpoint on the 27th March, 1948, almost doubling Pakistan's landmass.
This landmass proved rich in minerals, oil and gas, but the wealth derived from these resources has never been equitably distributed to the people of Balochistan. Baloch gas has fueled Pakistan's most populous and dominant province of Punjab since 1953, but reaches only a handful of selected areas of Balochistan. While the first Baloch insurgency led by Abdul Karim Baloch in 1948 was sparked by the issue of political sovereignty, subsequent insurgencies embraced issues of development, rights to resources and autonomy. • Bahrori Road Incident
Context: A bombed was fixed in a bus in Quetta, which was coming from Iran. The bomb went off right before the bus was about the entre the city. Several people were killed, many were injured; this attack happened on 28th June 2012
• Ispini Road Incident
Context: On one of the main roads in Quetta, a dissident group attacked the Hazara community workers and the community’s leading figure was also attacked. This happened twice, once on 12th and the other time on 15th February 2012.
• BUITMS Incident
Context: Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences’ bus was struck by a bomb blast, the blast killed the children studying in the university. The Shia community was the prime target of this bomb blast.
SYNOPSIS:
The episode covers with a brief historical background on the Hazara Tribe. This is followed by their story of their migration to Pakistan from Afghanistan, which gradually transforms into the reality of the threat the community is facing after 2004.
The Hazara Community is one of the very prominent communities from Balcoshistan and their contribution is very significant in various public sectors, from Armed forces to Government offices, from producing brilliant mind-wares in form of technicians, engineers, artists etc etc.
Morangofilms has tried capturing all these instances, events and expressions in two episodes through various interviews of the families of the affectees; highlighting their sufferings, from not being able to attend colleges, do business outside their areas, losing loved ones…the children from the community live under constant traumatic stress.
These two episodes cover the community as a whole subject, their importance within the region, how it helped shape and brought prosperity to the province and how incidents such as these challenge the socio-economic development of Balochistan.

The elusive leader of a major rebel group fighting for independence in Pakistan's Balochistan province said he would welcome cash and other help from India, words likely to alarm Islamabad which accuses New Delhi of stirring trouble there. In his first video interview in five years, Allah Nazar Baloch, head of the ethnic Baluch group Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), also vowed further attacks on a Chinese economic corridor, parts of which run through the resource-rich province. The planned $46 billion trade route is expected to link western China with Pakistan's Arabian Sea via a network of roads, railways and energy pipelines.

Having cultivated a thousand year history - that compelled Ferdowsi to borrow its hero for his Shahnameh (The Book of Kings) . What turn has it taken now that it is relegated to the back of beyond? The land where the first rise of the morning sun is promised to its people is at the dusk of this nation.
'Sistan and Baluchistan' a south-eastern province in Iran, with vast lands of rugged, mountainous terrain, bordering the neighboring Pakistan and Afghanistan, where smugglers illicitly enter in and out of the lawless borders through risky routes, surviving from the poverty inflicted by the high rising unemployment. A long-forgotten province, isolated due to its relentless droughts and desolated lands with people repleted with pride and poetry, bonded to their ancestral soil where they endure the harsh climates throughout the dry seasons. This is a brief visual journey of my overland trip to this long-forgotten land, blotted in the minds of most people with fear and misery. Having travelled for nearly 2 months from Sistan all the way down to Baluchistan, and being enraptured by the majestic and hypnotic landscapes and welcomed by people still fueled with life and honor, I deeply feel these visceral impressions throughout my journey will stay with me forever.

Many people do not know the real history of Balochistan and how it merged with Pakistan in 1947. Our media has done a horrible job in presenting facts, and people like Hamid Mir, are at the forefront of spreading misinformation and lies. This video will educate you on the Union of Balochistan and how the 4 feudal states eventually merged into Pakistan in 1947.
Prior to Pakistan's independence in 1947, the Union of Balochistan was an independent country consisting of four feudal territories or states:
- State of Las Bela
- State of Kharan
- State of Makran
- State of Kalat
The set up of the Union of Balochistan can be described to as similar to the present day United Kingdom (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland). The only exception was that these states were fully autonomous and governed themselves independently. Some in the media who are uneducated like Hamid Mir, have lied to the public claiming that Kalat ruled over Balcohistan, but this is nothing more then a petty lie from a man who is quite well known for fabricating news and being a chronic liar (it runes in his family).
One year before Pakistan's independence, Muhammad Ali Jinnah asked the 4 states if they were willing to join Pakistan. Three states responded with yes - Las Bela, Kharan and Makran. Kalat however abstained and requested for more time while the matter was being discussed with local leaders. Here are the quotes of the leaders of the states on there merger with Pakistan.
"...Kalat doesn't have legitimacy to decide the fate of Kharan. We announce our integration with Pakistan and will not tolerate any interference by the ruling elite of Kalat" - Mir Habibullah Nusherwani, Leader of Kharan State
"...we hold historical ties with Sindh and share a strong cultural bond with the province. Our people have accepted Jinnah Sahab as the leader of the new Muslim homeland and we vote to merge with Pakistan" - Ghulam Qadir Jam, Leader of Las Bela
"...we will never accept Kalat's hegemony and we declare our merger into the newly born Muslim state of Pakistan" - Mir Bai Khan Gichki, Nawab of Makran
All three states, except Kalat, accepted to join Pakistan in 1947 leaving Kalat in a precarious situation. Should it remain independent and landlocked surrounded by Pakistan or should it merge with Pakistan? This decision was left to the Khan of Kalat to make with Jinnah urging him to give in. Furthermore, the British government were not in the mood to give Kalat any independence, since that would essentially lead to a fallout throughout British India and disintegration of British India.
The stubborn Kalati leaders wasted 10 months in debates and discussions but eventually the Khan of Kalat accepted and merged with Pakistan in 1947. However, many feudal leaders and a self-declared "Prince" named Karim Khan rejected any merger and instead began a violent backlash and separatist insurgency.
By now it was late 1947 and Jinnah began suffering health problems. He asked the military to enter Kalat to pacify the separatists and bring about peace so the dispute could be resolved diplomatically - however since the Khan of Kalat and a majority of the people had already agreed to join Pakistan, the debate was not up for question. In reality, a few feudals were upset they didn't get enough of the "pie" to control, and hence a violent backlash. Today, the BLA and other similar terrorist groups, are all decedents of these feudals.
The truth of the matter is, a few feudals are attempting to regain power over the Kalati people and in the process have declared themselves "spokespersons" for the people of Balochistan. The reality is, most common Baloch people have concern about a "Union of Balochistan" or "Pakistan". For them, living a normal life and making ends meet is what is important. The ones who are fighting today are a few thousand misguided men being controlled by certain Sardars of Kalat who want to regain power which they lost. These groups (BLA/BLF/BRA) are terrorising the people in certain regions of Central Balochistan in an attempt to instill fear into the Baloch people. In response, a ground roots movement has begun in which common Baloch people have banded together to fight off any terrorist groups - some notable ones include the Bugti Aman Force and Baloch Fundemanlist Army among others who are protecting the Baloch people from these terrorist groups.

Awaran resulting 399 peoples were died and 599 were injured.The complete breakdown of Education and Health facilities with destroying of Water wells and Karez also occur and there is an extreme need for rehabilitation .HANDS realized the most Critic state,among the first few to reach Awaran with Philanthropic Funding of their Generous friends and Donors and later DFID/UKAID provided $ 2.5 million (PKR 412 million) for Conducting relief and rehabilitation activities in the affected Areas.Baluchistan Government realized the HANDS efforts and The Chief Minister of Baluchistan invited HANDS officials to brief about their on going various operations in earthquake affected areas.After the conduction of rapid assessment of affectes ,An action Plan was developed to reach 10,000 house holds and 56,000 individuals through the Project to to facilitate earth quake affected districts of Baluchistan including 08 worst Union Councils including Awaran ,Gajar,Nokio,Teertej,Parwan,Gishkore,Chitkan,Dandar Communities.After immediate need recognition HANDS distributed 10,000 emergency Shelter roofing Kits,20,000 Blankets,10,000 ceramic filters & 10,000 Solar lights to target helpless Communities.Endless efforts has been done in Health sector Provided services to 27000 sick and injured peoples giving them the services to maternal and Childcare ,Physical Therapy,rehabilitation of disabled through developing cadre of Community Health workers ,150 wheel Chairs to disables.HANDS urgently boost the neglected education sector of Baluchistan established 25 child friendly Spaces (CSF) decorated with furniture,learning and sports material attracts to enroll 1,469 children.Providing low cost shelters Homes in disaster affected areas is the ray of Hope for the displaced peoples , its Infrastructure Development Energy WASH and Shelter (IDEAS) program arranged to deliver the knowledge and skills to local Peoples for construction of disaster resilient shelters . The project provided the opportunity of "Cash grant" for livelihood scheme through bank transaction of PKR 49500 per family to 4500 families to build shelters while Cash grant of PKR 223 million is in transfer process.We also intervened on the livelihood aspect and "Cash Grants" for 1200 livelihood schemes to benefit 10,000 community members is in process as livelihood enhancement support Program. In early 2012, brothers Noordin and Bhawal Mengal decided to make a film about the ongoing human rights crisis in Balochistan, a large province in south-western Pakistan. The producers commissioned a British filmmaker, David Whitney, to make the film with their help.
After a lengthy development phase, shooting began on the "The Line of Freedom" in September 2012. The cast and crew braved high temperatures in the desert and mountains to shoot this short film at an undisclosed location.
After the production stage, editing commenced in The UK and the film was completed in late 2012.
The central character of the film is Nasir Dagaarzai who was abducted, tortured and murdered by Pakistani military as part of its "Kill and Dump" policy and Dirty War against Baloch people.

Balochistan (literally meaning Land of the Baloch) is a mountainous and arid desert region situated at the tri-juncture of the Middle East, South Asia and Central Asia. A resource rich province at the mouth of the Persian Gulf that was once an independent state, Balochistan now straddles across Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. It is the largest, but most backward, under-developed and strife-torn province of Pakistan.
The secular Baloch people have faced successive dismissals of elected democratic governments by Islamabad and repeated military operations by the Pakistan army, which is traditionally and predominantly Punjabi, in 1948-52, 1958-60, 1962-63, 1973-77, with the most recent military operation beginning in 2005. However, this time Pakistan misused US-supplied weapons meant to counter the Taliban and turned this arsenal on the Baloch. The distinguishing feature of this fifth insurgency in Pakistan is its battlefield. It resembles none of the previous, for this time Pakistan's military and proxy forces wage their efforts quite literally on the bodies of Balochistan's youth and activists. Unable to quell the movement or capture or eliminate its leaders, armed forces and intelligence agencies take out their frustration on soft and easily accessible targets—students, teachers, intellectuals, lawyers, political and human rights activists. Enforced disappearances are endemic. Young and old go missing for months or years on end and in hundreds of cases, their bullet-riddled, tortured and often unrecognizable bodies turn up on roadsides. This practice has been called Pakistan's 'kill and dump' policy and both Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have provided documentation of numerous cases. High levels of intimidation, harassment, arrest and torture are carried out against opposition supporters. Peaceful protestors have been suppressed, political representatives have been detained unlawfully, and freedom of expression and assembly is totally restricted for the Baloch. However, Pro-Taliban Pashtun groups that despise Baloch nationalists have complete freedom to promote their ideology with the tacit support of Pakistan's intelligence agencies.
This unofficial practice is but one in a long string of failed official policies towards this provincial member of the Pakistan federation. Following the British division of India and the creation of Pakistan in 1947, Balochistan—then referred to as Kalat—was also recognized as an independent state, news of which was reported even in the New York Times. Pakistan, however, spent the subsequent year cajoling some Baloch tribal chiefs, making backroom deals and prying away Balochistan's territory. After the upper and lower houses of the Baloch parliament unanimously rejected Pakistan's proposal, Pakistan forced Balochistan's accession at gunpoint on the 27th March, 1948, almost doubling Pakistan's landmass.
This landmass proved rich in minerals, oil and gas, but the wealth derived from these resources has never been equitably distributed to the people of Balochistan. Baloch gas has fueled Pakistan's most populous and dominant province of Punjab since 1953, but reaches only a handful of selected areas of Balochistan. While the first Baloch insurgency led by Abdul Karim Baloch in 1948 was sparked by the issue of political sovereignty, subsequent insurgencies embraced issues of development, rights to resources and autonomy. With the military's killings of revered Baloch leaders Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti in 2006 and Balach Marri in 2007, however, grievances evolved from talk of 'divorce' into a full-blown demand for independence on the part of the political groups and many within the general population... • Bahrori Road Incident
Context: A bombed was fixed in a bus in Quetta, which was coming from Iran. The bomb went off right before the bus was about the entre the city. Several people were killed, many were injured; this attack happened on 28th June 2012
• Ispini Road Incident
Context: On one of the main roads in Quetta, a dissident group attacked the Hazara community workers and the community’s leading figure was also attacked. This happened twice, once on 12th and the other time on 15th February 2012.
• BUITMS Incident
Context: Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences’ bus was struck by a bomb blast, the blast killed the children studying in the university. The Shia community was the prime target of this bomb blast.
SYNOPSIS:
The episode covers with a brief historical background on the Hazara Tribe. This is followed by their story of their migration to Pakistan from Afghanistan, which gradually transforms into the reality of the threat the community is facing after 2004.
The Hazara Community is one of the very prominent communities from Balcoshistan and their contribution is very significant in various public sectors, from Armed forces to Government offices, from producing brilliant mind-wares in form of technicians, engineers, artists etc etc.
Morangofilms has tried capturing all these instances, events and expressions in two episodes through various interviews of the families of the affectees; highlighting their sufferings, from not being able to attend colleges, do business outside their areas, losing loved ones…the children from the community live under constant traumatic stress.
These two episodes cover the community as a whole subject, their importance within the region, how it helped shape and brought prosperity to the province and how incidents such as these challenge the socio-economic development of Balochistan.

His dargah (shrine or tomb) lies in Tehsil Taunsa of district Dera Ghazi Khan of Punjab province in Pakistan. Taunsa Sharif is located on the Karachi-Peshawar Indus High way near and the headworks on the Indus River called Taunsa Barrage. His dargah (shrine or tomb) lies in Tehsil Taunsa of district Dera Ghazi Khan of Punjab province in Pakistan. Taunsa Sharif is located on the Karachi-Peshawar Indus High way near and the headworks on the Indus River called Taunsa Barrage. His urs (annual death anniversary) is celebrated at his shrine every year from (5-7) Safar al-Muzaffar, second month of Islamic Calendar.
