Why you need SolarFlash™
The existing method of dressing a flashing material around the bracket is fundamentally flawed, as the bracket moves and in doing so can move the flashing material, which can potentially lead to damaged or cracked slates.
This impacts on the weathertightness of the roof and means that the installation is not MCS 012 compliant.
Important points when using SolarFlash™ with slates:
• Bracket elbow widths should be at least 30mm to enable the bracket to clear the roofing material.
• Installers frequently attempt to flash an area larger than necessary. The course of slates beneath the fixed bracket must be replaced, thereby only requiring a small hole (where the elbow of the bracket protrudes) to be flashed - the SolarFlash™ then covers this.
• Any flashing material should not be in contact with the bracket when interwoven with the roofing material as the bracket is a moveable projection from the roof and has to be allowed to move without causing potential damage to the roofing material. SolarFlash™ is designed to give clearance around the bracket, thereby allowing inevitable bracket movement.
• Fitting the final slates into position must be done using a mechanical fixing per MCS 012. A lead tingle or blob of silicone does not stand up as a long-term repair.
THIS PRODUCT IS COMPATIBLE WITH ALL BRACKETS DESIGNED TO BE FIXED WITH CLEARANCE FROM THE ROOF. IT IS THE INSTALLERS RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE WEATHERTIGHTNESS IS MAINTAINED. SOLARFLASH™ ENSURES THE FIXING/FLASHING IS FULLY COMPATIBLE WITH MCS 012 WEATHERTIGHTNESS REQUIREMENTS.

Photovoltaic system
A photovoltaic system, also solar PV power system, or PV system, is a power system designed to supply usable solar power by means of photovoltaics. It consists of an arrangement of several components, including solar panels to absorb and convert sunlight into electricity, a solar inverter to change the electric current from DC to AC, as well as mounting, cabling and other electrical accessories to set up a working system. It may also use a solar tracking system to improve the system's overall performance and include an integrated battery solution, as prices for storage devices are expected to decline. Strictly speaking, a solar array only encompasses the ensemble of solar panels, the visible part of the PV system, and does not include all the other hardware, often summarized as balance of system (BOS). Moreover, PV systems convert light directly into electricity and shouldn't be confused with other technologies, such as concentrated solar power or solar thermal, used for heating and cooling.

Solar power
Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaics convert light into an electric current using the photovoltaic effect.
The International Energy Agency projected in 2014 that under its "high renewables" scenario, by 2050, solar photovoltaics and concentrated solar power would contribute about 16 and 11 percent, respectively, of the worldwide electricity consumption, and solar would be the world's largest source of electricity. Most solar installations would be in China and India.
Photovoltaics were initially solely used as a source of electricity for small and medium-sized applications, from the calculator powered by a single solar cell to remote homes powered by an off-grid rooftop PV system. As the cost of solar electricity has fallen, the number of grid-connected solar PV systems has grown into the millions and utility-scale solar power stations with hundreds of megawatts are being built. Solar PV is rapidly becoming an inexpensive, low-carbon technology to harness renewable energy from the Sun.

Solar panel refers to a panel designed to absorb the sun's rays as a source of energy for generating electricity or heating.
A photovoltaic (in short PV) module is a packaged, connected assembly of typically 6×10 solar cells. Solar Photovoltaic panels constitute the solar array of a photovoltaic system that generates and supplies solar electricity in commercial and residential applications. Each module is rated by its DC output power under standard test conditions, and typically ranges from 100 to 365 watts. The efficiency of a module determines the area of a module given the same rated output – an 8% efficient 230 watt module will have twice the area of a 16% efficient 230 watt module. There are a few solar panels available that are exceeding 19% efficiency. A single solar module can produce only a limited amount of power; most installations contain multiple modules. A photovoltaic system typically includes a panel or an array of solar modules, a solar inverter, and sometimes a battery and/or solar tracker and interconnection wiring.

Or is it because the roof is already leaking? The answer often lies somewhere in the middle. One of the ways it can be leaking is that when the solar panel were installed they interrupted the flow of water on the roof. This can occur on tiled roofs where solar panels installed in between tiles and therefore water cannot flow and backs up. It could be on a metal roof where solar panel have been installed in between the lap or the join of two sheets and again water cannot flow properly and back up into the roof. So, what our job is to do is to define the reason the roof is leaking, is it because the roof is old and always going to leak? Is it because the solar panels have interrupted the flow of water? In this video I’m going to talk about solar panel and leaking roofs.
So firsthand, I’ve watched the growth of solar panel. Years back, we are doing a lot of roof work here in Queensland, and there was no solar panel. Now, it seems that every other room we are on has solar panels.
So, what does this is mean in relation to roof leaking. Well, we’ve seen the rise of roof leaks after solar panel are being put on and it raises the question; is the leak because the work men installed the solar panel have damaged the roof? Or is it because the roof is already leaking? The answer often lies somewhere in the middle.
One of the ways it can be leaking is that when the solar panel were installed they interrupted the flow of water on the roof.
This can occur on tiled roofs where solar panels installed in between tiles and therefore water cannot flow and backs up. It could be on a metal roof where solar panel have been installed in between the lap or the join of two sheets and again water cannot flow properly and back up into the roof.
So, what our job is to do is to define the reason the roof is leaking, is it because the roof is old and always going to leak? Is it because the solar panels have interrupted the flow of water? Or, and let’s hope not, the workman that installed the solar panels have damaged the roof.

In this video I’m going to talk about solar panel and leaking roofs.
So firsthand, I’ve watched the growth of solar panel. Years back, we are doing a lot of roof work here in Queensland, and there was no solar panel. Now, it seems that every other room we are on has solar panels.
So, what does this is mean in relation to roof leaking. Well, we’ve seen the rise of roof leaks after solar panel are being put on and it raises the question; is the leak because the work men installed the solar panel have damaged the roof? Or is it because the roof is already leaking? The answer often lies somewhere in the middle.
One of the ways it can be leaking is that when the solar panel were installed they interrupted the flow of water on the roof.
This can occur on tiled roofs where solar panels installed in between tiles and therefore water cannot flow and backs up. It could be on a metal roof where solar panel have been installed in between the lap or the join of two sheets and again water cannot flow properly and back up into the roof.
So, what our job is to do is to define the reason the roof is leaking, is it because the roof is old and always going to leak? Is it because the solar panels have interrupted the flow of water? Or, and let’s hope not, the workman that installed the solar panels have damaged the roof.

This video I walk you through the installation of the panels on the roof, combining the power and running the wires and making the roof penetration. We then show you how and what wires we ran down through the RV to the MPPT charge controller. We also give you an overview of how the charger connects to the battery via the 500A shunt that the battery monitor uses to keep track of battery capacity.

A solar car is a solar vehicle used for land transport.
Solar cars only run on solar power from the sun. They are very stable and can come in different sizes. To keep the car running smoothly, the driver must keep an eye on these gauges to spot possible problems. Cars without gauges almost always feature wireless telemetry, which allows the driver's team to monitor the car's energy consumption, solar energy capture and other parameters and thereby freeing the driver to concentrate on driving.
Solar cars combine technology typically used in the aerospace, bicycle, alternative energy and automotive industries. The design of a solar vehicle is severely limited by the amount of energy input into the car. Most solar cars have been built for the purpose of solar car races. Some solar cars are designed also for public use List of prototype solar-powered cars
Solar cars depend on a solar array that uses photovoltaic cells (PV cells) to convert sunlight into electricity. Unlike solar thermal energy which converts solar energy to heat for either household purposes, industrial purposes or to be converted to electricity, PV cells directly convert sunlight into electricity.[1] When sunlight (photons) strike PV cells, they excite electrons and allow them to flow, creating an electric current. PV cells are made of semiconductor materials such as silicon and alloys of indium, gallium and nitrogen. Crystalline silicon is the most common material used and has an efficiency rate of 15-20%. The first solar family car was built in 2013.[2] Researchers at Case Western Reserve University, have also developed a better solar car which can recharge more quickly, due to better materials used in the solar panels.[3]
Chinese solar panel manufacturer Hanergy plans to build and sell solar cars equipped with lithium-ion batteries to consumers in China.[4][5]Hanergy says that five to six hours of sunlight should allow the cars’ thin-film solar cells to generate between 8-10kWh of power a day, allowing the car to travel about 80km on solar power alone.[6]Maximum range is about 350km (217 mi.).

A recent aerial survey using new technology was able to discover thousands of ancient Maya structures that were covered in dense Guatemalan jungle this week, ranging from houses, forts, irrigation canals, and even a large pyramid, according to Ars Technica ... The survey was conducted in 2016 and archaeologists have been examining the data since early 2017 and said they've already found more than 60,000 previously unknown structures....
