This session will provide information regarding descriptive statistics that are often used when reviewing assessment data. We will cover the statistics available in the Baseline reporting site and we will use example situations to identify which statistics should be used to answer the questions being asked. We will also provide an overview regarding levels of measurement that can help determine what types of statistics you are able to run on your data. - See more at: http://www2.campuslabs.com/support/training/basic-statistics-quantitative-analysis-i-5/#sthash.FDO5HA6i.dpuf

QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS:This analysis gives the percentage composition of elements present in an organic compound.A known mass of an organic compound is burnt in the presence of excess of oxygen and copper II oxide.Carbon and hydrogen in the compound are oxidised to carbon dioxide and water respectively. The mass of water produced is determined by passing the mixture through a weighed U-tube containing anhydrous calcium chloride. Carbon dioxide is absorbed in another U-tube containing concentrated solution of potassium hydroxide. These tubes are connected in series. The increase in masses of calcium chloride and potassium hydroxide gives the amounts ofwater and carbon dioxide from which the percentages of carbon and hydrogen are calculated.Let the mass of organic compound be m g, mass of wat...

An example of a quantitative test would be an acid/base titration to determine concentration (volumetric analysis). A bromide is a chemical compound containing a bromide ion or ligand. This is a bromine atom with an ionic charge of −1 (Br−).One can test for a bromide ion by adding exc...
